E string is significantly quieter, tried everything, any ideas?

Hey

So I got this bass like 6 months ago and it has been the biggest project I've been involved in, I've replaced the bridge, pots, tuners, nut and pickup aswell as strings several times and while it's a good bass (kind of a one trick pony but I honestly don't mind it that much) a problem has been persisten throughout my whole ownership of it, the E string has ALWAYS been quieter than the rest and the only things that have helped with it are raising the pickup to absurd extents, loads of compression or playing with a pick all downstrokes since It moves the string towards the center of the pickup. Im honestly dumbfounded as to why that particular string just wouldn't work and I refuse to believe I got 5 dead E strings everytime I restringed this bass. The tech I worked with on this bass says that I'm "Asking the bass for too much, that maybe this bass just cant deliver what I want" But I honestly think that's BS, a bass that can't play bass notes?

Either way, I'm thinking of a third pickup change and going with p bass pickups adapted to the moving platform (since this bass' pickups have always being guitar-like humbuckers, with it's current one being a Bill Lawrence H6 which does work great for bass but it still has the same problem) but I'm seriously confused as to how or why this happens, any and all ideas/tips/advices are welcomed.

Singer has problematic ideas

So, I'm a 20 yo bassist who has had the luck to find 5 other persons with who to rehearse and who all have similar musical interests as I do, we are in process of making a band together and so far most of our rehearsals have been awesome in terms of feel and real musicality. We are all young men which in this time tends to imply certain problems, both politically and morally speaking, most of the band had left-leaning or center leaning views while I would consider myself as the most left leaning or progressive, being part of the LGBTQ+ community and such. I try to keep politics away when I'm with them since it doesn't really come up in our conversations and I dont wanna be a party pooper by being that one friend that is too woke (although I am).

The problem comes with our singer, he's a fun guy, has nice taste in music, performs incredibly even at rehearsals and I feel he fits perfectly in our band but his ideas are very opposing to mine, even sharing stuff refering to ICE or to inmigration in our country (we're all from spain) aswell as expresing concern about "woke ideas" or saying that someone who has suffered SH episodes just did it for clout because they "never had any real problems".

Im honestly torn on what to do, I've been vocal about my ideas with him and he knows what I think, but Im worried it may lead to further tension or it will worsen the band's image in the long run all for a single member of a 5/6 piece band voicing stuff that doesn't represent the most of us, what would you do?

Edit: Took a look around his Instagram reposts and shit was way worse that I could imagine, 1 out of 4 reposted reels or posts are shitting on the left, feminism, inmigrants or whatever. Im going to have a talk with my guitarist to see what we do about him

N (to me) BD: Ibanez ATK 300

New member of the family! I can feel this is going to be a keeper. I've lusted for an ATK ever since I discovered Kyuss and their outstanding bassist Scott Reeder, his tones and his playing live using one of these became engraved in my mind. After 3 years of playing bass and constant search, I finally got this mint condition example of an ATK 300 (along with quite a sturdy gigbag) for less than 400€, just how I wanted it, maple neck and fingerboard, onboard 3 band eq, old style triple coil and the selector switch, aswell as it's bigass bridge and string thru body. This thing oozes comfort and character, I can barely play it properly due to having a new tattoo on my right forearm, but what little I played it sounded great, both the neck and the weight feel manageable when compared to my Grabber copy (Atk is 4.6kg while the grabber is 5 on the dot). The neck feels between my G&L L2000 (my main bass) and my Grabber, wide but kinda flat and super smooth. I still gotta get used to the eq but still, that sizzle and musicman-esque sound and feel is unbeatable, gotta see how well it will hold a BEAD setup since I'd like to have this one as my ultra low bass.

PD: Gotta thank u/memnoch4prez for inadvertedly fueling my love for these basses due to his lovely collection and impressive mods. Thanks man!!!

PD2: I also love that it has a volute and matching headstock, idk why lol.

Cheers!!!

Mastodon - The Motherload (Bass Cover)

Really fun song and really interesting bassline, quite upbeat and positive message which also helps, had a bit of a struggle dialing in the tone since my strings died really quickly, still, hope ya'll like it!

How to prepare for a flight carrying instrument/pedalboard

A bandmate lives in the Canary Islands here in Spain and it's possible his band presents their first LP in October at a festival and he wants me to play bass for them if it happens. I dont live in the Canary Islands, so I would have to get a flight, they do have basses they can lend me (both a 4 and 5 string) but I'm worried that learning the song on my bass and then changing it may lead to a worse perfomance due to change in feel, sound or whatever. So preferably I'd like to bring my bass along with me, aswell as my pedalboard since all my sounds comes from it basically. Im not that concerned about taking the bass itself as I can just get a hardshell case and basically make the whole bass Handler-proof with bubble wrap, though I'd appreciate tips for checking in with instruments. Im mostly worried about the power supply and if I should just travel with the pedals detached from the board and ask for a power supply once I'm with the band.

Please do have in mind airlines in Europe may have different regulations and stuff when compared to american ones, apart from that, all advice is welcomed

Pick advice/ID

So since I broke this pick I think there's no better time to ask for it other than now. I got this as a gift from buying a pickup from Wilde pickups (made by Bill Lawrence's widow) and it felt great and I intended on using it a lot. Was just playing Pantera and it broke, any idea on the thickness or the kind of pick it may be? Certainly feels harder and stiffer than most I've tried but not something like a Jazz III or a 1 mm one or smth like that

Going through the lowest point in my life emotionally and idk what to do

My (20m) 2026 has been quite literally the worst year of my life, I'm a spanish student in Uni trying to get a grade in Psychology, a career which, even though interesting, is filled with horrible people and only motivates me to study to get my scholarship on which I depend to live in a rented apartment with 2 other girls, and to spend a fraction of it in my actual interest, music and musical instruments.

My girlfriend (21f) dumped me at the start of the year right before the first batch of important tests of the second year of my career, all due to me not being comfortable with sexual activities due to certain anxiety revolving them because I didnt enjoy them and I became genuinely worried I was "broken" in some way. 5 days after my ex dumped me, my best friend (17f) did the same, with her reasons being "Im tired of responding your messages and if I keep doing it I will start to hate you, I still appreciate you, but we should talk less in general, don't get mad because I'm just putting myself first"

The rest of friendships I've had have crumbled aswell, either because they werent interested in me and just wanted to have me around, because I genuinely didn't like them and I just stuck around because I was afraid of being alone, or because I've been unable to keep them with me due to having taken a time apart from everybody because I genuinely wanted to lose my fear of being alone and I tried to get my shit together by myself. My friendship circle has been reduced to 3 persons with whom I barely talk to apart from my 2 roommates.

At a familiar level, my family is a bit complicated to deal with, not because they're abusive, but they genuinely dont comprehend what happens to people and most of the time I tried to explain my situation to someone in the family (mostly my mother (52F) or my aunt, my parents are divorced and my brother lives with his girlfriend in another city) they just say that they "go through the same" and that "things are just like that, people dont have real friends". A week ago, I moved to my town for a couple of days to study for my second batch of important exams, which start in 3 day, and that has ended up in my father (53m) threatening my mother to not pay her child support (which I didn't even knew you had to pay after 18) because I didn't speak to him or go to visit him (I've spent 6 days inside the house studying, he hasn't messaged me in any moment asking to see me). If my father did end up not paying my mother it would ammount to 1300€ a year she wouldn't receive, which, for our family's economy and most specifically my mother's, it's a lot. Luckily, on my side, I'm able to be self suficient due to my scholarship.

When I got mad about this, my mother said we're both guilty and that "I should know that my father is just like that and he does that stuff and that it's your fault for not speaking to him first". Basically she's excusing abusive behaviour. I tried to speak with my father but he said he doesn't want to speak to me for this weekend, after which I grabbed my stuff and I went back to the city I'm studying in.

I really don't know what to do with all the shit that's happening around me, I'm frustrated, exhausted and I have no one else to talk to, any advice is appreciated

Tips on next bass?

Hey, I found myself in a bit of a problem and I would like some help if possible. In 2 weeks I'll (probably) have 400€ to spend for a new bass, thing is, I'm torn between two options. The ATK 305 (Basically Ibanez's version of a stingray) and the recent Squier Tele Bass. Up next I'll list the reasons as to why I'm considering each bass:

ATK 305: It seems like a great versatile bass, maybe not the most comfortable due to weight and neck width, but it has been a bass I wanted since I started playing, also, recently the band I'm playing in has wanted to delve into songs with lower tunings (Korn and other 2000's nu metal) which are achieveable with a 4 string bass but it would obviously be a lot easier in a 5 string

Squier Tele Bass: Not as versatile, but the mudbucker sound has been very attractive to me as of lately since I've delved more into both Stoner/Doom rock and 60's/70's rock and their vintage tones. The main attractive of this bass for me it's that it looks like a great mod bed, I'm planning to add a couple of Thunderbird pickups and get a "Gibson" bass with both the mudbucker and T-bird sounds without having to drop actual Gibson money. This would leave me without the B string and with a sound that's not AS versatile as the ATK.

I'd appreciate some words of advice from the seasoned bass players in this sub, what are your experiences with both basses? What would you do/buy? Should I just get a thicker string gauge and stick to 4 string basses? Any advice is welcomed, thanks!!!
