Proxies for Galahad armored infantry squad

Wading into K47 and wanted to build a British SAS/Royal Navy Commando themed force. Loving most of the k47 models (walkers and automated infantry are amazing and I will get some), but gotta be honest, not loving the British/Italian armored infantry units.

Wanted to see if there was an alternative out there that could function both as a recognizable Grade 1 power armor proxy, and contributed to my Commando British Royal Navy theme.

  1. The royal guard have more poses for officers/artillery plus removable heads. I would want to swap WL commando heads with barrets on them. The helmeted ones on the top left could also be used as Bersaglieri units if I wanted to maintain consistency in future forces.
  2. The Solar guard look more like power armor, but poses are limited, and the miniguns look a bit too futuristic

Or am I totally out of line and should get out of here with my proxy heresy?

First pass at a1250 commandos competitive list

Having fun trying to craft a mechanically thematic, yet functional, commando list that fields commandos for the bulk of its infantry.

The current plan centers an 8 man FAO infiltrator unit, dug into the midfield which will be reinforced by an smg squad + officer in the armored scout car.

Of 2 additional smg units, 1 will out-flank from reserve, while the other is loaded into a half-track to roll up the same, or opposite flank (with a 2nd lieutenant imbedded in whichever unit is in the half track).

AT units are 2 good-ol piat+jeep+officer combos with backup from the transport HMG's, and 1 unit with anti-tank grenades (to deal with excessive open topped vehicles).

In totality, this puts an officer in every transport that will snap-to their piat/smg teams.

The 2 heavy mortars are flex hitters. Using the FAO as a spotter (and a 2nd spotter) they should reach anywhere on the battlefield to pressure troublesome dug in units, or a tank parked in the back line.

The remaining 6-man LMG and MMG's are backliners, just there to stack extra pins, hold an objective, and protect the mortar teams (debating swapping the 2 mmgs for a second 6-man LMG unit, but kinda want to try mmgs).

That gets me to 1249 pts and 18OD for what I hope to be a tricky, and mobile group of raiders.

Any feedback whether tactical, thematic, or historic is welcome.

Trying to create an animatable edge light effect

animated version is linked here.
https://pin.it/acQTXPVl7

Creating a cloner grid of interlinked extruded triangular panels.
It's supposed to be techy so I'd like to stack multiple light effects, but most techniques revolve around the entire clones lighting up incandescent surfaces/panels, or just putting a light under the cloner body.

I really like how the example effect more accurately traces around the edges of the forms, making sharp turns to give the impression of data/energy more intelligently traveling across the surface.

Hping for any solution that provides enough variation in their lengths/speeds/pathing to look natural for :15-:20 second intervals ( note I do have x-particles and redshift to utilize) .

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Help plz. new Water pump leak after 2 replacement attempts. suggestions?

To provide context this started with a timing belt change.
OEM Water pump was working fine and had no leaks prior to the swap, but I read that it was good practice to replace all tensioners/pulleys and the water pump for good measure.

Bought a "Gates" belt and pump kit and swapped it all. Cleaned the pump gasket with only a plastic razor and brake parts spray, and installed the new one with just the paper gasket. There was a leak.

I removed the part, replaced the gasket, cleaned it even more using mirrors to ensure that every corner was as clean as I could get it and this second time I added permatex high tack waterpump seal to both sides of the housing.

Followed the instructions of loosely tightening the bolts, waiting an hour, then torquing each one to 15foot pounds. Then let the car sit for 32 hours before adding coolant.

There is still a leak. Much lighter, but its still there. Getting very frustrated because the original pump had no issues, and I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

  1. Is the new pump maybe faulty and I Should I order an entire new pump?
  2. Should I uses permatex on only one side, or none at all?

I'm willing to take one more stab at this, but I am pleading for any recommendations to maximize success plz.

PSA: Arc Thrower + anti-tank mines is kinda fun

Basically the arc thrower targets anti-tank mines.

Use this to your advantage and zap into the swarm while they are walking over them for some satisfying forced detonations.

Is it the most efficient way to explode bugs... heck no.
Is it a fun way to clear them while still feeling viable? This was a 1 death run with the highest kill count, so it can't be too terrible.

Bonus tip:
Found the missile pistol might have its strongest pairing (against bugs) with arc thrower.

2+ zaps will stun any charger.
While they are stunned it is trivially easy to missile them in the head. 1 missile + 4 head zaps will kill a behemoth, and since it already takes 2 zaps to stun, and the arc thrower tends to go for the head already, you can make consistent quick work of chargers for cheap.
