Need help, rear hatch wont open

Hatch on my 2001 SR5 won’t open when the handles pulled nor when any of the levers are manually pulled when I have the rear panel taken off. Is there a way for me to reach and disengage the lock manually? I was thinking about taking an ankle grinder and cutting out a slot in the metal to access the actual lock mechanism from inside the Cab. YouTube has been completely unhelpful, every video is about replacing the lock and how to get it open assuming that the cable is the thing that’s the issue. Nothing talks about the situation where the cable is fine and the handle is fine and how to unlock the physical latch mechanism manually. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please help! Trying to get this lifted 3 “ 5 lug 2.4L

I’m looking to get this truck lifted 3 inches and need help doing it. What did you guys do to lift your five lug Tacomas? I plan on keeping this truck as it was received as a gift from a close friend, so please avoid just commenting “go to a six lug”. Its a 2000 Tacoma 2.4L 5 lug manual. I won’t be doing anything except very light trails and just drives between Post Falls idaho and Seattle.

OK, here’s the TLDR on my life, when I turned 18 I took on serious debt in order to fund stupid things in my young life that put me in a bad financial spot. I turned 20 and started to turn my life around fast-forward to now I am 28 and I make about $150,000 per year. I have two kids and a wife. I bought a house and right now when I’m focused on is building a government contracting business and wanting to begin planning for retirement since I haven’t put any emphasis on that until now.

So I am in about $65,000 in debt that is my car, credit cards, and personal loans.

I realize I could ask ChatGPT to scour the Internet on the best methods to plan for my situation, but I want to hear from real people. If you were my age making the money I’m making in the position I’m in, how would you bring your credit score from the low 600 to high 700/800 and what would you do to secure a self sustaining retirement by 50/55?
