I need help re-launching my Mobile app development career

I need help re-launching my Mobile app development career. Ready to relocate or work remotely.

I quit my well paying job in React Native for doing a master's in game development in the UK because application development wasn't challenging enough. Worked part-time as a RN developer in an AI startup company based in London while studying.

I came back to India and I am unable to find a job after graduating in November 2025, neither in the Game Dev industry nor as React native developer.

I recently launched my own app on Android and iOS store. The tech stack is comprised of Expo, Sqlite, Zustand, Firebase, Google Cloud Functions, GitHub Actions. It also includes design principles I learnt from Game Development.

Total experience includes 4+ years in React Native and 2+ years in React and NodeJS.

I have created chat applications and video conferencing applications in 2018 all from scratch and hosted them in AWS in the past when there was no AI.

I regret my decision of doing a master's and I am desperately looking for a job now.

I listened to your feedback and completely overhauled my reading app to be cleaner and more focused.

Hey r/ereader,

A while ago, I shared my reading app, Leaf & Spine, here. Honestly, you guys weren't huge fans of it and you were right. The feedback helped me realize the app was too confusing.

I’ve spent the last few weeks redesigning it based on what you told me.

Here is what I changed for everyone:

  • Simplified the Library: I completely removed the different bookshelf styles that some of you found gimmicky. It’s now focused on a much cleaner, single-bookshelf layout.
  • Detailed Stats: You can now track your reading streaks, weekly goals, books read, pages, chapters, highlights, the time you spend reading and listening to audiobooks plus much more.
  • New Themes: Added themes for better customization.
  • Plus a ton of bug fixes and performance improvements.

Introducing Premium Features (Audiobooks & More): To keep the app sustainable and cover server costs, I’ve introduced a subscription-based Premium tier. Here is what it includes:

  • Detailed Reading & Listening Stats: Track your reading streaks, weekly goals, books read, time spent, pages, chapters, highlights, notes, words looked up plus much more.
  • Audiobook Support
  • Google Drive Backup: Keep your library safely synced in the cloud.
  • Reading Sessions: Time-based sessions to build daily reading habits, featuring immersive ambient environments.
  • Premium themes

You can check out the updated app here: [Link to App Store / Google Play]

I have kept the subscription prices fair with $2.99 a month while the yearly price is $19.99. You don't need a subscription if you just want to read books. All reading features including highlights, notes, text to speech, dictionary, drawing on individual pages, single page and dual page mode, all reading settings are completely free with zero ads and no tracking.

I really appreciate the honest feedback you gave me last time. I'd love to hear what you think of this new direction!

I built a clean, distraction-free reading app with audiobook support and deep reading stats. I'd love for you to check it out!

Hey r/apps,

I'm the developer of Leaf & Spine, and I wanted to share it with this community! My goal with this app was to create a reading experience that feels incredibly clean and focused, while still offering the advanced features that heavy readers want.

The Core (Free) Experience:

  • Distraction-Free Library: I built a highly simplified, single-bookshelf layout to keep your library organized without any visual clutter.
  • Customizable: Includes multiple free themes to suit your reading preferences.
  • Smooth Performance: Highly optimized for a fast, seamless normal reading mode.

For the Power Readers (Premium Tier): I also offer a subscription-based Premium tier to help support ongoing development and cover server costs. It unlocks:

  • Audiobook Support: Seamlessly listen to your audiobooks within the same app.
  • Deep Reading & Listening Stats: Track your reading streaks, weekly goals, time read/listened, pages, chapters, highlights, notes, and even words looked up.
  • Immersive Reading Sessions: Set time-based sessions to build daily reading habits, featuring immersive 3D ambient environments.
  • Google Drive Backup: Keep your entire library and stats safely synced in the cloud.
  • Premium also includes two exclusive themes.

You can download the app and try it out here: [Link to App Store / Google Play]

I have kept the subscription prices fair with $2.99 a month while the yearly price is $19.99. You don't need a subscription if you just want to read books. All reading features including highlights, notes, text to speech, dictionary, drawing on individual pages, single page and dual page mode, all reading settings are completely free with zero ads and no tracking.

I am actively developing this and am always looking for ways to improve. If you give it a try, I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts, feature requests, or constructive criticism!

I failed as a cat parent

I adopted two four months old cats (M & F) 6 months ago and all was going well. The female cat gave birth to 6 lovely kittens (3 white and orange and 3 calico who will hopefully get adopted soon as they are old enough) but recently the male cat has been so loud. He keeps meowing all day and night. My family members are so angry at me because no one is able to sleep at night and to make matters worse I can no longer afford to feed them. The male cat rejects Grain Zero that I bought in bulk. He ate Kitty Yums and Drools without a problem but doesn't eat Grain Zero which is slightly better than those 2. He only eats raw chicken and fish now and sometimes rats that he catches. If I cook them slightly or mix pumpkin or carrot in his food then it's a straight up refusal and meowing. He eats all the chicken i get for them and poor female cat who is a mother has to eat dry food.

I haven't had them sterilized because there are no vets where I live.

I don't know what to do anymore and thinking of putting the male cat up for adoption. I haven't had any sleep since 2 months and I am running out of money. I am going to the city soon. Should I get him neutered and see if his agressive meowing and eating raw food stops or should I give him up to an adoption shelter?
