Most Flat Resistant Tires for Abound SR?

What's the most flat resistant tires for the Aventon Abound SR on the market? I'm looking to sell my Aventon Level 2 next year, and picking up the Abound SR. Currently on my Level 2, I have the Schwable Marathon E Plus tires. They're beasts. I love them. I did lose one from a MASSIVE piece of metal back in April that would have easily destroyed a car tire. Other than that, no flats for the past year. However, I don't think Schwable makes a 20" tire size for this model of tire. So I wouldn't have them on my future Abound SR.

I live in Kansas City, and good God... the amount of glass and other debris in the bike lanes are insane. So I absolutely need the most flat resistant tires as possible.

What are your suggestions?

Hope the guy from Costco is alright

When I was leaving Costco at approximately 6:30pm yesterday, there was guy throwing up and running through the store.

Hope the dude is okay.

I felt so bad for the guy.

EDIT: location was midtown Costco.

When does the midtown Costco close?

I want to know when Costco shuts down for the conversion to the business center. I need to get stocked up before they close.

Sooooo big changes are actually coming to Taxpayer Services?

I take it that since the Trump regime feels like it can get away with everything right now, because the courts won't do anything....they're just going to push as much terrible things on employees as possible? Obviously now they are taking away our AWS (my ops manager denied my hardship to keep my AWS even though it's medical)

I apologize if this post feels like I'm beating a dead horse, but I'm just trying to find specifics

I'm also hearing on this sub, they want to standardized people's TODs as well?

What other rumors are you hearing? I just want to be mentally prepared for what's coming, because they're demons.

If they keep throwing all these awful things to make our lives a living hell, I think I'm gonna be done in about a year or so. I don't think a Democrat majority Congress will be enough to stop the Trump regime, because the courts have failed us. This is assuming that Americans are smart enough to vote overwhelmingly Democrat for the midterms, which I don't think the public is very smart.

I think my time here is starting to come to an end. I see the writing on the wall with the AI stuff they're trying to push for all the programs. I could definitely see them replacing all of us with AI in a couple years.

It sucks, because I put in a lot of time to make a career here, which is well-over half a decade. I was hopeful that maybe this would be the last job would ever have before the Trump regime took office. Guess I was too naive, and had too much hope for the future.

Not sure what I will do after my time here ends, whenever that is. I forsee the job market getting even worse as the Trump regime continues to wreck our economy.

I'm good with tinkering with computers, have prior warehouse experience, and was a decent bicycle mechanic at a bike shop 10 years ago. Not sure what else AI will take away next that will make my skills void. It wouldn't surprise me if me and my family end up living in poverty with lack of stable work a year or two from now. I've accepted this.

Things are terrible, and they are only going to get worse before they eventually get better someday. I've fully accepted that nobody is going to help us federal workers especially. I made my peace with the impending hardship that is coming for us all. Right now, I'm just going to enjoy the best that life has to offer, before I will have to struggle to feed myself and family someday, because of the Trump regime.

I hate sounding like a doomer, but I'm just being realistic. Until we have total regime change, it's just going to be this way. I know I've previously been more hopeful on this sub, but it's getting more clear as the days goes on, that without the courts stepping in, this agency is just going to do whatever they want even if it's illegal.

I wish you all the best, and good luck. It's going to suck badly for awhile, but I know SOMEDAY in the future all this pain and suffering will come to an end. We will all find jobs that will respect us as human beings, and provide for our families.

I wish you all the very best. We are all survivors.

Court dates for union stuff?

When are the actual dates for NTEU to have their cases heard in court? Specifically, things like if they have a right to exist in the workplace.

I know our courts are basically useless at this point, because of how slow they are. I just wanted to know if there were actual dates in courts for our fates to be decided.

Any tips for dealing with highway anxiety here?

Next week we're taking a road trip to Branson.

I've lived in midtown with places I need to go pretty close to me, basically my whole life. So the need to ever drive on the highway is non-existent. The majority of time I don't even to drive. I just ride my bike where I need to go.

I have driven on the highways here before to take road trips without any anxiety at all. However, the past couple years when I try to get on the highway, I get anxiety baaaaaaaaaad. I get the racing heart rate, fast breathing, and the sense that I'm going to die.

The root of this is just feeling like I don't have control at all, and either a stupid driver is going to hit me, or some other random bad thing will happen like getting too anxious I get a heart attack and die, and I won't be able to pull over or exit the highway. The wide lanes really get me. Ironically, merging isn't that stressful for me. It's just feeling like I can't escape if I need to once I'm in wide, multiple lanes.

This morning I practiced by getting on 71 from the Troost downtown on ramp going southbound. Merging went fine, but when I was in the middle lane, and someone was immediately to my right, blocking my way to get off the exit if I needed to, I freaked out.

Any tips on how to manage this, so I can enjoy my weekend trip to Branson? It's frustrating, because I feel like I'm a really confident driver overall, especially in the city. I have no issues whatsoever with city driving.

I've always known how bad the layout of the highways here are, and how bad other drivers are. Despite that, there was a time where I wasn't this intensely anxious dealing with those aspects.

I've had some seriously traumatizing personal stuff happen outside of my control happen to me since 2023. And with the state of the world literally getting worse every single day, and my job basically abusing me, it's awful feeling like I'm not in control.

I do go to therapy to work on these things, and I've made very good progress over the years. However, it's still difficult to deal with the highway despite some of useful techniques from therapy.

Do I need to dig deeper in my sub conscious to figure out what is getting me so fearful of the highway? Or is there something more simple I can do?

Any tips would really help me out. I want to enjoy taking a vacation with my family. We haven't done so in a long time.

Thanks.

IRS Surrenders: It Agrees to Stop the Unlawful Removal of NTEU Materials from the Workplace

FINALLY a win against this loser regime.

Copied from NTEU:

Two weeks ago, NTEU sued the IRS because it is unconstitutionally removing NTEU fliers, flags, and other materials from workplace common spaces and employees’ personal workstations.

Then, last week, NTEU filed a motion asking for an emergency order stopping the IRS’s actions. The IRS has been on its heels ever since. After reviewing NTEU’s motion, the IRS’s lawyers reached out to NTEU to propose a pause of its unlawful directive. And after the federal district judge overseeing this case conducted a conference with the parties this morning, the IRS agreed to an NTEU proposal that does what NTEU will always do for its members: it protects them.

As a court filing from today memorializes, the IRS has agreed to pause implementation of its directive ordering the removal of NTEU materials; agreed that employees may resume putting NTEU materials on their individual workstations and in common areas where they were allowed before the IRS directive; and agreed the IRS will return to employees any NTEU materials that have been confiscated (unless such materials are lost or destroyed). The IRS also agreed to notify NTEU and the Court if it ever tries this again.

This is a sweeping victory: it achieves what NTEU would have gotten through its motion for emergency relief and more.

This case, though, is not over. The parties will now turn to briefing the legality of the IRS’s directive through motions for summary judgment.

NTEU is not going anywhere. We will keep fighting for our members’ rights, including their First Amendment rights.

Just wondering if anyone has heard rumors about the agency making things worse for us? Will they take away our toilet privileges next?

Concerned about Oak St Bridge

I'm concerned about the bridge near Children's Mercy Hospital. (Where Gillham Rd turns into Oak St)

There's just too much debris on the bridge, and I feel like it's going to cause numerous flat tires for bicyclists and motorists alike.

Sometimes the city cleans it, but the mess almost immediately comes right back.

Is there something we could do about this?

I just don't want to get stranded on this bridge, or anyone else.

Been Thinking of Smoking Again

I stopped smoking cigarettes when the pandemic first started, because seeing people on ventilators put the fear of God in me. Haven't smoked since. Even if I only smoked one cigarette a day on average, it was still bad for me.

However, the situation in the government continues to get worse by the day. I'm a civilian employee, and as you know, we're basically abused. The current job market absolutely sucks, so I got no choice but to stay until they fire me, whenever that is.

I feel like things are going to get so bad, that whats the point of trying to be super healthy. I'm already a pretty healthy guy who does a lot of cycling and eats an okay diet. The only drug I do is a cup of coffee in the mornings. I don't drink, and have no desire to drink especially after my mom died from alcoholism in 2023. Even before she died, I just got bored of drinking, so I eventually just stopped all together in 2024.

However, recently in the past few months, I've had cravings for an American Spirit cigarette. My favorite brand when I used to smoke. The craving just came out of nowhere.

How the hell do I stop myself from doing something stupid? I don't want to smoke, and I don't want to have these cravings that I literally never had for 6 years.

This job and life is more stressful than I thought it could ever be, but I want to live for as long as possible for my son. I love my son, and don't want to risk the possibility of getting cancer and not being there for him like my parents weren't there for me.

I do therapy, been doing my best with anti-stress techniques, distracting myself with PC gaming, reading books, and riding bike. I have a good life, all things considered. Yet the current economic situation makes me think I'm going to be doomed eventually. So I might as well enjoy what I can anyway. Do you know what I mean?

We all don't deserve any of this bullshit we're dealing with from people in power, literally destroying the world. Yet, they're still on top, and we're all stressed the hell out, because of it.

TL;DR: My job and the state of world is making me want to smoke again after 6 years of being smoke free. How do I stop the cravings?

Collective Action Needs to Happen

Look, I get it. We all got bills to pay. The economy sucks. It's hard to find a new job. Striking against the government is illegal, etc.

At some point though, when is it enough? The courts are moving too slow to help us over abuse that is so obviously illegal.

I'm not saying to strike or anything of that nature. No.

No one is willing is stick their necks out, which is a damn shame in itself.

We NEED to be more active with our respective union chapters. We need to figure out ways to resist. Otherwise they'll just keep taking, and taking. Fascists don't have a goal post. They just keep pushing suffering until they hit a human limit, then you have things like D-day in response.

Do SOMETHING. I don't care how small of an act is. Just do it.

They'll fire us all eventually once they have the chance.

Odd smell in downtown?

It kinda smells like rotten rubber in downtown for the past couple days. It's hard to describe the smell.

Anyone know what it could be?

I feel like the smell might be coming from the northwest.

Is IRS TS policy makers?

Just got an email this afternoon, stating that an executive order will convert positions of certain employees responsible for "policymaking".

Does anyone know if this includes Taxpayer Services at the IRS yet?

I guess I'll find out if they send me an email, but it'd be nice to know ahead of time of being effected by illegal activity by this current regime. This way I can plan on not contributing to this broken economy as much in preparation of being fired illegally.

All done.

My sleeper setup is all done.

Thermals are fantastic!

The fans are near dead silent.

The power switch cable connector just lined up perfectly with all the pins. So I have the old school LEDs of the front panel working perfectly.

CPU and GPU both run between 60-70 C when running Doom the Dark Ages. (Incredible!!!)

The only issue I have right now is the GPU back lock mount doesn't fit very well, but will just use a sinple GPU mount so I'm not too worried.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 7600F

GPU: RX 7600

PSU: ASRock 850 watt gold (forgot the exact model name)

16 GB DDR5 RAM

Motherboard is a AsRock 650M Pro RS Wi Fi

2TB nvme running my Debian OS.

1TB nvme for more space

2TB Barracuda HD

Cooler is. Thermalight X53 low profile copper cooler

Artic X4 thermal paste

256GB external enclosure nvme SSD to run Windows 11 portable if I absolutely need to play Minecraft on PC or whatever else.

I couldn't be happier. The next upgrade will be a better GPU next year if life doesn't keep getting more expensive. Otherwise, I am satisfied to have this build last well into the next decade. I mostly played older Steam games and emulation.

Let me know what you think.

IRS Childcare Subsidy Recertification now Open

You have until June 30th to complete your Recertification using your 2025 tax return.

I'm really happy this program still exists. I am very surprised they didn't cut this.

Who knows, maybe they still will cut this program for the lolz eventually. In the meantime, our family will get some relief as much as we can in this economy.

Whew.....

Edit: Source: Just got the email 2 minutes ago.

Rate my Drilling

I know it's a little bit rough, but what do you think for a first time mod for extra air flow?

Any suggestions? Feedback is welcome. Like I said, it's a bit of a rough job. However, I feel good putting in the labor for this. If that makes any sense.

I think I'm going to call this good, so I don't push my luck.

Eventually this sleeper build is going to have a Ryzen 5 7600F and a RX 9070 in it, 850 watt PSU.

Childcare Subsidy Site down?

The childcare subsidy site seems to be down. (www.cnfc-irs-ccsp.com)
I tried our house Internet and mobile Internet. I tried using phone or a laptop and several different browsers. I can't connect. So I called, and the person on the phone said it was up on their end.
Is anyone else having issues?

I've never seen so many beer bottles and liquor bottles smashes at an intersection in my life. And I've lived here for a long time. I go through the intersection a lot almost everyday, so smashed glass, and trash is common. This time however, was crazy. Just glass and trash literally everywhere. Anyone have any idea who did this? I saw this mess at around 6am.
