Missing VHS Tape, Suddenly Not Missing...

13 years ago, just before I moved out of my Mom's house, I was getting all of my family's home movies together which were on a total of eight VHS tapes.

I had two tall, green RubberMaid tubs that were both half full of various cartoon and movie VHS tapes. These home movies were in their own sleeves (they still are today) and all of them were in these two tubs. They were also the only tapes in these tubs with sleeves. I found all of the home movie tapes, except one. I got every single tape out of these two tubs, checked them, and put them back one-by-one. That tape was not there and neither was its sleeve. I checked my VCR and nothing was in it. I asked my sister if she had seen the tape. She checked her VCR, around her whole room, and in her closet. Nothing. I asked my Mom if she had seen it. We never kept any VHS tapes in the front room at this house so she said she obviously had not seen it.

I looked non-stop around the house for a whole week, even emptying out the tubs again and again to see if maybe I missed the tape. Nope. It wasn't there, no matter how much I looked.

A little time went by and I was looking through one of the RubberMaid tubs again. Well, to my amazement, I found the tape. What makes this very odd is it was also in its sleeve. Like I said, these tapes are all still in the same sleeves today. The only difference between this one and the others is that it's branded "Magnavox". The others are either Polaroid or Kodak. Not that the branding matters, but you would think that the different branding would make it stick out like a sore thumb. I asked my mom and sister if they had somehow found it and just put it in that tub without telling me and neither one of them knew what I was talking about. I'm glad I found it, but I'll never understand how it disappeared like that.

Teleporting House Keys

My Grandpa came home one day after driving cars around the area for a local dealership. I heard him turn the key in the door before he came into the house. Now this lock on the front doorknob at my grandparent's always had a very distinct "thump" sound when it unlocked. This is how I know my Grandpa used his key to unlock the door.

A little bit later, my Grandpa went in the backyard to cut grass and look through his garden. When he came back inside a couple hours later, he asked me if I wanted to go get something to eat. He went to get his truck key and noticed that his house keys were missing from the key ring. We looked on the floor and around the house but never found them. Since my Grandma was home, she just told us to ring the doorbell when we came back with the food. Well, we went out to the street where the truck was parked and my Grandpa looked on the ground by the driver's side door. His house keys were on the ground, in the street. There are no other sets of keys to this house besides my Grandma's. She checked her purse and her keys were still there. Needless to say, we never figured out how those keys wound up in the street after he had used them to get into the house.

Freak Accident At The House - Everyone is Fine

We had a weird thing happen in the basement today. My son and I were putting the cats away and then started playing hide and seek. We turned off all the lights in the basement and had a little light coming from the door of the utility room and from the door that leads to the steps. My son was over on the opposite side of the basement and I went over by the door where the steps are. I then feel something hit me on top of the head really hard. I had to pull out my phone and turn on the flashlight to see what it was. Somehow, the headboard that we had put up against the wall a few months ago after we got rid of a bed decided to fall at that moment and go after me. I didn't touch it, my son was nowhere near it, and both cats were put away for the night in the utility room. This headboard is padded and also made of wood, and the weight of it falling not only hurt pretty good, but it scared me half to death because we were in the dark.

My wife is upstairs with the baby and comes to the top of the stairs asking what happened. I told her I'm ok and showed her what hit me. Her face turned from a look of concern to a look of annoyance. My son is on the other side of the basement crying asking if I'm okay, and he comes and hugs me. After he heard it hit me, he turned on the light at his end of the basement and yelled for me.

I write all that to say this... I think my wife sometimes is annoyed if I get hurt. Her exact words today were, "You're ok. You're up and walking around. You didn't get a concussion."... Yeah, ok, well, you know how heavy that headboard is. I'm glad you're so concerned...

To put this in perspective, I hurt my ankle real bad a few years back and she was really annoyed that I was hobbling around like a cripple. Well, when the bruise came, she automatically started saying how sorry she was and didn't realize how bad I was hurt.

Does anyone else's wife like to talk down an injury or just get annoyed when something happens to you that could have been a lot worse?

Some Things I Don't Understand

So I'm a stay-at-home dad and have been for four years. My wife and I have a son and a daughter together. Our son will be 5 next month and our daughter is 7 months old. My wife works from home and does very well at her job. For the last six months though, her job has gotten very busy to the point where she wants to quit and find another job. I have been applying for jobs to see if we can just switch roles, but the hits that I have been getting either offer very low pay or they are recruiter hits and they go no further than that. I have a buddy who said I could go into Corrections, but then I would have to leave home during the week for 8 weeks for training and come home on weekends. My wife already told me that this was not possible since we don't have the family support that she would need during the week.

Lately, I feel like my wife has gotten so burnt out from work that she is not only taking it out on me, but she is making up these "scenarios" in her head and she won't talk to me about anything. If I have a difference of opinion on something around the house, I am immediately shut down. And if something isn't done that I either forgot to do, didn't know was an issue, or just haven't gotten to yet, and she yells at me about it.

For example, a few months ago, I had unboxed a package of Sam's Club paper towels and she asked me to put them in the garage on top of the shelf along the wall. I did that, but figured they would be hard to reach. There is a step ladder in the garage near the shelf, so it didn't end up being a problem. One day last week, my son and I came home from the playground and found all the paper towels at the bottom of the basement steps. I didn't say anything because I figured she put them there until she could think of a new spot. Fast forward to this morning. She tells me I'm not doing enough and that I should have found a new area for the paper towels. I told her that I'm not the one that wanted them relocated and that if she had already moved them, she should have relocated them instead of just tossing them down the steps. That didn't go well. In her mind, it was my fault that they were at the bottom of the steps.

A couple weeks ago, we had our pickup truck parked in the street along the curb and came out one morning and noticed the driver's side mirror was hanging off the arm. Someone had hit it and we never saw who did it. I was looking into ordering a replacement and needed help from a friend. He and I were texting back and forth constantly over the last week about which mirror I needed and his availability. I was also on Reddit quite a bit looking at pros and cons of third party mirrors vs. OEM and how many pin connectors are needed for our particular truck. Anyway, she told me that I had been on my phone a lot in the last week or so and she wasn't liking it. She said I wasn't paying attention to the kids and that I was on my phone when I should have been "helping her". I told her that 15 seconds of me on my phone is not hurting anything. The kids at that point were on the floor playing. I had already been in the kitchen cleaning, cooking, and doing laundry throughout the day. If I am on my phone at any point during the day, it triggers her. Even if I am completely finished with all the chores and the kids are playing independently. During the day, I am constantly on the floor with them playing, or taking my son outside while my daughter is napping. I don't know if I should just start bowing my head and say "yes ma'am" or stand up for myself.

Another odd fight we had was over an envelope that was addressed to her from our credit union. I asked her if she knew anything about it because it was sitting in our mail bin that is on the wall next to the door that leads to the garage and she had put it there I only saw that it was addressed to her, but couldn't tell if it was open because I had my hands full with food coming in from the garage freezer. She snapped back at me to open it if I was so concerned about it. I told her that it wasn't addressed to me and that, in passing the bin, I couldn't tell if it had been opened or not and that I had my hands full at that point. She then said "I am tired of managing you. Open the mail if you have any questions about it."

Also, lately, she has seen an issue with me doing the cat litter boxes in the evening when we are trying to wind down, feed the kids, and start bed time. It literally only takes me 5 minutes to get our two cats, put them downstairs, and scoop out the litterboxes. She says it would be more efficient if I did the litterboxes during the day. I told her that doesn't make sense because I have to go down there anyway to put them away (they won't voluntarily go down so I end up having to carry them).

There is another thing that she has done in the last year or so that really does not help when things are busy or we have to bring in groceries, or if there's chaos with the kids, etc. I will ask her where she wants something moved that belongs to her. Her answer is "I don't care". Not only do I feel like that is a brush off, but it is condescending. If I put something in the wrong place, I catch hell for it. I put her coffee beans in the tall cabinet in the mudroom one time instead of where she thought they should go (in the kitchen cabinet) and she told me to not put them in there again. Ok, simple mistake. But please don't say "I don't care where you put something" if you have a preference. Help me help you.

This is a petty one, but it needs to be said... I know our mail (if it isn't junk) should go in the mail bin by the door to the garage so it can be looked at later. Sometimes though, my son and I come in from outside, I see an important piece of mail and I open it. I put it in the mail bin. My wife then comes upstairs from work and wonders why the rest of the mail is sitting on the kitchen counter. I told her I had just set it there and was going to put it in the mail bin after I get our son something to eat. It quickly becomes an issue with her that the mail was on the counter and not in the bin in the ten minutes it has been in the house.

To wrap this all up, I am constantly trying to make sure I have everything done because I do not want to catch hell or hear my wife go into a tirade because I didn't sanitize the kitchen or pick up all the toys in the living room in the timeframe she has in her head. There are times when she sees me in the kitchen frantically trying to get three or four things done at once and proceeds to tell me it's "no big deal" but then if I don't get it done, I hear about it later. There have also been times when I forget to put something on the shopping list and it doesn't get bought. I get mad at myself for forgetting it because it's usually some meat we need, or we are out of dish soap and needed more but forgot it. I will literally be mad because we all get mad if we forget to order something we are out of. She looks at me and tells me I need to calm down, and that it's "no big deal". Ok, I understand she is trying to help, but in that moment, I feel she is mocking me. If we end up forgetting to put something on the grocery. We usually get deliveries from Walmart because they are convenient. If something isn't available or I forget to add it, we can't just reorder it for another delivery because then we have to pay a $7 under minimum fee if the order is under $30. Anyway I digress. I feel like I am being told one thing, and then I get hit with something else later. And if I try to talk to her about it, she says work is killing her and in her words, "there is nothing you can do about it because you don't understand it".

Thank you for reading. I love my wife and I love how great of a mother she is to our children. I just wish there was a way for me to talk to her lately without her biting my head off. I know her job has been tough, and I want to be there for her.

Cimarron 9mm vs. Taylor's & Company 9mm

I'm having trouble making up my mind between the nickel plated Cimarron Pistolero (9mm) and the all-blued Taylor's & Company TC9 (9mm) with the Army size grip. In your opinion, what would be the better buy for casual plinking? They are both pretty much the same price at Bud's Gun Shop - the Pistolero is $632 and the TC9 is $640.

How did Rob-Will know...?

So Rob-Will shows up to Chet's hotel room unannounced... I'm sure Rio Paloma is a smaller area and there aren't many places someone would be able to hide. But here's the thing, if Rob-Will didn't follow Chet to the hotel, how would he know he wasn't at the 10-Petal unless Joaquin tipped him off?

Possible Storylines for Season 3

Which storylines would you like to see adapted in Season 3? Personally, I would love to see X-Cutioner's Song and possibly X-Tinction Agenda. Since Cable is a part of both in the comics, he could be featured heavily in Season 3. I think two other great possibilities would be Mutant Massacre and Fall of the Mutants. Those two would work well together by having the Marauders and the Adversary involved in both and them having a "battle to the death" with the X-Men, so to speak. Not only does the story within "Fall of the Mutants" cause there to be a Mutant Registration Act, but the Mutant Massacre could add to that by having the battles with the Marauders spill into the streets of New York. Daredevil and Thor could make appearances like they did in the comics. Also, having Mutant Massacre in Season 3 could set up Mister Sinister returning and impersonating Apocalypse for X-Cutioner's Song in Season 4... Just a thought 😀

X-Factor Annual #5 Removed?

I had the dreaded "Hydra" symbol showing when I tried to re-read X-Factor Annual #5 from my list of "read" issues. I went into the reading guide for Days of Future Present to start it from there, but the same thing happened. I then went into the "series" tab for X-Factor Annual and the issue is completely missing from the list. Does anyone have a clue as to why it might have been removed from the app?

Stryfe

Since they are clearly adapting "Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix" in Season 2, what do you think the odds are of us seeing a young Stryfe in the future? I could see them not having him in the present timeline and just saving "adult" Stryfe for later. Season 3 would do great with an Onslaught/X-Cutioner's Song adaption, in my opinion.

Horsemen - When, Where, and How Many?

Do you think it's possible that we will see a set of Horsemen in the Future as well as another set in the Present? Or will the Horsemen just be in the Present with Gambit as Death? I also had a thought that Gambit will possibly be the only "Horseman" and we won't get a War, Famine, or Pestilence... That would be slightly disappointing, but it would also make it to where the story centers on Gambit's return from the dead, the emotional toll it will take on Rogue and the rest of the X-Men, and what it will take to get him back on the good side.

What are your thoughts?

My Feral Wolverine Theories

We already know the comics won't be strictly followed because Tyler Dayspring/Genesis hasn't been introduced. There will definitely be some type of "workaround" in how Logan goes feral and then completely gets his Adamantium back.

Here are a few theories on how we might get "Feral" Logan...

  1. Morph turns into Wolverine and is doing the classic "come here" pose during a fight with someone. This is before he, Logan, Deathstrike, and Sabretooth get to the room that has all the "laser discs". This is also why there is a "metal" sound when the claws come out. Something fails during the Adamantium feed and Logan goes into his feral state.

  2. That is indeed Logan doing his classic pose, after he gets his Adamantium back. His body then somehow rejects the Adamantium due to an error in the process. We hear a monstrous roar and then we see him change into his feral state.

  3. We get Feral Wolverine right off the bat at the start of the season without a failed re-bonding of Adamantium. The trauma that Magneto put him through was enough to turn him feral. At the end of the trailer, we see Logan, along with Sabretooth, Deathstrike, and Morph. When we actually see the episode, Wolverine will be in his "feral" uniform and the Adamantium bonding is just about to begin... But then Apocalypse appears with Gambit as Death. He orders Gambit to kill Morph and Deathstrike and then has Sabretooth reveal himself as being on his side. He then has Sabretooth show off his own Adamantium claws. Wolverine and Sabretooth then battle. Wolverine defeats Sabretooth. Apocalypse strips the Adamantium from Sabretooth, bonds it to Wolverine's skeleton, and then we have Wolverine as "War". He then does his classic pose.

Also, in the trailer, we see Wolverine in his classic costume in the big group shot where Cyclops, Jean, and Beast are in their X-Corp uniforms. I'm thinking that's a Red Herring and when that particular episode comes out, they will change it to his "feral" uniform and it will be before the Deathstrike/Sabretooth scene.

Similarities to other BB Songs

I saw a few people mention that there is a "weird" tempo change in the chorus of "Something Wicked". I listened to the whole song, and then listened to "Torn in Two". Seems like they both have the same tempo change in the chorus. I find that interesting.

There is an obvious similarity to Water". I also think the chorus is very similar to "Simple Design".

Are there any more similarities to point out? What do you think?

Pietta Californian - Wood, Checkered Wood, Or Ivory Grips?

I'm going to get the Pietta Californian in 9mm, no questions asked. But now I am wondering if when I get a Californian in .357 Magnum, should I get another standard one, or upgrade to a DLX in checkered wood or ivory grips? Which would you choose, and why?

u/Gambit8907 — 3 months ago

In your opinion, which of these two 1873 revolvers would be a great purchase in .357 Magnum? I like the look of the Gunfighter, but I have a hang-up on the Uberti retractable firing pins. Also, would you prefer a checkered wood Army grip, or a smooth one?

u/Gambit8907 — 4 months ago

What is your preferred grip type? And which grip would you prefer on an 1873 single action in any caliber?
