Messed up MD vs DMD

I *****d up and went to medical school vs dental school. I don’t care about medicine, enough to deal with the insane hours/standards/high stakes exams/evaluations etc. I get it, hell id want the same out of my Dr, but I just wanted a stable gig to earn income and have a decent life. Not at the nonsensical theatrics that come with medicine - academics, prestige, research, mental masturbation.

is there anyway I can make a pivot or am I royally fucked until I get weeded out and take on a pharma job? I’m 31 and third yr MD failed step 1/passed on second attempt, hated every single rotation ive been on. Maybe psych just because the hours aren’t dogshit

Growth/Layoffs vs other tech paths

How does this path compare/contrast to growth/layoffs in other technical paths. Eg SWE, Cybersecurity, Data Science etc. I know these are all broad categories but generally speaking curious to understand

SE [MCOL/LCOL] careers that achieve HENRY

Hi all HENRY tech professional in NE HCOL. In the subreddit I’m curious who is HENRY and based in SE MCOL/LCOL. Several friends in healthcare are here but besides that most traditional high income paths are in NY/Cal etc. Wondering what careers can achieve HENRY in SE aside from healthcare. Thanks!

Approach to break in non technical

Hi all seeking advice on best approach into SE as a non technical career changer. I have requisite consulting and client facing experience in healthcare consulting (top firm), startup Bizops, and early stage VC (all healthcare). To bridge the technical gap in this market, am considering pursuing a 1 year MBA to recruit into a tech consulting firm (eg ACN/EY/Deloitte). Gain tech chops and try to recruit thereafter is this viable or am I overthinking? Have several friends from college in the role at places like databricks, astronomer, salesforce that are willing to help but have all stated internally companies have a hard stop currently for technical backgrounds (undergrad or grad CS).

seeking to pursue this role to locate closer to family (southeast based, most healthcare careers with good income potential are northeast based). I’ve read the pinned posts but nuanced insight would be tremendously helpful. thank you!

Advice

I’m an MD MSL (no residency), looking at ways to boost income while I’m young <35; I discovered CAA (28 month MS in anesthesia..unlocks a 260k floor compensation and can climb to 400k via OT - requires working like a dog to achieve).

worth it to pursue? I’m already capped at comp/career progression. I could try to shift to HQ but prefer my life in the southeast. The AA thing gets me back clinical and lets me earn more $, would assume I can return to MSL once I get tired of working clinically. Thanks

MD -> Patent Agent

Hi I’m a recent US MD graduate that is not pursuing residency. I’m interested in patent law and wondering what my chances are specifically for Southeast based opportunities. I’m still understanding the path here and appreciate any advice or feedback. Thanks!

In demand/future proof domains

Hi all - I’m a CS student looking into SE as a career path. I’m wondering what domains are worth the investment to learn/specialize in for long term job stability/demand.

AI/ML

Cybersecurity

”Enterprise” which is a bit vague in nature and going through its own disruption

id appreciate any and all advice from veterans in this sub. Thanks!
