Ken Follet - Stonehenge

I have loved all of his other historical fiction books.

But the writing style in this one seems, basic? Like really simplistic and very ‘he said, then she said’

It doesn’t seem his usual style. Does it improve?

Plastic free soaps for kids

Trying to reduce the plastic in our beauty/health products one at a time.

We’re out of kids body wash.

Problem I have with a soap bar is that it is just way too slippery for my kids to really use (6&9) and they never put it back so it just wastes away to quickly.

Body wash wise, I have something I like that gentle and not expensive because it you have kids you’ll know they squirt out body wash like there’s no tomorrow.

Interested to see what solutions you have had luck with. I’m in Europe so products recs appreciated!

Pattern Recs for growing Beginner

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some pattern recommendations!
I’m a beginner and so far have knit an Oslo Hat and a Sophie scarf both by Petite Knit.

I think for my next project I’d like to try something either with ribbing (haven’t done any purling yet) or with two colours. Needs to be something small and achievable, keeps my momentum going ☺️

Would love some suggestions for a beginner!

Humbly Proud

I am so so proud of myself for teaching myself to knit. My first project was a Sophie scarf and this Oslo Hat by petite knit is my second. I think I did a pretty good job! I see people here posting completed project that are much much more impressive than this but hey, everyone starts somewhere.
My husband is really touched I made it for him.
Now, what to make with the full ball of yarn I have left….?

How do you track projects

I have a pattern for this on my phone but one of the things I like about knitting is it’s screen free. I’m also very visual so I drew this out to help me with the decreases on my hat. I move the little needle tip thing around as I go so I know where I am, and cross off rows as I go.

Just interested to see how everyone tracks their work or the instructions thier currently following.

Knitting Math! 🧮

I’m knitting the Oslo Hat by Petite Knit, and its first hat!
I’m at the point where on the next row I will start my decreases to shape the top/dome part.

Now, when I cast on, right at the bottom, I cast on (112) stitches for the size I was wanting to make.

I now have 118 stitches, I guess I accidentally added a few in some place.

The next size up on the pattern would have been 120 stitches cast on, and it has advice for how to space stitch markers for the spot I’m at going forward for the two sizes I’m looking at:

“Place a marker every (28th) 30th stitch to the end of the round (a total of 4 stitch markers, counting the beginning of the round marker). Now work decreases on every other row as follows:”

What would you do at this point? Should I just add in a couple more stitches so it matches the large size at 120 and then keep my math the same the rest of the pattern? Or should I divide 118 stitches by 4 - which doesn’t divide equally anyway - and do my own math from here on (I’m worried this will get complicated 🫣)

Thank you!

Hello everyone,

I’ve watched a LOT of videos but I really can’t work this out.

I’m knitting the Oslo Hat by petite knit, and I need to now join the cast on edge to the edge I’m knitting. I did not do a provisional cast on (I tried and failed too many times 🫣).

I’m just really unsure where I should be picking up the stitches on the edge. Here’s a few pics of the cast on edge. Do I take it from the ‘side’ or right on top?

Maybe the colours help to identify where I should put the needle through - green, red, purple, yellow.

Any additional tips to make this step easier appreciated!

But I’m not sure what! 🫣

I did have a dropped stitch around here somewhere, I thought I fixed it right but maybe not. Or maybe I did and this is some other thing I did wrong 🤣

Please help a newbie out!
