My first apisto!

My very first Apisto, beautiful Cacatuoides. Giving that Guy Fieri energy. He has been placed in a 65 liter habitat that will be a species only tank - will be bringing in a female next week. Currently it’s housing a mystery fry nursery on behalf of it appearing from an egg on one of the anubias.

He is eating well, and has made the tank his.

Just wanted to say I had no idea these fish were THIS attentive, can’t wait to keep him in good spirits.

Lava waterfall first try

Had a go at making a waterfall in a ten liter vase. Locally foraged lava rock. Peace lily, asparagus stems and moss. How does it look?

Lava waterfall in vase

First attempt at waterfall scape. Using only locally foraged lava rock. On hand peace lily and spiky moss.

What do you think? I feel one more rock would make it too crowded ⚡️

Extruding jungle

My Spider plant and Velvet anthurium look amazing together. What are your favorite “jungle-esque” riparium plants? 🌱

Honey Gourami help!

Help: My guy has been lethargic since yesterday. Parameters are good. But he has lost bouancy, seems very bloated, and I feel he has lost colour. Spotted him sideways just now with heavy breathing. What Can I do!

Am I cooked?

MTS pushed me into taking this 60x30x30 tank for petty change. Scaped it and its coming along. There are chiseled points in 4/2 upper corners. No direct water pressure, and no absolutely no visible cracks steming from the points. Its been running for 2 weeks. But can’t get peace of mind over it. Is it safe to assume a “cosmetic edge chipping” - or is this an upcoming structural failure?

First riparium / ugly stage

Two weeks in. Coming along nicely. Waiting on new HOB to make the beach in front of jungle. Any comments?

Fell from tank

My big boy ventured from his tank and found him on floor approx 1m from tank edge. Not a high drop but his shell fractured. What can I do? He has been active in the water since regaining his senses, but im very worried.

The aquarium journey - Community reccomendations

Since starting the hobby in February, on a random whim that lead me down a rabbit hole of fascination and put me into a position of having the learn things FAST, I find myself in ever growing awe and wonder of the things experienced so far. I view time and patience in a new light, and have found a childish charm through the will to learn new things.

Currently keeping a 20L planted betta tank, as one does. A Fluval Flex 56L planted community tank that houses 1x Red Honey Gourami, 10x Dwarf Emerald Rasboras and 6x Adolfoi Corydoras. Setting up my first riparium, 65L - heavily planted and doing a quick cycle with passed on gunk while waiting on my new HOB.

In the next weeks I’ll be introducing livestock, and looking for reccomendations! I’m thinking a pair of Apistogramma, along a school of Green Neon Tetras.

Thanks in advance, happy to be here.
