Any Afghan Americans or Europeans here?
As an Afghan born and living in the West, I wonder if there are other supporters( or self-identified LGBT Afghans) There was a sub for that but it’s not very active

im a 27 y/o Muslim guy in the US. Serious about the deen but more progressive. I’m interested in philosophy/religion/literature/the arts and value intellectual curiosity
Im open to older women. Looks aren’t that important to me but I’d prefer a woman with a sweet feminine voice and demeaner. Feel free to comment or message if interested ; only serious women please)
Salam folks
Eid Mubarak!
im a young Muslim man in the US getting close to the end of my BA. I’d like to get married and have been using a few matrimonial sites( like Half Our Deen) I’m looking for an open-minded intellectually curious woman with similar interests( philosophy, religion, literature, the arts, etc) The unfortunate reality is that the vast majority of women on these websites are in finance/medicine/tech/engineering and not really into the humanities. A lot of the people I’ve encountered also really want a guy who makes big money. ( I understand wanting a guy to make a decent wage but some people are very materialistic)
intellectual curiosity and kindness are the most important qualities to me. I don’t care about age, looks, the career/income a woman has etc. ( it also doesn’t bother me if someone is divorced or has a past)
Where would I find the type of woman I’m looking for in the Muslim community?
Feel free to message me with advice( or if interested )
Hey guys
im nearing the end of my BA( about a year left) and im wondering which subfield of paralegal work would fit me best
I love research and writing and would prefer something low stress( or at least low stress when it comes to paralegal work) I’d be happy starting salary around 45k and a ceiling of 65-70k.
Also, I have a visual impairment( no vision in my right eye and limited vision in my left) for physical documents, I use large print, and I also use magnification software on my laptop, as well as screen readers for longer documents. If handwriting is really messy it’s difficult to read for me.
For what it’s worth, I know a completely blind paralegal who works at a non-profit and loves it
What type of firm/subfield would be best given all this?
Im a young convert to Christianity and nearly done with my BA. ( baptized/confirmed Roman Catholic but now identify as an Anglo-Catholic Episcopalian- there are no Anglo-Catholic parishes near me currently so I attend the large local “broad church”Episcopal parish with an excellent music program)
That being said, I want to move to a larger city with a well-known Anglo-Catholic parish once I finish my degree.
im craving an intellectual community with a top music program in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. I visited St. Paul’s K St and loved it( it’s got everything I’m looking for) So that’s certainly an option
Im also considering
St. Clement’s Philadelphia
Church of the Advent Boston
Church of St. Mary the Virgin NYC( Smoky Mary’s )
St. Ignatius of Antioch Church ( also in NYC)
Can folks who know these parishes tell me what their crowd/vibe is?( as in what type of people generally attend and whether they have a good number of young adults- 20s/30s folks)
Salam guys
im a young Muslim man currently finishing up my bachelors degree philosophy. I was actually raised culturally Muslim, but became a ChristIan in 2018. However, after discovering the Islamic philosophical tradition, I returned to Islam a few years ago. I had a few questions. I think this group might have some thoughts on.
Are there any English speaking living Sunni scholars who engage seriously with the Falsafa tradition?( Ibn Sina, Al-Farabi, Al-Kindi etc) I really like the stuff Brethren of Purity puts out but that’s a Shi’i group from what I understand
After I finish my BA I’ll probably attend law school. However, I’d like to learn classical Arabic if I can to study the Islamic sciences/Islamic philosophy with private teachers once I’m established. That being said, I’m visually impaired( no vision in my right eye and limited vision in my left) I memorized the Arabic alphabet very quickly with the help of my Imam. I am able to read clear Arabic script like this with no real issue( I read a bit slowly but that’s it)
https://www.searchtruth.com/chapter_display.php?chapter=2&translator=7
However, I’ve heard that texts in Uslamjc philosophy don’t always ( or even often) have this type of clear Arabic script. When script is jumbled or poorly written it’s pretty much impossible to read for me
Any thoughts on how I could overcome that obstacle? I’m very passionate about seriously studying these subjects at some point but my poor vision makes things tough
Feel free to DM me
Salam guys
im a young man with a very unique story. I was raised culturally Muslim but then became a Traditional Catholic after being exposed to Catholic philosophy and theology at a Catholic prep school. However, after discovering the Islamic philosophical traditiin( Ibn Arabi, Ibn Sina, Al-Farabi), I returned to Islam a few years ago. I have a few questions which I wanted some thoughts on as I’m still relatively new to being a serious Muslim in a Muslim community.
Do women like that exist in the American or Muslim community? I know there’s a debate about music in Islam but putting that aside what would you guys say? I tried using Half Our Deen but thatsite mainly seems to cater to business professionals or STEM professionals. (whereas i’m looking for a serious intellectual/artsy type of person )
What do you guys think?
Also, what are the most intellectual and cultured Muslim communities in the United States where I could discuss philosophy and religion with a good number of people?
