Rey Skywalker scavenger staff

Pretty happy with the weathering achieved with this staff.

3d printed in PETG, smoothed with the guide coat method, painted with automotive 2k paints and HVLP spray guns, textured using hammered pewter rattle can, baking soda and CA glue, , Graphite powder, and weathered with acrylics washes (black, brown, white).

Using the graphite method for Beskar

Tried out the graphite method for Beskar. This was applied to a glossy black surface that was polished to a mirror shine.

This is not chrome :)

Followup to my previous post.

This is what the finished result looks like after applying the Alumaluster and clear.

This is a cosplay prop for a Mandalorian costume (Din Djarin), 3d printed in PETG on Bambu Labs P1S, smoothed with the guide coat method, painted with automotive 2k paints using HVLP spray gun, and finished with Alumaluster for a show accurate Beskar look.

The mudhorn is sprayed with 100% coverage, while the gauntlet is ~70%

Coverage check for Beskar finish (Din Djarin)

I saw a good tip to help get the right level of coverage with Alumaluster. Paint the mudhorn signet first, then use it as a contrast check. I feel like this came out pretty close!

Mandalorian Whistling Birds

A quick shot of my Mandalorian Whistling Birds that I have been working on over the last couple of years.

I started this project with the goal to learn as many skills as possible, and picked Din Djarin because his kit covers a wide range of crafts. I ended up deep in a rabbit hole and learned how to 3d model, program for embedded electronics, and mechanical design for converting rotational motion into intermittent linear motion :)

It's been an amazing project and I'm excited to put these skills to use on the rest of the costume!
