6 teams who’ve scored more runs than they’ve given up. Texas and Cleveland are currently in the playoffs with winning records if the season ended today. But both teams are sporting negative run differentials while Boston and Detroit have losing records but have significantly more runs scored than runs given up.

If these trends continue the law of averages over a 162 game season should see Detroit and Boston move above .500 into playoff contention and Texas and Cleveland drop out and potentially under .500.

New York has a much better run differential than Tampa Bay so it would be expected that they would switch places in the standings if that trend continues for the 2nd half of the season. I’m not sure even if the numerous injured Sox players return that Boston can get higher than 3rd in the East with the sizable first half hole that’s been dug already. But I believe that the Red Sox will make the playoffs barring anymore significant injuries and the pathetic front office and ownership better act like it before the Aug. 3rd trade deadline or fans should start protesting in a more extreme manner than has been done so far this season.

Just for arguments sake let’s just start from the Bird/Magic era asking how would the 2026 Knicks fare against the 80’ Lakers’, the 81’ Celtics and so on. Of the 45 prior NBA Champions what would the 2026 Knicks record be and why is it 0-45?
