Why is everyone getting a desk shelf to raise the monitor?

Everyone online is using desk shelfs to raise their monitor. I must have a very weird body shape because if I'd raise my 27" monitor I'd be looking up at it. As I wear varifocal lenses, I would rather be looking down - or straight ahead. Looking up is definitely no good. I am 160cm/5'3". Plenty of people are the same height. Why is everyone getting a shelf? They'd have to raise their chair a lot, messing up the floor-chair setup. If you aim is to look straight ahead and your eye level hitting the top third area of your monitor, desk at appropriate height for arms, and feet flat on the floor..... I don't get it...... Suspect it's just aesthetics. Those desk shelves look nice.

Sennheiser HD660S2 or HD800s for bigger soundstage?

I know, I know, bit of a price difference. I've got the Sennheiser HD660S and really like them but I'd like a bigger soundstage for these massive orchestral pieces of Mahler and Stravinsky (loads of noise! needs depth and separation etc). Am playing off my MacBook pro M1. So I got as far as the HD660S2 and the very expensive 800s....
Any thoughts?
(as a small female with narrow head am a little concerned the 800s will fall off my head? The 660S are tight - good).

Hi, my Kef LSX II are wired to each other and into my MacBook pro, I use Apple music. The speakers don't seem to be able to handle low bass - it starts cracking and there is regular stuttering. When in wifi mode, it's the same. I disconnected them from each other and turned of that mode in the app - still the same.
It really ruins listening to music.... Any ideas?? Thanks!
(PS: I play classical music only)

EDIT: I’ve tried everything, remived the extension cords, removed all potential interference and no joy. Played them
In my kitchen and cracking and ticking was gone. Back in my study, living room- cracking and ticking at low bass. I’ve tried a Tacima mains conditioner and still cracks. I don’t know what else to try.
ai suggested an IfI DC blocker- anyone know about those? Or a subwoofer…
