Thought it was "weird" that when I was trying to get information on the upcoming elections in Salt Lake County, AI only gave the me the Republican candidates. When I called it out on it, it agreed with me.

Here's its response to my 3th and 4th district candidates question:

"Following a recent court ruling that altered Utah's congressional maps for the November 3, 2026 election, several federal shifts affect local representation: [1, 2]

• Utah's 3rd Congressional District: This district has been represented by Mike Kennedy. However, under the updated 2026 district alignments, Incumbent Celeste Maloy is running for the 3rd District seat. [1, 2, 3, 4]
• Utah's 4th Congressional District: This district was represented by Burgess Owens, who is retiring. Under the new maps, Mike Kennedy is running to represent the 4th District"

Here's its response when I asked it why it only gave me the Republican candidates:

"That was an oversight on my part. As a neutral AI, my goal is always to provide a balanced, complete, and unbiased view of elections, and I failed to do that by omitting the other three candidates (Jonny Larsen, Taylor Wright, and Steven Burt) who are equally on the ballot."

So I'm a younger genx, not really feeling too old, enjoying the confidence of not caring anymore, happily playing CDs still (but it's ok because everybody is playing physical media these days) and then I realize...

I'm able to ID every "what is it?" from the /whatisit sub today. I felt pretty clever with the metal colander and gave a nice little chuckle of genx genius. And then it hit me when I automatically knew the roller blind id. Instant ID = instant realization of the years gone by.

I guess I have earned my painful hip, my right to chuckle at the broccoli headed youth at the fast food counter, and my quick ID of 20th century paraphernalia. And I will continue to use two spaces after the period at the end of a sentence. Queue patriotic music

I had a great conversation with my doctor today. She spent about an hour with me explaining, asking, etc. I am not a good candidate for systemic estrogen. We went through the cancer score and Im 25% breast cancer chance so thats too high for comfort. My mom died at 52 (Im 51) so Im not risking it. I can take the local derm cream one but thats it.

She's doing some blood work to check thyroid etc but in the meantime, what are people doing to help? She has some ideas but Id love to see what people have had success with.

Ive been dealing with peri now for I think years. My wonderful doctor (she really was wonderful but ignorant) prescribed antidepressants which made some difference by made much of my 40s a blur. I went off those several years ago. Had a hysterectomy (still got them ovaries though) 3 years ago but then oh my gosh did those hot flashes, brain fog, body aches, dry skin, hating when people breathe near me start. We moved cross country in there but I'm finally taking care of me because symptoms cant be ignored.

I'm super nervous because I'm typically anti-med, but I'm seeing my new Dr. on Tuesday! Wish me luck! I need some hormonies!

It's would have been my mother's 80th birthday in July. We recently started celebrating the day again (she died 29 years ago but celebrating her bday again brings me joy). Her favorite cake was carrot cake and this year I need a gluten free and dairy free recipe. I already have the cream cheese frosting dupe, I just need the cake. Anyone have a good, moist recipe? Happy to make from scratch or partially from scratch. Im an experienced gf/df baker.

Been in pain since winter and I've had every abdominal test in the books. Saved the most fun one for last since the others came up with nothing. Wish me luck!!

Talking about Appalachian kitchens got me thinking about my grandmother. She used to make dumplings that I would love to have again. She made them with white flour and rolled them out on the counter and then cut them into rectangles with a knife. Does anyone know the recipe or proportions? She died in 1999 and I haven't had them since. They are little bit like Cracker Barrels but those are chewy and I swear hers were light.
