Praying with Saints

First I wanna say that I don’t think this is a question of salvation. So I think it’s ok to have differing opinions.

That being said, I understand the idea of praying with them. But it's never sat right with me. That will always include praying 'with' someone that isn't on this Earth. And the Bible says not to do that.

Also anyone who believes and follows Christ is called a saint. So why ask for those who aren't on this Earth for prayer?

“But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. 2 things I’ve learned about that have completely changed my quality of life- thoracic compression syndrome and pelvic compression

these both put pressure on my nerves. when i did pt and ot for both, i gradually began to be able to use certain muscles that i haven’t been able to use in a long time.

VENT

I know it’s important to keep an open mindset when dealing with chronic illnesses. But it’s also good to let yourself feel the frustration and pain. (Not dismiss it)

So here’s a post for everyone. Vent your heart out. I’ll go first.

I hate these symptoms. So fucking much. I am so exhausted from taking care of myself and advocating for my health.

I am so grateful to have the perspective I do. But I wish I could care and know this much without the pain. The nerve pain, the joint pain, the muscle twitches. Just all of it!

I wish I could take a break from having to control the body I do. Like let me switch over to a robot or something for a day. So I’m not constantly trying to focus through pain and my adhd.

Binocular Vision Dysfunction exercises

I had a concussion before I got diagnosed with eds and everything else. They told me my eyes weren’t really working together. Then nothing really came of it.

I’ve researched it myself and exercises for it. But I was wondering if anyone has any exercises they particularly like or would recommend.

The Faithful: Women of the Bible

One of the most Spirit filled creations I’ve seen. They are great commentaries on the history of the women of the Bible. And how truth and laws are about justice, not about power. How there is power in humility and meekness.

They focused less on specific details of the Bible and more on the truth of the messages the stories were meant to tell. They focused on their faithfulness to what God has told them. Not what man has interpreted it as. They were bold in the truth yet still meek, compassionate for every person involved. They cared for and loved every person without changing their own opinion or beliefs.

They focused on Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Leah, and Rachel.

(Since their stories aren’t that detailed in the Bible, I saw a lot of psychology/sociology theory used to infer what each of the characters might be going through internally. But still very focused on serving each other and God’s message)

Why are we fighting over which theology is more right when there are still christians today who are persecuted for their faith?

Isn’t defending theology the Holy Spirit’s job? Yes, we can be apart of that. But why is arguing over theology more important/feel more important than the fact that there are still countless people who are killed because they are publicly following Christ?

There have been reports of attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria, including village massacres and kidnappings.

Have we allowed theological debates to consume so much of our attention that we’ve neglected Christ’s commands to love one another and bear one another’s burdens?

-Defend sound doctrine (Jude 3; Titus 1:9; 1 Timothy 4:16)
-Avoid foolish and endless quarrels (2 Timothy 2:23; Titus 3:9)
-Love one another (John 13:34–35)
-Remember persecuted Christians (Hebrews 13:3)
-Bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2)
-Trust the Holy Spirit to guide believers into truth (John 14:26; John 16:13)

The brain’s function in scoliosis (and how it relates to chronic pain)

So I’ve followed this guy for a while and I just saw a video that I thought might help people who’ve had chronic pain and physical therapy doesn’t really work.

I have a BS in psych/neuroscience. When I was learning about anatomy/how the brain and nervous system works, I had so much more growth in my progress than in the decade of doctor visits and pt I had been doing.

I think he explains really well what I was starting to realize. Which is that your brain gets used to having your muscles in a certain position (how you compensate for your hypermobility and pain). So along with some PT, I needed to do more occupational therapy exercises. Cause I physically felt like I couldn’t reach the muscles my physical therapists were trying to get me to use.

His instagram is full of great info that has helped me gain more control over my back (slowly but surely😂 but a lot more than when I was only doing pt)

So for some info: When this guy was young, he had a car accident with a near-drowning that smashed/fractured one of his lower vertebrae. So he had developed crazy scoliosis. He’s done a bunch of research on how the nervous system plays a huge role in posture. He’s also currently working on a randomized controlled study to try and see what’s actually happening/see if he’s right (from the successes he’s seen).

Stuck Fascia Tip - Heated Cupping Machine

I’ve had somewhat of a breakthrough over the past couple weeks.

My mom bought me an electronic cupping machine. Like the videos you see of athletes putting class cups on their back to release pressure. (mine also has a red light/heat setting)

Well I’ve always been nervous using it around my problem areas. In case it sets off an mcas flare. But I’ve recently been using it at the lower pressure setting and placing it on fascia I’ve felt stuck for years/places I felt like never got enough blood flow.

It definitely hurt/was uncomfortable. But I’ve never felt so much relief in my life. (I def also think it helps that I’ve been doing years of nerve flossing and nervous system regulation)

**TAKE IT OFF IMMEDIATELY IF IT ACTUALLY HURTS. When I said it hurt, it was more just uncomfortable than it hurting.

***This isn’t supposed to be like a fix all. Just thought I’d share something that’s really helped with fascia that’s been stuck for at least a decade recently.

***I also have my bs in neuroscience. So I’ve had to take a bunch of anatomy and biology classes. I am not a doctor. I’m just trying to say I have a little more knowledge about where/how long I should place it.

The people of Israel continue to oppress and kill people in Gaza. Pray God changes their hearts and opens their eyes to their bias. And that He brings joy and comfort to those affected by this genocide.

Nervous System Routine

I just found this and it almost perfectly explains what I’ve done over the past few years to help my nervous system regulate. (I got my BS in psych/neuroscience)

It doesn’t seem like much. But these few little changes have changed my life.

I didn’t even do all these things at once. I would use it as a way to help break up my day.

Are our morals innately human or are they the consequence of fear?

I don’t mean to put all morals into a black and white discussion. Cause there is always nuance. Hence the justice system. Just more of like the nature vs nurture debate. Which one do you think has more weight? Do you think they are both true? How does the nuance of society differ from individual values?

I think we have innate morality in us. But I also think most morals that are welcomed by society are from being afraid of what will happen to you if you don’t follow it.

Like most people can agree murder is wrong. But I wonder if it is such a big deal in our society because it has such extreme consequences. I think people are so afraid of losing their life that it puts murder at the top of our societal morality hierarchy.

I’m not trying to say murder is good. Just trying to use it as an example because it’s so widely accepted as wrong.
