So I finally started reading The Book of Bill, flipping through the lore when I flipped to the Theraprism patient files. I spotted Paingorious one of the interdimensional criminal undergoing rehab to become a butterfly and my brain immediately short circuited. Tell me why this man looks exactly like The Boiled One from Doctor Nowhere’s analog horror verse. Or am I delusional???
I swear every tier list I see nowadays has him getting destroyed by basically every YC, and I honestly don't understand where this came from.
Like... did everyone just collectively forget what happened in Dressrosa?
People always say "Gear 4 folded him."
Yeah... eventually. But before that happened Doffy had already taken Gamma Knife (which literally wrecked his organs), stitched himself back together with strings, fought Law, fought Luffy, kept Birdcage active over the entire island and was still throwing out Awakening attacks like nothing happened.
That's actually kinda ridiculous when you think about it.
I feel like people only remember the last chapter of the fight instead of everything leading up to it.
Another thing that never gets talked about enough is just how annoying Doffy's fighting style actually is.
He doesn't HAVE to stand there trading punches.
If I'm Doffy and I'm fighting someone like Jack... why would I ever land?
Seriously.
I'd just stay in the air and keep spamming awakened strings until they either make a mistake or eventually get overwhelmed.
People treat every fight like two characters are forced to box each other face to face, but that's never been Doffy's style.
He's one of the biggest "fight on my terms" characters in the series.
jozu
I actually think Doffy beats him.
The biggest reason is Parasite.
Marineford already showed it working on Jozu, so I don't really understand why people act like it's impossible.
Sure, maybe Jozu eventually breaks free.
Maybe he doesn't.
Either way Doffy has already forced him into a bad position.
Jozu's biggest strength is his physicality, but that's way less useful when your opponent is flying around and attacking from every direction.
Jack
Honestly... I think this matchup is even worse.
Jack is insanely durable.
Nobody argues that.
But durability doesn't magically solve every matchup.
How is Jack actually hitting Doffy?
He doesn't fly.
He doesn't have long-range attacks that we've seen.
Meanwhile Doffy is above him turning half the battlefield into strings.
Eventually all that damage is gonna add up.
Cracker
This one's probably my hottest take.
I still lean Doffy.
Everyone immediately brings up the biscuit soldiers.
Fair enough.
They're strong.
But people talk about the fight like Doffy is obligated to run head-first into an army of biscuits.
Why would he do that?
He has some of the best mobility in the series.
He can attack from range.
He can reshape the battlefield.
He can force Cracker to keep producing soldiers while staying relatively safe himself.
And once Cracker's real body gets exposed... we already know he doesn't have the same durability as his soldiers.
I think it'd be an absolute nightmare of a fight, but I don't think it's as one-sided as people make it out to be.
I think people underrate Doffy cuz he lost to someone that went on to become a Yonko.
Like... losing to Luffy isn't exactly an anti-feat anymore.
Dressrosa Luffy was already ridiculously strong, and Doffy still pushed him hard despite basically fighting with internal injuries for half the arc.
I'm not saying Doffy's Admiral level or anything crazy like that.
I still think characters like King, Katakuri, Marco and current Law beat him.
I just don't buy this idea that every commander automatically stomps him cuz of "power creep."
His fruit is still one of the most versatile in the entire manga, his Awakening is insane, he has all three types of Haki, and his matchup spread is honestly way better than people give him credit for.
Idk, maybe I'm overrating him, but I feel like the community's opinion on Doffy has swung way too far in the opposite direction.

Somehow this is an extremely close match up, but one of them would be the definitive winner. Dennis scales off of the entire Gravity Falls universe as it is just a trading card for him while A Voice Behind Me scales off of the entire SCP universe as he is able to write them out of existence (from what I have heard at least)

Honestly I think it was Doffy, the way Luffy screamed “DOFLAMINGO” after punching Bellamy was bone chilling. Not to mention before Luffy activated gear 4 he got so pissed at Doffy that he said this: “You try to trap everything within your own hands and manipulate everybody!! It makes me feel like I’m suffocating!!"
