My wife (Anna, 44f) is a writer. Last month she rented a small home near a beach town for two weeks to finish a book she’s been working on. Each morning Anna would get coffee and bring notes to the same spot at the shore at sunrise to organize her thoughts.

The first day, a young man (mid 20s) was swimming when she got there. He was nude, and didn’t seem to care or acknowledge Anna. She was surprised and kind of felt she was intruding, but laughed it off (and told me about all of the above later that day).

The next day, same spot, same guy. This continued for a week straight and he finally came over on day 7 and introduced himself (naked) and they chatted. He said it was his last day, he was heading back to Spain. She told me and friends about all of it - she said it was an unusual experience but funny and interesting.

When showing me photos of her trip, there were 6 photos of the Spain guy, all of him walking nude. I was surprised and had questions. I get it, this was an unusual situation, but it was weird to see these pictures that she had taken and saved.

I’m wondering whether to let this go or explore it as a possible issue.

Like “what if I knocked over this newspaper rack at the grocery store” or “what if I screamed curse words right now at this dance recital” or whatever. Just random weird thoughts - I don’t have these, but she says she always has had them from time to time.

She told me yesterday that when she was in our utility room in the basement (a relatively small room) with a repair guy, she thought “what if I just fucked this guy right now?”

We both found it hilarious when she told me but afterward I was thinking, is this messed up and should I be following up on this somehow? Is my wife insane.

My wife (54f) and I (56m) have been married 25 years. We’re generally on the same wavelength on most things, but a recent development has caught my attention.

Our sex life is pretty good, about 4-6 times a month, good variety. But over the past 5 months or so she has preferred more aggressive, more impersonal sex. Very little emotion before, during or after, the harder the better, no matter the position.

It’s almost animalistic, which wasn’t always the case when she was younger, no matter the position. And the same goes for when she’s on top.

I don’t want to overthink this or create problems where there are none, and we are both enjoying ourselves and getting off. But this is a noticeable change and I’m wondering if I should bring it up or let it lie. Could something be going on with her? Generally I don’t like to force “heavy” conversations about sex and just go with the flow.
