agent O: I was at the eye doctor because i was having some vision problems, specifically. some floaters that recently developed. We discussed my prior background with the Octarians and they said it would explain my vision problems. I think they said it’s because of some of the goggles. how they are basically screens strapped to the head.

im getting a corrective surgery done next week. wish me luck!

agent O: so…a bit of a confession, I suppose….but occasionally I imagine being a girl….

Tonight the Octarian 10 case wrapped itself up.

The remaining Octolings found me at my summertime hotel. Of course, the vigilant agent I am, I raised my Octo Shot and...at my command, they dropped theirs, kicked htem all over to me. I placed them all under arrest and ordered them to remain where they stood while I contacted local law enforcement. It was a good 7 minutes before the police showed up, during which those Octolings never moved a muscle.

I wasn't about to end my break just to haul them in, so I had the cops take them to the city jail, where they will wait for the NSS to transfer them back to Alterna.

Curious at this surprising development, I asked one of them why they surrendered, and why they felt it necessary to hunt me down and surrender to me instead of, say, going to the police station.

In short, with their commander and most of the members in custody, they felt the unit had no hope going forward. They knew I was lead detective on the case and wanted me to personally witness the arrest, just so I would know they weren't at large.

I asked if anyone who was not with the NSS or law enforcement told them to surrender, and the member denied this.

O: I was at the hotel bar drinking when I saw just so many Octolings who were either sanitized or wearing Octarian soldier uniforms.

i felt bad for them, so I paid for everyone’s drinks and they all erupted in cheers At my announcement. I even befriended some of those ex-soldiers.

agent O: when I was an Elite working at that weapons laboratory, they were designing a robot that was supposed to be a weapon of mass destruction.

it was an android that basically functioned just like an Elite Octarian, except with twice the firing power of an Octo Shot.

the idea was to mass produce these.

The first test, I believe was a failure.

I don’t know if they ever made a successful robot, or if they abandoned the project.

so now I sit here, single, with only my work and workmates to keep me company.

Hiro: I quit my government job. you won’t believe the amount of spin doctoring I had to do. eventually it just wore down on me.

so I upskilled, became credentialed in science communication.

applied to a bunch of science communication jobs, both government and private sector. Was either rejected or am still waiting.

CW: seizures

this evening at the beach, I saw a sanitized Octoling start having seizures. I immediately rushed to their aid but they quickly recovered and I was informed they do this every day and this emergency medical services were not required. during. the seizure, they said a few words, most unintelligible, but I recognized a few:

made me wonder if the seizures were in some way connected to the Octoling’s sanitization.

i am also curious if this is something I may have to watch for in my own Octoling unit.

agent O: i was just eating my lunch when some kid started screaming “OH MY COD ITS AGENT O!”

after publicly denying it, I leaned over to them and said ”yeah - but please don’t announce that to the cod damn restaunt.“

Captain:

AFter securing a 2B G's loan from the Bank of Inkopolis, the NSS purchased the latest iteration of DJ Octavio's mech suit.

Originally designed for use by Octavio himself, the suit is powered by rockets powerful enough to reach space, and carries heat-seeking missiles powerful enough to defeat any enemy.

The suit and its design will be retrofitted for NSS use pending completion of the B.R.A.T project(s).

Agent O: in case you're wondering how my vacation's going so far...

I just bought the most delicious sandwich from a nearby sandwich shop. I was almost getting my first bite in, when this seagull swooped down and grabbed it.

I was having none of that.

I fought and managed to get the seagull off.

Ate the whole cod damn sandwich, proud of what I'd done.

Captain of the NSS: With Agent O on leave, I've taken over the NSS public relations on this platform.

Anyhow, the top brass at the Military's High Command have taken an interest in the HRL's work at Alterna - particularly its implications for weapons development.

Therefore - and because Alterna "belongs" to the NSS - a member of the NSS's weapons engineering team has been assigned to work alongside the HRL for the duration of their study in Alterna.

To prevent any "bad blood" between the two agencies, our chief weapons engineer Sheldon will not be in this position, nor will he be in the engineer's chain of command; the engineer will answer to me directly.

Agent O: Keeping the details light in case the enemies are watching.

Anywho...

I'm currently relaxing at my beachsidee resort. Got a sweet discount for being a member of the NSS. Even had a few drinks with an ex-buddy of mine who used to serve with me in the Octarian Army. Turns out he's single and actively looking for a relationship.

But that's not the best part.

On the way to the surface, I stopped by that new human exhibit I'd heard so much about down at the Inkopolis Museum. Some of my coworkers said it's quite a thing to experience...and they were right! I learned so much about humans, and saw so much of their work...including some I'd seized from when I raided that art collector's place. How it got there, I don't know.

They had a human movie marathon that night, where some young adult wizard goes up against these big, bad guys. For human technology, the movies were....simply amazing.

all this work with Grizzco and the Octarian 10 has me beat. So for the first time in a long time, I made a last minute decision to spend the next two weeks on a beachside resort at an undisclosed location but far enough from Alterna that hopefully work won’t find me there.

i tried to invite Agent 8, but she declined, saying she had something to do with the Captain.

i also tried inviting some folks from the HRL, but so far none of them have responded…

guess I’ll be going it alone.

agent O: thanks in part to a former Octarian soldier, who refers to herself as “Evie,” the NSS was able to surround and capture the leader of the Octarian 10; he is now in NSS custody and we anticipate no further risk from him.

he is in strict confinement, with any communications strictly monitored and regulated.

Agent O: spent days hunting down the identity of the Octoling behind the Octarian 10.

little did I know…

i *hired* him.

somehow, this Octoling found his way into my inner circle. into my OCTSTRATTAU.

by the time the rest of us realized…it was too late. he had already downloaded all our intelligence. Sold much of it to Grizzco. Sold out his own unit to throw us off his scent.

and now…

he’s AWOL.

he knows every ex-Octarian we do. and he wants to kill them all.

Agent O: back in the Octarian Army we were bunk mates. then one night, we went off base to a fast-food restaurant. we both ordered meals. i ordered the smash burger, and she ordered the 6-piece squid nuggets. for three nights thereafter, we’d go back to the same restaurant and order the same meal. then one day…she disappeared. not even my other bunkmates knew where she disappeared to.

i left the Army shortly thereafter.

And later Agent 8 showed up, looking almost exactly like my ex…

makes me wonder….

ah, forget it. even if 8 was my ex, she was sanitized and therefore probably no longer the same person.

As part of the investigation into the Octarian 10, the Captain has placed strategic patrols throughout both Inkopolis and Splatsville. Tonight in Inkopolis, one such patrol caught two Octarian 10 operatives climbing the back wall of the apartment complex adjacent to the lobby. With the assistance of other agents and of local Octoling bystanders, both operatives were promptly apprehended and are in NSS custody and being interrogated by OCTSTRATTAU.

The most likely target Octoling was identified and notified; they shall remain anonymous for their protection.

The building will receive additional patrols by the NSS. Additionally, Inkopolis PD has added a unit to that patrol zone, and local buiilding security is working overtime.
