Part time private practice after kids?

I’m currently a 40yo stay at home mom to three kids age 2-6. I’m considering going to graduate school part-time next fall when my youngest starts preschool. I’m leaning towards LMFT but possibly LPC. I’m weighing if the time involved for school/hours (quite a few years at part time pace) is worth it for a private practice of 10-15 clients. I’ve always been interested in a career as a therapist but it’s hard to know really what it’s like. Any advice welcome! Are there any others who started school as a second career after staying home with kids?

2nd career as a part-time therapist after kids

I’m currently a stay at home mom to young kids, and have one more year before my youngest starts preschool (other two are starting first grade). Before kids I hopped around in the corporate world and then was a private chef. I had an online course business during covid that did great until it was killed by AI. I’m considering going to grad school part-time to get a counseling degree (undecided on which license) and ultimately open a therapy practice of 12-15 clients mostly during school hours. Probably one day in person and the rest virtual. My husband is supportive, but years of schooling and internship hours would be a lot. Are there others on here that took a similar path and have advice?

Considering 2nd career as a therapist after kids

Before kids I hopped around in the corporate world and then was a private chef. I had an online course business during covid that did great until it was killed by AI. I’m seriously considering going to grad school part-time to get my LMFT (not sure which certification yet) and ultimately open a practice of 12-15 clients mostly during school hours. My husband is supportive, but years of schooling and practicum would be a lot. Are there other moms on here that took a similar path? Was it worth it? Is the AI risk too high to start now? Any advice appreciated from practicing therapists or those in school would be appreciated as this keeps getting deleted from every sub I try 🫠

Staying home vs part-time therapist

I‘m torn between wanting an identity outside of being a mom and some extra income, versus how much smoother our family runs with me home. Any advice appreciated!
