Disaster or save?

Put ingredients into machine, started it, got all the way to start of the second rise when it dawned on me there was no yeast in it. Pulled it out, added yeast (a bit extra). Kneaded it by hand for a couple minutes, plopped it back in the machine, at the beginning of the process. It will sit for 20 mins, knead, rise, knocdown, rise again, and bake. Will it turn out? I shall have to wait and see…

It is my standard whole wheat/barley recipe, 2 lbs.

Edit: it worked fine! Maybe more rise than usual, actually.

In remission, kidney problems

My boy has been in remission for months. But today we learned his kidney numbers are creeping up, and he is borderline stage 2. He’s 15, so not unexpected. We have been feeding fancy feast with purina urinary tract health kibble due to his sister’s problems. What do you suggest we switch to feeding? He’s very fussy. We have 2 other healthy cats.

Worst scissors ever

I was given this set of never used scissors from a stash recently - they are “recollections” branded. They are the worst scissors I have ever tried to use. None of them cut more than bout 2/3 of the blade, and the tiny onesare the worst. Should I chunk them out or is there anything I can do to salvage them? I hate throwing usable things away, but these, in their current condition, are NOt usable.

phrases from a mad construct in charge of a dungeon

In the megadungeon of my current campaign, several levels/areas were once controlled by construct "brains" (ie AI computers of a magical sort). One of these things still exists as the adventurers explore, but it is effectively insane, somewhat paranoid, and struggles to communicate telepathically. It mutters a set of phrases over and over, with some being random useless things, and others having significance to the dungeon and its condition in some way. What are some good phrases I can have it utter that will disturb and intrigue my party?

Dungeon level themes include "crystal magic", laboratories, and elevator access to other levels of teh dungeon; the brain fears another brain on a deeper level which is far more vicious and threatens it on occasion.

Salmon in a skillet - skin up or skin down

I'm reading recipes and half of them say to pan fry salmon with the skin UP to start with, and then flip at the end for a short time. The other half say to start with the skin side DOWN in the oil to crisp it up, and flip over briefly to finish the flesh side.

What's your preference, and why? As a secondary question, do you season with anything other than salt while cooking? Or do you season afterwards?

A group of wizard cultists in a megadungeon were worshippers of an aberrant god of oozes, labyrinths and madness. Eventually they all died (I suspect a suicide pact in the face of collapse of their cult). However, due to their leader's fanaticism, some became undead, focused on slaying all who arrive in the area who do not meet the criteria of their foretold "new leader". What criteria would identify this new leader? the old worshippers were humans/demihumans of the ordinary sorts. Be as weird as you like!
