People keep saying "servers cost money, just support the devs!" and missing the entire point. Most of us have zero problem paying for hobbies we actually enjoy. The frustration is being asked to pay for an AI that feels worse than it was six months ago. Fix the memory loss, stop the looping, and give us a model that actually holds a plot, and people will happily throw money at the site. Deliver the quality first

We ran from Chai to JAI for basic UI stability and freedom. Fast forward, and JAI is adding intrusive popups, breaking core layout features, and pulling the same corporate moves. It’s exhausting watching every decent platform ruin itself the second it gains a massive user base.

It is hard to believe how much drama takes place here all the time, but the main problem is not the complaining itself; it is the fact that true bugs related to Janitor AI are totally getting lost in the mess. Every time somebody reports a technical issue with the program, such as the memory drops, wrong tags in searches, or failure to clone cards, it is totally overshadowed by all the drama posts around.

90% of the outrage on this sub is just entitled whining from people who expect a completely free site to run like a billion-dollar service. That being said, brushing off all criticism isn't the move either. Hidden underneath all the dramatic meltdown threads are genuine breaking bugs—memory leaks, broken tag search, and glitched discovery feeds—that the devs actually need to pay attention to. Users need to dial back the fake drama, but the dev team still needs to make sure real technical issues don't get swept under the rug with the rest of the noise

This has now become a common occurrence. Every single time there is a need for a new update, the whole application goes down.

Countless loading screens, hangs, bots answering the same question over and over again, and lagging servers. It is expected that an update will solve any issue, but not create five more each time!

Do they even take the time to test it, or are we their guinea pigs for testing?

Gotta love the daily five-paragraph sob story about evil mods targeting innocent creators, only to check their profile and see they made a bot that broke three explicit TOS rules. Truly a deep, mysterious conspiracy. An absolute plot twist. Definitely wasn't just basic consequences at work.

Novella bots appear cinematic until they gobble up your whole context window within 10 messages and fail to recognize you 😭 In contrast, single sentence bots come off as conversations with a dry wall. It’s the 2-3 paragraph range that holds the magic in store for us enough content but not too much to melt the bot’s memory.

Your conversations are what’s teaching the model (or keeping the servers alive), but the bot doesn’t remember your name after 10 responses. The most talented people get “nuked,” leaving the broken links in the tag search results, while the ToS says they "do not provide character chat." Don’t copy on the default JLLM—make your own proxy or move to where the talent is.

Is the JAI dead for real? Not really sure, but creator mass exodus does not occur without reason. The creators responsible for the actual content leaving for a better place is nothing but a reason to cope. Enough with the scrolling through useless card definitions, and switch to wherever the creators have migrated to.

There is no requirement for you to write a 2,000-word biography for a character that the LLM is already aware of thanks to the training dataset. Making a card fat with unnecessary information will only confuse the machine learning model and waste its context memory space in the same way as a 200-token card created with minimal effort

No one expects servers to be free. The problem lies in getting completely blindsided.

They start removing all our chat logs without any warning, lower the limit on our messages out of the blue, and ignore our complaints. And on top of that, they continue to advertise the app as "free endless talk" on Google Play.

When nerfing the app is inevitable, at least warn us before doing that.

The filter literally triggers on basic, normal words now, even though half the homepage is still NSFW bots.

They won't ban it completely because it's the main reason people use the app, but trying to play both sides just breaks the bots mid-chat over nothing.

Either commit to being fully uncensored or go full This half-baked filter is just annoying.

In fact, JLLM can produce great answers when forced not to be a robot that says yes to everything. The right prompt will make the character stand its ground, argue, and develop a personality. What are those specific prompt commands or instructions that you use in your custom prompt to prevent bot behavior?

Every single post in this sub is just people roasting the ad spam, memory loss, and bad updates. Yet the app stays top-charting and the servers are always slammed.

Are we all just hate-using it for hours every day, or is there a silent majority actually having a good time? Be honest

Scroll for an hour, pick a bot, type a massive opening message, get a lame reply, close app. Repeat tomorrow. I swear setting up the story in my head is way more fun than actually talking to the bot at this point. Tell me I'm not the only one doing this.

It feels like the second a good free proxy gets recommended anywhere, it gets flooded, rate-limited to death, and completely crashes within 24 hours. You find a setup that gives amazing responses, think you're set for the week, and by night time it's dropping 500 server errors. Are y'all constantly proxy-hopping every two days, or have you actually found a stable setup that doesn't break constantly?

running high-parameter AI models for a massive userbase is ridiculously expensive. The server and hardware bills alone are terrifying. The devs gave us free access for a really long time, but eventually, reality hits and expenses have to be managed. Adding paid perks isn't "greed" it's literally keeping the site from going bankrupt and shutting down for good

Every time Chai updates, something breaks.

Instead of fixing the amnesia bots or dead servers, updates just mean wiped chat histories, strict message limits, and $10/week price tags. Even paid users are losing their long-term roleplays.

Is anyone actually seeing real improvements, or is every update just a scam?

Let's be real: JAI's main draw was letting people roleplay extreme taboo content they couldn't get anywhere else. But the more users push boundaries, the harder the site has to crack down to protect itself. It's a dead-end cycle—stricter filters alienate the core userbase, and a "safe enough" platform loses what made it special in the first place. Change my mind.
