Strands is a fun challenge, and it's a much harder game since I started chasing after the "Solved Without Hints" and "Spangram First" badges.

How to fix an askew door? There's a significant gap up top, it's fairly level below, on the inside you can see that the knob-side gap narrows to zero near the floor. More notes in comments.

Is there a simple way to see how many NCL cabins for a particular cruise are unsold?

I'm booked in an inside cabin on NCL Spirit and I've been getting "Upgrade Advantage" messages every week or two. The general advice I've seen here is not to bid, but instead look at prices online and call my agent if prices drop. I'm only interested if there's a significant price drop, so I'm grazing and looking for deals.

My question is about efficient grazing. I do this on the NCL site without logging on, making sample bookings for a balcony and backing out after I see the prices. I'd also like to see how many balconies are unsold total, but on the NCL webpage the number of available balcony cabins is broken up by deck and within each deck by forward/middle/aft.

Is there an easier way to browse and see shipwide cabin availability? I'm not wedded to the NCL booking tool, it's just the one I'm most familiar with.

EDIT: I've just learned that Costco Travel doesn't require login until later in the booking process and displays available balcony cabins deck-by-deck, an improvement over what I've been doing.

September cruise to Alaska on Spirit - Best Bear, Whale, other animal watch excursions?

We're still mulling over Alaska shore excursions. We will visit Ketchikan, Juneau, Sitka, Icy Strait Point.

In September, what's in season? Ideas for wild animal viewing excursions?

You're old if you've called for time, temp, weather - and kind of ancient if you've dialed it.

The NCL Spirit visits Kona then Hilo [two ports-of-call on the Big Island of Hawaii] on consecutive days. Can I go ashore in Kona, stay overnight on the island and rejoin the cruise the next day in Hilo?

We will be on the NCL Spirit 16-Day Vancouver to Honolulu cruise Sep 1 - Sep 17 2026.

If there is an active volcanic eruption on the Big Island when we arrive at Kona I'd like to stay on the island overnight, see the eruption at length (including at night!) and re-board the cruise the next day in Hilo. Can this be done?

Just had a flashback to using one of these in a local drug store: A testing machine for the tubes out of a Color TV.
