Hi I am currently reading my Catholic Bible and have reached the New Testament. I came across this verse and I looked up an interpretation of this entire chapter and they said that this verse is proof that there was no perpetual virginity of Mary and thus there was no assumption and her role as mediator between gods and believers do not exist.

I’m looking for clarification of this verse because this line does seem to deny the perpetual virginity of Mary.

Hi I’m 27F from Vancouver Canada. Timezone is PDT. I want to regularly practice French with someone in exchange for English. I freeze when speaking French and i want to get over that. I am around A2 level in French and Having regular convos will hopefully help me.
I am a native English speaker and I have also taken the IELTS exam and scored 8.5 overall with a 9 in speaking, so if you want we can also do IELTS or TOEFL test focused questions.
I am available during mornings and afternoons all week as I am fully focusing on learning French.

Hi I need some help with reading and speaking sections of the tef. For reading - I can do A1 & A2 questions with little difficulty but B1 onwards - I’m able to understand a lot of the texts but I miss one or two words or sometimes a word has a different meaning than what is being given so I can’t translate it well. Any pointers on what articles I can read to improve my vocab? What were helpful resources for you to collect and memorize vocab?

For speaking - i don’t have anyone in my life that I can speak French with daily. Any tips on using AI to help me improve my speaking? My brain shuts down whenever I speak, I can form small sentences and questions but I hesitate a lot and stutter.

Hi I tried to download anki on my Mac and I wasn’t able to open it and the reason they gave was that my Mac’s software is updated to 12.7.6 and it needs 13 to run.
I’m did use the Mac-intel.dmg when downloading anki but it is still not opening.

For reference, I am a cradle born catholic. I’m asking this question because someone said that Catholicism is fake, and the person who said that is someone who has a great relationship with god and has helped me grow closer to god. She also said there isn’t purgatory because it’s not mentioned in the bible. This is a TikToker called shaiie_foe a who used to do fun potluck reviews and recently started posting only Christian content. I know not to blindly believe someone on TikTok but if you see her videos, the Holy Spirit works through her and her videos align with the Bible teachings and have helped me with Bible interpretations.
I’m not doubting my Catholic faith, I just want to know why Catholicism over other Christian denominations?

I’ve been applying for jobs on Linkedln for the past 6 months. I’ve recently noticed this issue. A recruiter from Hays DMs me on Linkedln asking for my availability at 7am Vancouver time. She was based in Toronto and asked to meet at 1pm her time which is basically 10am here on the same day. By the time I saw the message it was already past 10am and she herself called me to reschedule to a later date and asked me to send my availability which i did immediately. She never replied back and I sent another follow up request.
Then yesterday another recruiter reached out to me asking for my availability for a quick phone call and I responded back within 4 mins. Got ghosted again.

What is wrong with recruiters?? I’ve also worked in recruiting for a short while and not once have I ever treated a candidate like this. I’m so frustrated.

For context I’m a 27F Indian. I do not have any desire for marriage or kids. My parents want to look for arranged marriage matches for me. This is the norm in India. I have no desire to marry anymore. I’m utterly disgusted with the regressive mentalities of Indian men (they expect you to live with the in laws, contribute to half of everything, but also do all the household work and chores). If they don’t have this mentality, then they are full of pride and ego. I’m not talking generally, this is what I’ve observed looking at the men around me. I am a virgin as well and not dating anyone. What I want to know is, is this lifestyle okay according to Catholic teachings?

I’m a Catholic who’s trying to get closer to god and all I’m getting the same messages through the Bible and preachers - detach from material/worldly things like jobs, money, music,tv, social media basically - anything that that brings enjoyment. Realistically how is this possible? I cannot completely isolate myself from the outside world and just focus on god outside of work and gym. It’s driving me insane and I’m just freaking exhausted and questioning the meaning of life. If life is meant to be lived like this what is the point of living??? I would have been much happier never existing.

This is my first 24 hour fast. I’m doing it to be closer to god. I wanted to know what kind of prayers/lectures should I be doing? Rosary, chaplet of divine mercy, reading Bible, watching Christ related shows? I don’t have a great attention span and I get easily distracted if I have to do very long and repetitive prayers. Any recommendations on what would be the most beneficial to make this fast productive towards god?

While I completely agree that there is nothing like home cooked Italian meals, i cannot simply come to your homes 😂😂 I sometimes want a cheat meal after gym so I started this quest to find the best carbonara in Vancouver.

Second edit - I tried the carbonara at Di Beppe. It was amazing 🤩 I just realized that I have never had carbonara with guanciale before it was always served with pancetta. Guanciale has a much stronger flavor and I could taste it in every bite of the spaghetti. If I ever get brave enough to cook carbonara at home, I’m getting guanciale. The carbonara was a little heavier than what I’m used to but I’m definitely coming back for a carbo load. I have no complaints with the food. 10/10 recommend 🥰

I’m shocked at some of the theories toxic Manon solo fans have come up with like Lara/Megan are jealous of her and want her out, some Coachella beef, group is split into two etc. all these theories are wild af with no basis in truth. I have yet to see any sort of evidence of this beef between Manon and any of the girls. Someone made a post showing some wild TikTok theory about Lara being jealous of manon and asked her parents to kick out Manon. WTF??? Are people genuinely that freaking dumb? Do they have no concept of what a business contract is or the legalities of a contract?? This is not some AO3/Wattpad romance fiction where the girls are y/n with some rich powerful ceo backing them and Manon is some innocent secondary character.

It’s my first time posting and just wanted to shared some thoughts about some of the posts I’ve read about Lara and Indian culture as well.

I’m a dark skinned South Indian girl who grew up outside of India and wants to give some context.
I think the whole over sexualization of her body is a direct result of her environment. Think of Lara as Devi from Never Have I Ever and it all makes sense. Indian women aren’t really seen as desirable or sexy and don’t get much attention from the opposite gender especially if you grow up outside India. There is a good chance she faced similar circumstances which has now led to her hyper-sexualizing her self in every situation and it’s getting to a point where it is embarrassing. The back arch and siren eyes in every photo is killing me. Also her parents are wayyy too chill with her and her sister sexualizing themselves for the industry.

I saw a couple of unhinged posts that were calling her skin tone fake? Indian skin tones changes during seasons and can look very dark or light depending on the lighting conditions. That is actually her skin color, it just looks very different during seasonal changes, I’ve experienced this as well during the summer and winter(have to get different foundation shades for each season). During Coachella her skin tone got much darker for this reason as well, 2 weeks in the direct sun will darken your skin like crazy.

There is another point someone made about Lara not speaking Hindi or knowing about Bollywood. India is a sub-continent for a reason. Within India there are over 100+ regional languages who have their own regional movies and actors/actresses. While Hindi is the most widely spoken language in India it is not the national language. It is very common to not speak hindi if you live in the southern states of India because they have their own regional language. Hindi is sort of a second/third language people speak. Lara is from Tamil Nadu and the regional language is Tamil. They have their own movies (the official term is called Tollywood) which Bollywood often copies. Most of Bollywood’s top performing movies are directly copy and pasted from top performing Tamil movies.
For people who have been born and brought up outside of India, we usually learn our mother tongue as our second language and don’t really bother learning other Indian languages because we don’t live in India.
