PWA vs Native App

Has anyone here had immense success with a PWA? I'm considering it over a native app & would appreciate people's input. Thanks

Define Classic

Something bugs me folks. People say Michael Jackson makes classic music. I don't deny that...Why? Bcoz 10, 15, 20+ years later, his music has insane replay value. Some of these same folks will hop online & scream that Drake has NO classics. Drake makes fast-food music. Mind u tho, his music that are 10-15yrs old are getting mad replay so I don't comprehend their logic. Perhaps someone who's a real music connoisseur can explain what is deemed classic 🤔

CKD + Diabetes at the same time: whose diet advice do you actually follow when it conflicts?

Nephrologist says limit protein. Endocrinologist says prioritize it for blood sugar control. Dietitian gives you a handout that addresses one condition but not both.

This is one of the most common and least talked about problems in managing both conditions simultaneously. The standard advice for each one directly contradicts the other, and most appointments aren't long enough to resolve it.

Anyone here navigating both? What's your experience been when the guidance conflicts?

How does Lisinopril affect my potassium levels with CKD?--> Let's Get to It

Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor. It works by blocking angiotensin-converting enzyme, which has the side effect of reducing potassium excretion by the kidneys. In other words, your kidneys were already struggling to clear potassium due to CKD, & Lisinopril compounds that problem by reducing clearance further.

Foods that would be borderline acceptable for CKD alone become more concerning when Lisinopril is on board. This includes potassium-rich foods like bananas, sweet potatoes, spinach, oranges, tomatoes, and sports drinks.

From a dietary standpoint, avoid stacking multiple high-potassium foods in the same meal. A meal with salmon plus spinach plus sweet potato plus orange juice can deliver over 2,500mg of potassium in one sitting which is dangerous.

Meal Planner but "Niche'd"

Another meal planner?? I know BUT please read thru before dismissing me just based off the title. I appreciate every input in advance 🙏🏿.

I built a meal planner. Right now is web based. Here's how this is different. For starters it's called Platelytix.

It's a meal planner and food scoring web based app for people managing chronic health conditions i.e. CKD, Type II diabetes, hypertension, & others. It takes a user's full profile : condition or comorbid conditions, medications, actual lab values (serum potassium, eGFR, phosphorus, A1C), dietary preferences, cuisine preferences, and personal goals (weight loss, muscle building, blood sugar management) & uses all of it to generate meal plans and score foods that are actually relevant to your situation.

Here's a concrete example of what that looks like:

A smoothie bowl - banana, spinach, almonds, chia seeds, granola - is on every "clean eating" list on the internet. For a healthy person it scores fine. For someone with CKD Stage 3a, serum potassium of 5.4 mEq/L, and Lisinopril 10mg - Platelytix scores it 18/100 AVOID. Combined potassium load of 1,080mg. Lisinopril further reduces the kidney's ability to clear potassium. The app catches this before the first bite.

But it's not just about what to avoid. It generates weekly meal plans filtered by your conditions, labs, medications, cuisine preferences (Mediterranean, Asian, Latin, etc.), dietary preferences (plant-based, low-FODMAP, gluten-free), and personal goals. The plan reflects your actual situation, not a textbook average.

What I built:

Meal scoring engine (0-100) with clinical reasoning shown for every flag

Drug-food interaction detection across 15+ medication classes

Weekly meal plan generator filtered by conditions, labs, cuisine, dietary, and personal goals

150+ recipe database pre-scored for multiple conditions simultaneously

Free tier with a Quick Summary / Premium with full breakdown and personalized meal plans including meal substitutions. Current MVP on Django.

A bit about my background. I have a BS in Chem. Studied biochemistry. Pharmacy school for 3 yrs. Didn't graduate & not licensed. Very much into fitness ....& currently working in a clinic in a different capacity. Every output from the meal planner is guideline based (KDIGO, AHA, ADA, etc)

What I'm still figuring out:

Closing the gap between TikTok viewer and actual signup - health content is performing but conversion is the challenge

B2C vs B2B2C - go direct to patients or through renal dietitians and nephrology clinics as referral partners

Reaching people who need this but don't know it exists yet.

FYI, I've been using this platform for sometime now. I utilize the health subreddit a lot but the moderators abhor any suggestion pertaining to my tool. There are actual folks that inquire about these things but any suggestion gets u banned. I already got canned from one subreddit when I responded to a someone with this kind of query & subtly mentioned my project. I do enjoy providing answers to medications & health queries so I try to walk a thin line in those platform so as to prevent any issue with mods. For those who have navigated this path, how did u eventually succeed? Thanks (platelytix.com)

Perseverance

Just wanna put this good vibes out. I'm legit happy for Drake. Ngl, 2 years ago the entire media platforms had me believe that Drake really was done. I've enjoyed this guy's music since 2010 & watching folks slander & tear him apart really sucked.

Seeing the boy persevere thru this & give us 3 amazing albums & breaking all these records has taught me to stay relentless

Be cautious!!!

Educational.....So I came across this post & one of the replies had me pause a bit. Indeed Ace inhibitors are known to cause angioedema. My grandmother experience this when I was young...long before I even knew what Ace inhibitors are BUT remember not everyone on Ace inhibitors gets angioedema. I think blanket statements like "Don't take it bcoz of this or that" is worrisome. Ace inhibitors are kidney protective & that's y ur nephro prescribes it. Always remember, not one size fits all (hope that's how that saying goes)
