I’m dealing with a pretty frustrating situation with an European Airline and could use advice. To summarize in bullet points:
- Flight: JFK to Athens, Greece on April 24, 2025
- Situation: Delayed ~24h -> then fully cancelled
- No proper rerouting offered
Okay, super frustrating, at least under EU261 I’m entitled to €600 compensation.. So:
- I filed a claim to that effect with the airline -> but they completely ignored my emails
- After multiple attempts I escalated to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (because the flight went to Greece)
- They contacted the airline in Oct 2025 (I'm cc'ed)
- Airline was supposed to respond by Dec 3, 2025 the latest
But since then, and despite multiple follow up emails:
- No response from the airline at all
- And no update from HCAA either
So at this point I am wondering how to proceed:
- Is my only option legal action (EU small claims)?
- Has anyone successfully forced payment in a case like this?
- Any other escalation paths I’m missing?
Would appreciate any advice or similar experiences.
