Nagini
Nagini is a small, spicy little girl who got rehomed to us only a few months after her previous owner got her from the breeder.
At 10months old she was only 185g and being fed occasional pinkie rats (not even weekly based on how many were gone from the pack and that he said she comes with 4 months of food 🥀) living in a 20g with misting system, 1/2” of substrate, 24/7 red light, nothing but two hides and a water bowl (oh and a couple discoloured urates and an old shed)
I was very worried about her and eased her into eating by giving first two meals pinkies and then to pups from there. She had one more discoloured urate and has now had a fully healthy coloured one but no poop.
I haven’t weighed her again yet bc she is quite traumatized from being mishandled and we’re working up to that (it’s been 5 weeks since she came home and she has filled out nicely)
when to worry about poop?
I know our other snakes can go a long time without pooping and that drastically underfeeding will lead to no poops but when to worry? Her body just before the cloaca doesn’t look disproportionate like before the others poop. She has been in the bedroom until a week ago because we had other snakes upstairs but with our basement reptile room complete she graduated to the kitchen so she can get desensitized to noises of the house and not always having noise meaning someone will bother her or be in her enclosure.
She skipped her meal for the first time Sunday, but it was only a couple days after the move so I think it was the adjustment of being moved that made her not feel safe to eat.
She was out exploring lots last night, and during the afternoon as well and that’s the first we’ve seen her out of the warm hide since the move to the kitchen.
Warm side: 88 degrees, 72% humidity
Cool side: 78 degrees, 87% humidity
(measured with govees)
No surface temps above 91 with infrared thermometer
Identical hides on warm and cool side, large water bowl, jungle gym our friend 3D printed on cool side for climbing, plenty of clutter hence having to say what all is in the tank 🤣
Screen top has silicone baking mat covering almost all of it, DHP on thermostat for 24/7 lightless heat x
** two of our other balls are in 4x2x2 and one is in a 5x2x2, Nagini will also be in her 4x2x2 when she is past quarantine and deemed safe to be in the reptile room
** last pic is her old home 🥀
This is my quarantine set up for my new baby, Brimstone. I have an Arcadia Arboreal 2.4 but I’m wondering if it’s safe to use in this size of enclosure (12x12x18) or if I should wait until she’s big enough for the next size up
