Tallah is the best modern nu-metal band, am I wrong?

I feel like no other band really hits that magic that the OG bands hit quite like they do, I feel like they would be playing arenas/stadiums right next to Korn, Slipknot, Deftones, LP and SOAD if their first two albums dropped in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Question for our 90s spooky kids: What was the most important/impactful magazine issue featuring Marilyn Manson to you/overall for the band's popularity?

Just now saw a post on the Rammstein subreddit about a 2001 Kerrang issue that a commenter explained was really important for the band getting big in the U.K at the time.

It made me remember how awesome it was so have all of these high quality magazine prints posted here every week a year or so ago and then made me think what could have been that for Manson fans in the late 90s.

I would assume the most impactful issue would be somewhere before or during the ACSS era and I'd love to hear stories from our veteran spooky kids regarding particular issues they remember from the triptych era or before.

Visual Kei New York Festival had a great turnout!

was super happy to see all the people showing up, them planning it a few days after the Jiluka show was a great idea. I hear their plan is to keep this going and be able to invite VK bands to play NYC at their festival.

If you crave visual kei events, consider taking a trip to NYC for what these guys do in the future https://www.instagram.com/vknyofficial/

I would hope going forward they plan more events just around j-rock/j-metal shows that hit NYC, I know TK from Ling Tosite Sigure will be playing NYC soon and while that isn't VK they can probably bring in some people by targeting fans of TK for something like an afterparty.

Pop artists making Industrial music/Industrial Pop is a good thing for the scene/genre

I don't know how people don't understand this, but when an artist like Lady Gaga makes music that sounds pretty much like Nine Inch Nails, it helps literally everyone involved in the scene.

She has a fanbase of countless millions of people.

Among those people there will be a percentage that will see comments talking about how it sounds like Nine Inch Nails.

There will then be a percentage of those people who will go listen to Nine Inch Nails.

There will then be a percentage of those people who will become fans of Nine Inch Nails.

There will then be a percentage of those people who will go on to listen to similar artists in the genre such as Marilyn Manson, Gary Numan, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Rammstein, HEALTH and so on.

There will then be a percentage of those people that love the genre so much that they go see the smaller industrial bands like HEALTH, 3TEETH, Aesthetic Perfection, King Yosef, Youth Code, etc live and become patrons of their art.

and finally, there will then be a percentage of those people who will literally go and make industrial music and contribute to the genre in potentially new and exciting ways.

and on every step of this ladder, they will try to get their friends on board

I know this because I literally went through this pipeline starting from Manson scaring the fuck out of 12 year old nu-metal and emo kid me with The Beautiful People, and I would not have even gotten there if Linkin Park didn't bring rock, metal and hip-hop together because I was born in a place where I only really had hip-hop and pop around me.

In music, a rising tide lifts all ships. I guarantee a very sizable amount of people who are reading this would not be if it weren't for crossover artists like Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson dominating the pop charts with industrial sounds infused with 80s pop and 90s rock and metal which were much more mainstream sounds. Manson in particular birthed generations of goths, but don't tell the goth subreddit that.

The same can be said for the new generation that aren't on this subreddit getting into industrial through certain hyperpop artists and industrial crossover artists like Ghostemane and JPEGMAFIA fusing industrial with hip-hop.

Do not gatekeep, if you see a young person new to the scene, educate them and show them the good stuff you think or know they're going to like, get every industrial newbie NIN fan you know and show them Gary Numan. Welcome when we have a guest into the genre, that is how our family grows.

I don't want to see industrial nights filled with an ever decreasing and ever aging amount of 40+ year olds, every genre should try to get new blood in the door constantly.

PSA: Jiluka pits go hard

Last night I saw Jiluka in NYC. Do not be mistaken by all of the pretty people in lolita and jirai and visual kei outfits, this is not a buck-tick show or an anime convention.

When the breakdowns started hitting the pits were really tough and there was even a lot of hardcore dancing, that was some real metalcore/hardcore pit action that I loved to see and be a part of. You can tell there were a bunch of people who got to experience that for the first time and a lot of them had a ton of fun and the ones that didn't just mostly got out of the way.

Just putting this out there for people so they don't get shocked or angry when someone barrels into them during a breakdown, at the end of the day Jiluka is a progressive metalcore/deathcore band with a bunch of pretty makeup on!

American cities & towns with the most beautiful architecture and European style city planning neighborhoods?

I'm getting my license soon and want to visit the best this country has to offer, starting with the east coast. Would love to know places and specific neighborhoods I should be looking out for.

My favorite cities overall are those you'd find in Italy and Spain, but of course I love all kinds of european styles and the places I will find will be more old British in nature.

I'm probably actually not going to be able to make it to this but I really want this to keep happening, if you know anyone in the NYC/Jersey/CT area that likes VK let them know about this!

Assuming this will be Jami and the boys without Reba?

Update on Reba for those who aren't aware: After CO ended she was Marilyn Manson's guitar player until just recently when she joined Danny Elfman's band at Sick New World (still on good terms with Manson, seen side stage for his set) and is now doing her solo project opening for The Black Queen.

Pedestrianizing sections of cities is a net positive for the community, and I always felt like Bayonne needed more outdoor seating for their restaurants.

Every town that invests in a pedestrian street/plaza highly benefits from it and is very normal across Europe and Asia.

I would love to be able to walk over there and grab a pizza from Pizza Masters and actually sit outside in the spring and summer and enjoy the weather, have some trees put on the block for shade, other businesses that would greatly benefit from it are the carvels, john's food store, Pompeii pizza, literally everything along that line.

It being two blocks away from the light rail also helps with making the town feel more walkable and pedestrianized.

Plus, we already tend to have festivals and parades along that area of Broadway and it would allow for more of these things to happen.

But, if you disagree, what would be a better spot for this along broadway?

I literally just found out, I feel like this would have been bigger news but only after reading a comment on one of his vlogs did I find this out. Justin might literally be the best vocalist I've ever seen or heard, it's terrible what life can throw at you.

While Manson has been doing the other big metal festivals since he's come back with sobriety and his performances have been consistently really good to great throughout this time I really think this show was his best performance in decades.

I mean, he truly sounds INSANE. Even the first night of the tour I was like "oh he's got a bit of rustiness in his screams he needs to work through" but I'm just amazed at what I'm hearing in these SNW videos. His screams genuinely are Holy Wood/MA/ACSS level good.

I even looked at videos of his last tour to now, he's MORE FIT than ever, his arms are literally more muscular while overall being just as lean if not a bit leaner.

and most importantly, the meaning behind this particular show:

Sick New World's entire aesthetic is built off the back of what Manson and those fans back in the 90s were doing, he is an irreplaceable and maybe the biggest figure in that whole "mall goth" vibe that SNW wraps themselves in.

With all of that in mind and with all of the backlash on social media around him being there, it feels like this performance is his definitive "comeback" show, and you can see it in him as well.

Like, look at how fucking happy he is through the show, and how furious he is performing. It's actually a complete step up from all of the other festival performances and even the headliners, he's going so hard and is playing with such glee and triumph that it's undeniable and infectious.

He's literally the happiest I've ever seen him when he's doing The Beautiful People and I've watched countless live videos and all sorts of stuff regarding him for over 15+ years.

He's also been sharing so many photos and videos and clips and all sorts of little things around this particular show more than any other festival show, it's truly special and just amazing to see, I wish I was there.

The fact that he performed in the daytime was perfect, it was raw and with no gimmicks, everyone could see every single bit of the performance, somuchso that I've seen people have commented that they literally could not mosh if they tried because so many people just wanted to see the spectacle of this performance.

Now, I'd love to see him booked for later in the evening next year, and I hope I can go to SNW and see it in person.
