Responding to Casual Homophobia in Everyday Conversations
Every time someone makes fun of gay people, I tell them there’s a 30% chance their parents, cousins, neighbors, colleagues — or even they themselves — are gay, and maybe trying to hide it by attacking it. I even said that once to my parents and siblings, and ladies and gentlemen… that’s basically how they realized I’m gay.
