Accepting a pay cut for job stability? Deadline June 3rd!

Trying to keep this short here’s the deal -

I currently work for company X, a very large corporate company, however I am a very low position, basically an assistant. But the pay is very good, more than I thought I’d make as a mid 20s person in the admin side of things, I also only have to work 7.5 hour days and since the company is so large, there isn’t constantly people watching over my shoulder. HOWEVER, I am technically contracted to company X through a recruiting company, my contracts ends in October and I have no idea if I’ll be offered a full time position with company X or what salary/vacation would be offered. I’ve seen one internal posting for the same level role I am in, and on the top end of the salary range it would be a 20k pay cut! However I would get access to the company benefits which are quite good. No WFH

Here’s the job offer:
Large company, not as big as the above, but small office environment, be working in an office with only 4-5 other people, close quarters. A slightly further commute (which is already an hour each way), full 8hr work day meaning I’ll be driving home in more rush hour time. Benefits are fairly comparable, same vacation I’m currently getting from the recruiting company, BUT a 13k pay cut. Potentially one WFH day, and they did mention sometimes days fluctuate, some shorter days some longer days depending on needs (construction industry).

The 13k pay cut puts me at 5k below the top of the listed salary range. I have about 2 years of relevant experience. In the interview they asked about salary and I said “I would need to be at the top end for it to make sense”. I really want them to come up the extra 5k at least, it might be unrealistic to hope for something outside the range, how do I phrase this? Do I say I’m currently making $xxxxx is there a way we can get closer to that”? Or do I just accept it for the job stability??

I need to reply with either a counter or acceptance/rejection by June 3rd

Harnessing the power of the Ball

Hi all, my 10 month old has recently decided that his Chuck It ball is THE BEST thing to ever exist. He gives me so much enthusiasm and effort when we have the ball out, however I have noticed that he likes the ball so much he will sometimes ignore me if he is playing with it. I am wondering my if I should encourage this and “harness” this energy using the ball as a reward or if I should attempt to neutralize the ball (not entirely sure how-just having it out 24/7??). I love that he loves the ball but I don’t want him blowing me off when he has it

Open to thoughts and suggestions! Golden retriever/aussie shepherd mix

Hi all looking for first hand opinions of the 2020-2022 RAV4 trail editions (used but new to me)what you like, what you hate, what is mildly annoying? I’m looking to upgrade from my 2011 Tacoma since I don’t really have the use for the truck bed, but still want decent off-road functionality. I primarily would be sticking to main loggin roads but would occasionally take the path less travelled. I don’t have any towing use at the moment but potentially would tow a small utility trailer with a quad. That being said I also have a hour long (each way) commute in bumper to bumper traffic five days a week and from what I have seen the trail is the least fuel efficient option of the gas models.
I am potentially considering a limited trim in similar year ranges however the large sunroof poses potential concern for a rooftop tent if I were to job that route in the future.

Keep in mind I haven’t driven either, they are available near me but not close enough to pop in for a quick drive, more like 3-6 hours away, but my past vehicles have all been older lifted trucks so minor differences in handling between limited and trail will likely be an improvement either way for me!

Top priorities/desires are:
Decent fuel economy (my Tacoma only gets 17.9L/100km or 13mpg so I don’t foresee an issue beating that)
Sunroof
Leather seats
Heated seats and steering wheel
Ideally illuminated interior switches
Decent sound system although I’m willing to upgrade aftermarket

My top contenders at the moment are:
2022 Trail - magnetic grey - 66xxxkm - $39xxx CAD pre tax UPDATE: actually the TRD off-road trim

2021 Trail -lunar rock with ice white - 25xxxkm -$43xxx CAD pre tax

2020 Trail - red - 61xxxkm - $37xxxx CAD pre tax

Of the three, would you choose one specifically and why? Google isn’t entirely helpful on the exact differences between them. Colour wise I’d go grey, but the price/mileage on the 2021 seems to be a good deal to me

Thanks all!!

Okay this may be laughable but I honestly don’t know and it is a factor I will be considering while I ponder a move from Vancouver Island to southern Alberta. I have lived on the island my whole life and frankly am a bit bored by now, that being said one thing I do love is the ability to easily access lakes or rivers with hiking trails/loops where I can take my dog and go for a dip afterwards. I currently live only 20min from one of my favourite spots which I was able to start swimming in this week. Am I crazy to hope these kinds of areas exist in the southern Alberta region (I’m thinking Red Deer and below)? Ideally I’d like to be able to paddle board as well since I also take my dog to do that.

I get the season for doing this would be much shorter, just looking for first hand opinions as google isn’t much help
