Driving from East Coast to Vegas.

It wont be until the winter, but I may meet up with some family in Vegas. They don't live there. They will be flying there. As someone who is afraid of flying I was thinking it could be fun to drive there. I started thinking about planning out hotels, but I have no idea how long things will actually take. Google maps times are not realistic times.

I was planning on just driving as long as I can and just stopping around 9pm. So basically 12-14 hours of driving. I will not be able to sleep in my car. It's just not something I can do. Not even a nap. I do understand there are often hotels all along the way so I'm not too worried about that either and I don't mind paying extra for last minute rooms. I also understand that some random festival may be in town and may have to drive a bit further which I'm okay with too. I have already done that on another much shorter road trip.

I guess my question is how many days should I plan for? I would like to get to the grand canyon and spend a day there before vegas and seeing how it's only a few hours away I would just leave early the next day. I really don't even need a day there. Like an hour. I just want to walk up to the edge and stare out into the expanse while I blink in awe and then I'll be over it. It's going to be winter so there may be snow and it will be cold af as well.

My family isn't going to be in Vegas for more than a few days so I'd rather be earlier than later. TIA for any tips or help.

Loud cars.

You're an asshole. Nobody gives a flying fig about your loud ass exhaust or your loud sound system. I literally hope your exhaust blows up while you're driving. I'm sick of you assholes idling outside of apartment buildings or really anywhere where people are living. We get it. You're a narcissist who wants all of the attention and you don't know how else to get it. Like a bad child you don't care if it's good or bad attention, you just want attention. Grow up, losers. Turn the bass down. Nobody thinks you're cool.

I'm sick of you and your stupid sounding cars.

Edit: This also includes you assholes on motorcycles ESPECIALLY the morons with the radios blasting I mean you gotta be able to hear your music over your stupidly loud bike, right? RIGHT? Idiots.

Is it possible to drive across the US without booking hotels in advance?

I honestly just want to hop on rt 40 which is real close to where I live in NC and drive to the Grand Canyon. I'm not sure I want to try to preplan on hotels because I don't know how long I'm going to drive for each day. I drove 13+ hours recently and it wasn't really a problem so I'm definitely ready to drive at least 12+ hours each day.

The main issue is I don't have a smart phone. I have an old flip phone. It has maps on it that works 99% of the time and I have an old GPS. That being said it's literally rt 40 the whole way. I was planning on spending one whole day at the canyon and driving back. Is this possible?

Had too much fun doing donuts on a dirty, sandy, gravely surface. Now the plastic is stained.

Hey all! I was on sand/gravel doing donuts. Anyhow, I ran it through a carwash after spraying all of the sand off but it has a bunch of white staining on the plastic trim. Not sure how to remove it. I tried soap and a brush. Is it on there forever now? Could a magic eraser get it off?
