This multi-family has 4 apartments. I’ve lived in this apartment for about 6 months now & had no idea that there were cameras in the flood lights with not only video recording but audio as well. The worst part is the other tenants have had access the whole time. I only found out because of a slip-up and then got a “ sorry I forgot to let you know, I’ll give you access now”. These cameras are all around both sides of the building, front, back, porch, driveway etc. I feel violated that everyone has had access to my conversations on record all this time without me knowing. I told the landlord I don’t consent to audio recording and he said it’s “common areas” so it’s staying as is and the audio is staying on. Yes, I understand I shouldn’t assume privacy outdoors but this is supposed to be my home as well, I can’t sit on my porch with a friend and have a convo without every other tenant getting a recording of the whole thing ? Am I wrong to be bothered and is there any legal wrong-doing here since Massachusetts has pretty strict audio recording laws?

Nightshift works for me in most ways. I have two kids that I get to pick up & drop off at school, attend every school concert, appt, etc. I love that I don’t miss anything during the day and have so much free time, avoid traffic and get lots of peace and quiet during my shift at night.

For some reason, even though I feel like I have all the time in the world I feel more detached from my life than ever. My house is falling apart I can’t keep up with laundry, dishes etc. I’m crying at nothing, snapping about everything. I feel like I am the negative in the kids life because I’m so stressed and overwhelmed and never have the energy to plan the fun stuff. I’m feeling real down and I think a lot of it is simply I’m so fucking tired I’m losing my mind. I sleep maybe 3 hours of broken sleep a day. MAYBE, on a good day. Life is just too much there’s no way to win. That’s all

I have a rescue dog & young children, I just had to get rid of my couch because it was just not salvageable. I’ve tried the waterproof blankets to cover the couch & they just fall off eventually with regular play, sitting, dog jumping on and off etc.

I was looking for a couch that’s truly waterproof and came across some outdoor couches. Does anyone use these for easier cleanup? Is it the look that throws people off ? The comfortability?

Does anyone have a budget-friendly indoor waterproof option they could share for easy cleaning? I’m tired.

I got a notice stating that from 2021-2023 they overpaid me over $3000 due to an “ unintentional program violation” and now I must pay it back. I’m not even on assistance anymore after completing school and changing careers, I’m finally getting ahead and now this ? Did anyone find a way out of this ?

I filed my chpt 7. bankruptcy in 2025. I received notice from Massachusetts transitional assistance stating that due to an “ unintentional program violation” , they overpaid me between 2021-2023. Whatever Covid protections were put in place has been lifted, so now everyone is getting notices for this. They are claiming I owe over $3000. I have two children, finally no debt after discharge, I graduated college, changed careers etc. no longer receiving any assistance and now this happens. I reached out to my bankruptcy lawyer since if I had known about this debt while filing, I would have included it. He was willing to work on it but said it would also cost me a lot of money to re-open the bankruptcy, send about “ 85 certified letters”, pay him etc. and it might not end up being worth it since he couldn’t be 100% sure it would be discharged if they end up saying it was my fault somehow. What can I do about this? It doesn’t seem fair especially since they said it was “ unintentional “ , an issue on their end, and I’m finding out about it nearly 4 years later ? I’m so defeated.

For the ops that work at 24 hour plants, do you work alone the on midnight shift ? We have to do rounds of the whole plant every 2 hours which include walking an aerated bioreactor. I’ve always thought it wasn’t safe to be walking any of these tanks ( that are dark as hell ) alone at night with no one making sure you come back from your round. If there was any type of emergency no one would find you until the next shift. Is this a union issue ? I’ve mentioned it before and so has everyone else & we’ve been told basically too bad it’s always been this way.

Just made it through the last step of the adoption process and signed the final papers for a 2 year old maltese. I’ve been told her personality is super sweet and she loves people but doesn’t really know how to play, with toys or other dogs. Foster mom said she loves car rides, loves kids, is not phased by cats, and overall just wants to hang out with people and be in the mix. She has never seen any aggression from her since she’s had her.

This is my first rescue! I have two cats and two kids. I assume the grooming will be a big expense, what should I be doing daily to take care of her hair ? How can I help make this transition easy for her ? Any advice will be super appreciated!

Edit to add- she was found roaming around in Texas, they tried to follow her and she ran into a lake and immediately started sinking. Her hair was so matted she couldn’t swim. Thankfully the person jumped right in to save her and contacted the rescue right away. They said she was skin and bones. I assume grooming might be a little difficult because she might not be used to it, so I want to make it as easy as possible!

My job has a crazy amount of downtime on the overnight shift. I wanna make it somewhat productive. Has anyone ever taken a course or did something to further their career or life during their time on nights? I don’t wanna hear anything about how you’re not supposed to do this lol. The alternative is literally scrolling on TikTok or watching Netflix and my company doesn’t care as long as my rounds get done every 2 hours.

What did you not do, that you wish you did in the beginning? What did you do that worked well? Picking up our baby Boston at the end of June ☺️

Why does the world hate the night shift? I feel like I’ve found the hack to life on this shift. ( 11pm-7am). No traffic, sleep while kids are in school & others are at work and have the rest of the day free. So much downtime at work to do whatever without someone over your shoulder or disturbing you. I’ve always despised waking up to an alarm super early and dragging myself to & through work. I guess not being able to talk while you sleep during the day is a downside but everyone is at work anyway ?? The only bummer really is getting cozy at the end of the day when it’s cold and having to get up and head to work, but really what is the big deal?
