Wires & Fires

It’s one thing to program a techno loop, and another to feel its pulse right in the wiring. Yes, a standard DAW is faster and easier. But it doesn't give you that raw, physical connection to the sound.

VCV Rack is rocking!

How did I not hear about VCV Rack before? 🤷‍♂️ This thing is beautiful! Why even mess around with power supplies and voltage, spend a ton of money, and still not be sure if it’s even going to work? I get that hardware is its own kind of vibe and fetish, but still — for anyone looking to break into modular synthesis, this thing is an absolute monster, isn't it?

Behringer Crave | Ghost Signal (Hypnotic Dark Ambient Drone)

The journey into the void continues. "Ghost Signal" is the direct sequel to the "Somnium" session, leaving the heavy sub-bass depths behind to drift into the absolute cold of deep space. This track is the sonic chronicle of a ghost ship lost in the uncharted sectors of the galaxy. Pure cosmic isolation, frozen architecture, and infinite empty space.

In Behringer with Love

Somnium (Hypnotic Dark ambient drone)

An exploration of hypnotic textures on the edge of sleep and wakefulness. In this video, the Behringer Crave transforms into an endless generator of dense, enveloping drone with a deep, low-frequency pulse.

Really love this cheap synth ❤️

Love & Pain with Cycles

Hey everyone! Been using the M:C as my first Elektron box for two years now. The workflow and sequencer are absolutely brilliant, but I’m really struggling to adapt to its FM engine for deep/hypnotic techno.

Without external processing, it feels incredibly sterile and overly metallic. The hats (Metal machine) often sound like shattering glass, and the kick lacks that deep, organic low-end warmth needed for hypnotic grooves. The lack of Overbridge makes tracking and separate EQing a pain.

How do you deal with this? Do you just run the master through external analog saturation/compression, or have you found internal sweet spots to make it sound deeper and less harsh? Thanks!

Choosing budget hardware sampler

Hey everyone! I’m facing a dilemma. Right now, I have the Elektron Model:Cycles FM groovebox, two analog synths (Behringer Crave and TD-3-MO), and the tiny Roland S-1. I mainly write Techno (hypnotic, classic, etc.), as well as Breaks and Ambient. However, my setup is missing a sampler to add classic 909 drums, vocals, and various sliced chops and samples to the sterile sound of the Model:Cycles. My budget is limited to around $400. I’m stuck between choosing the TE - EP133 KO2 (128mb), a new Akai MPC/Sample, or the Elektron Model:Samples. I really love the Elektron logic, but I’m hesitant because it has no microphone, no audio input, and no time stretching. What would you recommend choosing, given the styles I work in?
