Iron sights question. Rock Island 1911

I got this 1911 new a few months ago and notice the front sight post was off. I read a little online and thought that’s just how they come sometimes to match the barrel. Is this a manufacturing defect? If so, should I contact RI?

Also see the white paint in the front sight post flew out while firing one time, but that isn’t really my concern.

Upshift/Downshift paddle issue

My 19 SP recently started shifting down instead of up when pressing the upshift paddle. Center gear selector works fine but both paddles shift down instead of up now.

Anyone know a fix for this?
