Need help with picking a needle

I'm still a beginner and I have some understanding with needles. The thing is I'm buying a schmetz universal needle ( assorted in size) and I don't know what other type of needle I should buy. I'm so caught between jersey ballpoint needle and stretch because I was originally gonna buy the jersey ballpoint needle for knits but some people have said that they found the stretch needle much better. I wanted to buy it cause I wanna make plushies and I'll probably use mink or polar fleece fabric. But mostly on alterations on t shirts and other clothes.

You can use universal but I heard that it makes more worn out and it's better to use a different needle. I also want to ask whether I should buy a microtex needle or a top stitch needle. I'm probably gonna have to do some top stitching since I might be altering some denim jeans. I already have some jeans needles ( size 90 & 100). Also it's in NZD.

IF YOU LIVE IN NZ OR AUS COULD I PLEASE KNOW WHAT SEWING OIL YOU USE AND WHERE YOU BUY IT FROM. I was just gonna buy the 1 liter sewing from direct sewing ( in last pic) but I wanted to buy the singer oil 100 ml for $ 7.90. The 1 liter one is $18 so it's probably better if I buy it.

Need help ( my thread won't go into the fabric and it just punctures the fabric)

I'm using a 201k singer machine which was gifted to me recently. The problem is definitely user error and it could be the tension, the stitchs per inch, and so many things. I'm still a beginner and I have zero experience with doing the tension and all the adjustments ( cause our teacher usually does it for us).

Fabric : Denim with two layer of hard interfacing ( it isn't thick or rigid, it's quite flexible and I can bend it a lot)

Needle : 90/14, I'm pretty sure it's a needle that can handle denim because before it was gifted to me they tried it out with some leather ( it wasn't really thick leather, I'd say it was probably thin leather) and it worked fine which I would expect cause the 201k is amazing.

I'm not sure if you can clearly see it in the video but it doesn't sew and just punctures the fabric. I basically showed how I threaded the machine cause I may have missed a step or did something wrong. When I put the needle back in ( after I was checking the size) I put the flat side to the left and threaded the thread from right to left. I'm using the 66 class bobbins ( it was already in the machine).

One of the problems could be that I used a crossed wound thread ( sorry if that's the wrong way to say it) instead a stacked thread. I did have a circle of felt under the spool which google said would help. Please help, I have no idea how to fix this.

Update: I think the problem is the thread because when I tried to pull it ( to test the strength) it broke very easily. It might be really old so I'll go to the store and buy some gutermann thread.

What do you use to clean your vintage sewing machine ( exterior )?

I got a singer 99k sewing machine for free. I searched on Google and it said to use sewing oil but then I found a YouTube saying not to and use car wax, specifically one with carnauba. When I tried to find ones in my area, it was like 40 dollars and one of comments gave recs so I searched and it was 70 something dollars. So I wanted to ask what other people use for the exterior of the sewing machine. YouTube link: https://youtu.be/MDcqXGqYy04?si=T72L5Ts2TEfo4dEW

Picture and videes of the machine (vintage 1954 Singer 306K sewing machine ) I got

I went today and the machine definitely needs to be serviced. From the seller, they said that it wasn't really maintained. For content: The machine is being sold on behalf of an organization and ig it wasn't maintained and it's pretty old. The seller was super nice and gave me a couple days to think it over. I'm also asking someone who cleans these machines how much it would cost and if isn't too much like 50 or something then I'll buy the machine. But the upper thread gets stuck in the bobbin. The needle could be the problem or something else idk but the bobbin case seems be the alternative bobbin case I asked about in my last post. But I'm not too sure. Should I buy it or leave it ? I really wanna make it work cause so many people have given me their advice, helped with so many things like what thread to buy or what needle to use and I've researched quite a lot for its needs. It only lets me pick one video. I'll put the pictures in the comments.

When I tried to sew with it, it made a sound idk how to describe it but I've heard it in my textiles room and my teachers says it's the bobbin but idk how to fix it. I couldn't get a vid of the sound cause the thread got stuck and I didn't wanna push machine any further.

This is pictures for the "Is vintage 1954 Singer 306K sewing machine a good machine?"

I did a bit of research and found that it requires specific needles (206 × 13 ) so I wanted to switch the bobbin case because it's the reason why you use a different needle instead of your standard needle 15×1.I wanted to ask if the one I found on Amazon is alright because I'm pretty new to sewing. I'm also doing this because the needles for this machine is a lot more expensive like than if I were just buy a alternative bobbin case allowing me to use 15 × 1. These are the only photos posted and I'm probably gonna ask for a picture of the belt in the sewing machine because if it's broken then I'll have to wait for different machine to show up on Facebook marketplace. I started sewing this year and I haven't managed to break any needles but I probably will so I want some that I can easily find in my area. Since it requires a specific needle, it would be hard for me find needles for heavyweight fabrics or thin fabrics. That's really all the reasons why I'm considering just buying a alternative bobbin case .

Edit : I searched more about needle needed for the machine and it's only $12.14 for a 10 pack so it isn't that expensive ( MB) since a 15×1 would cost like $6 for a 5 pack. It's just the shipping cost I'm worried about but I'll just buy a lot so I don't have to keep buying it. The reason why I said it was expensive was because I saw a listing for the needles ( 206×13) for like $40 and I thought it would cost me a lot so I decided to find another way which was the alternative bobbin case. Anyways, I apologize because I was wrong and I just needed to find it in other sites. Thank you for the people who corrected me about it.

Thank you for all the advice and info on the machine. It really helped me learn more about the machine and what it needs. I've decided to order the specific needles (206×13) in both sizes ( size 12 & 14) and I'll probably order an alternative bobbin incase I want to use a different needle but I'll consult an expert beforehand cause I don't wanna waste my money. Again, thank you for all the help, I really appreciate it.

And if anybody does have an alternative bobbin case, did you do it yourself or have someone else do it like an expert ? I'm also asking for thread recommendations that are available in NZ cause guterman and birch is really only thing I can find in spotlight and I don't know where else to buy it from.

What tools do I use to clean the machine? I just realized I forgot to ask. I know you have to dust everything first then oil it ( if it needs it) but that's it. I'm pretty sure you aren't suppose to water or acetone. What about build up oil, how do you clean that?

Is vintage 1954 Singer 306K sewing machine a good machine?

I'm a beginner in sewing so I don't know much. I also wanted to ask if the alternative bobbin case I found in Amazon the right one ( the last photo) and if I can use a standard needle 15× 1. I wanted to buy the alternative bobbin case cause I live in nz and if bought the 206× 13 needle, I would probably break iitso I would prefer if I can just use the standard needle that way I can easily buy it and I don't have to wait days or weeks for another pack of needles to arrive. If you have this machine, could I have some tips and anything I need to know. Could also see some pictures about what it looks like ( serviced and well maintained). It hasn't been serviced yet so I'm worried, I wondering if should just clean it at home or find a professional.

I don't know why it won't let me turn it on. I got it second hand and I've been wondering why it won't let me change it. I tried researching it but I didn't find anything useful. If you have any tips on what to do, I would really appreciate it.
