Were anyone else’s parents firm believers of hierarchy and always believe/side with authority over you?
Growing up I found that no matter what, my parents and my mother especially would always side with the teachers. No matter what, no matter the situation, no matter what I was feeling and experiencing nor what was best for me. It was always just “teacher outranks you so they get all the respect”
It was to the point where to this day being criticized by authority in any form triggers a fight or flight response in me and I am desperate for my parents not to know
And even now as an adult. At my last job which was a retail job with absolutely awful management, it took until them not paying and dragging their ass to fix the problem for my mother to start to see how they were
She just has no empathy at all. She victim blames all the time. A woman’s private videos get leaked and she is like “she never should have made them in the first place”
That 3 year old kid who was killed in the beginning of a quiet place, she was cheering for cause “little idiot shouldn’t have made noise”
Whenever I was bullied growing up, the constant response was always what I “should have done” to not make them target me. My father is guilty of that one too
