Just coincidence?
My kitten, Peaches, is six months old. She is very food motivated and will do practically anything to get more food.
I stopped free feeding her (per her veterinarian) and switched to meal times to regulate her intake.
This morning when she woke up she started vigorously licking my face to wake me up. Once she knew that I was awake, she tapped my arm and then tapped her mouth.
She did it three times. I got up and she led me to her food bowl. Do you think that this was just a coincidence, or was she telling me that she wanted to eat?

Can't overfeed a kitten?
I've read time and again that you can't overfeed a kitten. Welp I'm not sure that's true because my little girl is positively plump.
Peaches is almost 6 months old. She's a sweet little girl. Very affectionate. But she likes her food.
I've been free feeding her as she's still a baby. Then I noticed that I was refilling her bowl more and more often. Then one day I was petting her and noticed that she is positively fat.
I'm 62 and have had cats my entire life. I've always free fed them. I only had one overweight cat and he had health problems. I just don't have experience with a cat who overeats.
Should I stop the free feeding? Put her on a diet? Ignore it until she is an adult? Any idea?

My sweet Gracie had dementia and was euthanized in January. Last month my daughter handed me a bag with a gift inside.
She had a friend paint a picture of her for me. She even got her little blind eyes right.
It's my most treasured belonging.
