nbcbayarea.comFailing AC’s
I work in an older building that has AC’s that do not function properly. In the past, we have brought in fans to help cool areas because facilities does not respond when the temperatures get above 82. However, now I am being told that the fire marshals are confiscating fans and preventing staff from using them in their own cubicles. Has anybody had this happen? Is there anything we can do to get facilities to do something about the lack of air conditioning in these buildings?
U.S. Bank CEO Gunjan Kedia announced remote employees are grandfathered in during today's All Company Townhall!
While the bank is seemingly pursuing a direction where employees must return to an office for 60%+ of their time, during today's All Company Townhall CEO Gunjan Kedia announced that remote employees are "grandfathered in". It is unclear the extent of this decision from the leader of the 5th largest bank in the country, and whether employees who were remote but have since been forced into an office in conflict with their own wishes will have the option to return to remote work.
Many employees have been speculating that groups within the company will begin forcing remote employees to pick a home hub location or face termination with cause by end of this year. Will this new direction from the CEO help assuage these fears? Kedia very clearly outlined that remote roles are no longer being hired for with the exception of Customer Service representatives, which apparently is cost effective enough for the bank that the Managing Committee couldn't be bothered to upset these employees lives for the sake of their own commercial real estate investments.
Kedia was also proud to note that the bank is continuing to honor remote employees who have a legitimate medical accommodation, but did not note that this is a legal requirement under the ADA.

Yardhouse
I have to say I was very impressed with Yardhouse. Went this evening and the food was great. But more importantly, the service was amazing.
Tomorrow
I wanted to wish everyone good luck tomorrow. Be sure to waive at all those stuck in traffic with you. And stop by and say “hey” to all your coworkers. Most importantly, don’t forget to take your teams meeting in your cubicle. And try to keep the volume down. We wouldn’t want to interfere with the teams meeting one cubicle away.
Safety around the workplace
As we all begin to return downtown this week I encourage you all to reach out to the Mayor and City Council regarding any issues you may have. Broken sidewalks, homeless encampments blocking walkways, or parking issues.
It is THEIR responsibility to make the areas around our buildings safe for state workers. They wanted us back, they need to spend the money to make the areas safe for us all.
Let’s flood their inboxes with any issues we may come across.

Light Rail Altercation and Safety
I recently started taking transit to commute to my new job. On the third day, which was last night, on my way home from work two women in the same train car as I was got into a heated argument that resulted in a full physical altercation where one of them was beaten by the other to a point where she did not get up off the ground for about 10 minutes. They started to argue again after that before one of the women exited the train.
There was a 16 year old who was filming the altercation on her phone, and before I got off the train I said to her, “I’m sorry, you shouldn’t have to watch this when you’re only 16.” She replied and said, “yeah, but this is normal though.”
There were no transit ambassadors on the train, no one broke up the fight, and if someone had a weapon it would have just escalated to an even worse point with no intervention by staff and no safety protection for anyone else on board.
I come from Boston and I commuted for years on the trains, and I have never seen something like this until I started commuting in Sacramento by transit.
For those of you who have commuted on the light rail for a long duration of time, is this really a normal situation to occur on a Wednesday at 6pm? Like, is there any standard for safety at all?
