Question regarding your experiences with Japanese guests and autographs

Hi all! Recently got back from Otakuthon and had an amazing time. One of the perks was the amount of Japanese guests and the opportunity to meet and get autographs from them. 

I did encounter one curious thing when getting an autograph. On the final day I got a token and was waiting in line for Kenta Miyake. Lots of fans in the line had things for him to sign, mostly MHA related things, I had a Plarail Gordon toy. While we waited a staff member approached the line and let us know that Kenta may not sign merchandise, and it depends on the day. Later around a good 20 minutes she returned to say he would NOT be signing any merchandise. The collective groan from the line after hearing this was hard to ignore, I was certainly disappointed myself.

Meeting him and still getting his autograph despite not being on the iten was amazing and I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to do so. He was so kind and friendly. But I couldn’t help but wonder why this is? Is it a personal preference thing of the guest or is it a decision of management? When I did go up and showed him the the item that I originally wanted to have signed he was very excited about it, I asked his translator if he’d consider in that case but he straight up told me no but didn’t actually ask him. Anyways still very thankful I was able to do this but figured I’d ask about other experiences

Don’t buy into the hype.

It’s been incredibly disappointing seeing the way the market for original Lego Batman parts have exploded in price.

Though what has been abundantly clear is that what’s driving up the price are ‘investors’ who are buying into Lego Batman just because it’s now the ‘cool’ thing.

As you can see from the screenshots attached that’s just one example of someone buying a ton of stock to attempt to create scarcity.

Please don’t give into the hype and support this type of stuff. I know the original line holds a lot of emotional value for people, especially myself after growing up with the original game and sets, but fuelling scalpers justifies the behaviour and makes it worse for everyone.

Issues programming your player to a universal remote?

Hi all. Recently picked up a Toshiba BDX4200 for my bedroom CRT for watching DVDs or Blu. unfortunately the player had no remote and I’ve spent the past few days trying to program multiple universal remotes to get it working.

Is this a comon issue with secondhand players? Or a Toshiba thing? Any help would be appreciated

How I printed my replacement tent for 624 Jungle Duel and how YOU can too!

Firstly I want to thank all the people who assisted with photos and measurements, specifically thewayaround, alaztheaviator, and Kafei_Aizawa.

My starting point was the scan provided by Kafei_Aizawa which I resized to 2297x2421, I specifically chose this resolution as when imported to my printing program I could print it at at 25% (2297x2421 is 4 times what it should be resolution wise, by downscaling it to 574x605 it would be 1:1 and you should be safe printing it at 100%. I simply did it at 4x to preserve details in the scan.) First image attached is the resized scan. Raw scan is here.

I did a print on white paper and one on yellow, I used the yellow but it didn't make a huge difference in the end personally. Holes were punched with a holepunch!

Hopefully this makes sense, I will admit writing it down makes me realize how over-engineered this is.

Piecing my set together and realized I’m missing the most important part, so I’m looking to reproduce one! Could someone who owns this please provide measurements of the tent as well as scans If possible? Thanks

I’ve been reading Shugo Chara recently and have noticed a lot of connections to Bang Dream

So as the title says I’ve been reading through the Shugo Chara manga (which has been great) but as I’ve been going through it for the first time I’ve noticed some connections to Bang Dream, most notably is Kusukusu, the Gaurdian of Rima, who in the manga bears a striking resemblance to Kokoro! Ironically they changed her hair design in the anime adaption but here it almost feels like a chibi Kokoro, especially in the characters actions.

additionally there’s a side character called Saaya Yamabuki, speaks for itself.

I’m sure these are just coincidences, but I wonder if some of the character designers were fans and put then in as Easter eggs?
