Practical Strategies for Measuring Training Impact

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is translating training participation into meaningful business outcomes. Beyond simple completion rates, what methods have you used to measure whether training is actually driving performance or retention? Curious to hear what’s worked (or not) in your organizations and how you’ve communicated these results to stakeholders.

Soft Skills Training: Can Online Platforms Deliver Real Change?

I've often wondered about the effectiveness of soft skills training delivered through online platforms. While technical upskilling seems straightforward, soft skills like communication and leadership are harder to quantify and practice virtually. For those who have implemented or taken part in online soft skills courses, did you notice tangible behavior changes? What elements made the biggest difference?

Best Approaches for Creating Effective Simulation Training

In my experience, the most successful simulation training isn't just about the software—it’s about aligning your tools with real-world workflows. I’ve seen teams use platforms like Articulate Storyline, Skillwell, and Captivate, but the real impact comes from tailoring scenarios to actual on-the-job challenges. How do you approach scenario design to ensure simulations bridge theory and practice?

5 Straight Days - 18 hole rounds with 18 year olds...sleeping in...

I brought my nephews to Ireland (I work here) from the US as a graduation present of sorts. They want to golf every day. We've been here 5 days, and that is :

  • Powerscourt (East)
  • Corballis (love this place, but a bit dry at the moment)
  • Deer Park (not amazing, but just fun...and my nephews are cheap college students)
  • Rush (this might be my favorite "hidden gem"
  • Wicklow (recommendation from this subreddit)

I'm feckin exhausted. (If you're Irish, please correct my use of feckin, if needed) Walked every one of them...in the rain...in the wind, with my nephews. Absolutely feckin exhausted, and it was AWESOME. Taking tomorrow off and then we are back at it. Arklow, Seapoint, Laystown, and a friend hooked us up with K-Club. When I get on the plane back to the states, I'm going to sleep...but for now, I'm going to golf.

Looking for a "hidden gem" for next weekend...

Great weekend of golf with my nephews : Powerscourt (great value for money), Corballis (great track but burnt out right now), and Rush (favorite hidden gem in Ireland). Looking for another hidden gem (preferably links) that won't break the bank for next weekend. Any ideas?

Why did Solar and Wind become political?

I don't get it. I got solar last year, with battery backup, because it made financial sense for me and my family. It seems pretty obvious that electrification is going to be the future, given the fact that I carry no fewer than 4 chargers in my bag, and 2 battery blocks. Shouldn't we be generating electricity in every possible way that makes economic sense. What am I missing?

Rush is a hidden gem…

Just wrapped up 18 holes with my nephews at Rush at 9:15pm. We had to play the front tees the last three holes so we could see our balls, but it was awesome. Forgot how much I love that little course. Given the drought, it was still in surprisingly good shape. Halved the last hole with an eight foot putt so I didn’t have to buy drinks. Perfect bank holiday round.
