My review of the last 20 minutes of KB

Bro I can't believe they did that twist with Yura in the final season. And I'm honestly glad they made this person the final villain instead of the other guy.

If only we found out what the pine tree at the end was about...

Kagurabachi was 2027 AOTY. The last 20 minutes were AMAZing.

Minor anime Hanami upscale!!

In the manga Hanami uses her root ball to skewer Nue, by hiding a root ball in her fist which extends into 2 directions. Her fist doesn't actually reach Nue, and she uses the roots to hit Nue just before it could reach her.

Whereas in the anime, there are no roots at all. She just straight punches through Nue.

God I love how Gege does action, and I love anime upscale.

Nanami if he had holiday and sick-day shifts

The average/rough amount of over time pay is 1.5x your regular pay.

Nanami's OT is 1.5x his usual output (1.5 x 80 = 120). So the pay scale carries over.

We can assume that he'd get double time (double your pay), which wouldn't really overlap as you can work extra past the agreed upon shift. So double time then over time.
(2 x 80) x 1.5 => 240%

For the sake of argument, lets assume he's covering for Mei Mei who's in a groomer-teacher conference. So he's getting further enhanced pay for covering her shift as well. We can assume this to be 1.2x. So enhanced pay on top of double time which then goes into overtime.
(2 x [1.2 x 80]) x 1.5 = > 288%

He then lands a BF and gets a 1.2x buff.

Making it 345.6%

Imagine the ratio he'd be able to land lol.

Maki and Toji (full HR) can't heal like RCT can they?

I remember trying it a while back, not finding anything. And the wiki doesn't list it.

But my friend just said it's a thing. So been really confused ngl

Yukisada might be from the Kyonagi clan (like Char)

Crackpot theory I came up with right now but it'd make a ton of sense:

Reasons Yukisada has something else besides the ritual going on for him.

  • Yukisada is incredibly loyal. No other Hishaku member is as devoted as him to Yura and it isn't close. Every other member has other interests on top of their loyalty, whereas Yukisada is solely focused on Yura.
  • Unlike the other vessel who can seemingly be killed from a single use of above average sorcery, Yukisada is fully immortal.
  • Yukisada is incredibly tolerant of pain and has immense mental fortitude. Above even warriors like Chihiro.
  • Yukisada is very young (17) whereas Char is like 8-12 or so ig, so it can work out, as while Char's mother was a teenager when she escaped, Yukisada would be a full blown infant Kung Fu Panda 2 style.
  • The genocide of the clan occurs due to the chaotic period in post war Japan where criminal sorcery was rampant and had a new opportunity to work in public with no Soga clan tying them down. We have no exact time period known though which imo lends more credence to the possibility.

If Yukisada is from the Kyonagi clan and managed to survive the genocide:

  • He'd have an insane hatred for the world that caused his clan's massacre. More than the rest.
  • He'd be easily indoctrinated by Yura's beliefs as he has no guardian figures.
  • He'd already have plenty of time and opportunity to train around the immortality he'd eventually have to get used to pain.

Edit:
Not saying the Kyonagi are immortal and that's why Yukisada is like that. I'm saying Yukisada was Kyonagi from birth, and then that healing ability when applied to a vessel (who is a vector for insane amounts of spirit energy) can then become immortal.

Also it would tie into the rumours of the Kyonagi having that immortality rumour if you eat that. It basically shows how that rumour came into being. The Kyonagi CAN be immortal, but under insane requirements. And then that turned into the rumour of being eaten.

Kusakabe learns Domain Amplfication, how far does he get?

Quick breakdown, made a small gauntlet too:

Kusakabe mentions he knows DA, but couldn't use it. So what if he did?
He can use both at the same time. But now NSS has an extra vow. If he doesn't use NSS to reduce his opponent's CT output, he can reduce their reinforcement slightly more.

Main downside to that is he has to undo that vow if he wants to seal something like a domain within Domain Amplification due to how potent domains are.

How does he scale now and how far does he get?

Kogane WIP

Reference in the 2nd slide

Wings are the hardest part, used way too many planes so any texturing makes overlapping super apparent.

Any feedback is always appreciated ofc. Working on the animation now.

What should curse power on armor do?

More or less just speculation or suggestions since curse power on clothing and the inventory curse has been a thing for a really long time now with basically no changes. So curious as to what people would have in mind.

Can't really just overlap with protection, maybe just a type of protection specialised to curse techniques? A bit like how projectile protection and all is specialised

What are some examples of writing a story to music?

Clarification:

I don't mean writing while listening to music, nor do I mean theming a work around a piece of music. I mean writing something with the expressed intent of the reader listening to a specific piece of music?

It's a very strange idea I know. I only got the idea trying to recreate the concept of reading comics and manga with music in the background. I try to match the tempo, speeding up for action, slowing down during panels with intricate artwork, etc.

It works alright there, but as panels are drawings and action is light in words it works very well for them.

So far the best I can think of by myself is in regards to an action scene. Where one character specifically listens to a playlist of songs to stick to a certain "rhythm". That gives a writer an option to place parts of the song at certain sections organically to pace things out for faster readers. As for emotional or more relaxed scenes, it's harder but it could work by bringing up the lyrics at certain times to allow the reader to listen to the same song and relate to a character more.

More of a gimmick than a proper writing style though. Even with all that each word and piece of punctuation would have to be placed in such a way to ensure no large disconnect happens. But I don't know of anyone who's ever done it before so knowing if someone has tried it before would be nice.

Didn't Yura got insanely lucky failing to kill Akemura

Like would Hiruhiko be immune to the whole "soga's death leads to the other 5 EB wielder's deaths"? I don't remember that being brought up.

Cuz if not. Bro really lucked out.

And as for Yura. He put so much effort into this and Hiruhiko was worth it. But losing the EB and dying after having it for under an hour is WILD. Yura would have wasted so much if killing Akemura ended Hiruhiko too.

No Gege wasn't cross-verse or powerscaling when he made this

Context: It's a Mangaka Musings comment from Akutami from the 7th of August 2022.

First off, it came out during the Cursya/Sakurajima arc. Cursya makes his first appearance in 191 (officially releasing on July 19th 2022), the mach 3 ram in chapter 193 (August 8th of 2022), and Cursya died in chapter 198 (September 26, 2022).

So the comment (not a QnA) everyone uses to "disprove" or "retcon" mach scaling in JJK and the mach 3 ram wasn't in response to any backlash. But was released alongside Gege doubling down and his creation of the mach 3 ram.

Also just for clarification, officially releasing means the official english release taken from the wiki which are noted as a day late (Mondays), mangaka musings are released alongside the chapter release/online Viz release (Sundays).
It's a whole thing.

What does Guts think of the beast of darkness?

Like duh he doesn't like it.

But doing my bi-annual re-read. And I don't think we ever see Guts ponder on the Beast too much. Like does he treat it as a repressed alter-ego or something purely psychological? Or does he treat it like something from the astral plane and it's something feeding off him.

I lean towards "purely psychological" since he hasn't tried to stab it yet. And also he has to be aware of what he looks like in the Berserker armor.

Sakura genuinely could have been the strongest member of team 7 start of Shippuden

The flashback shows she did learn how to do the 100 healings during the timeskip. But she lacked the chakra quantity and was continuously setting aside her own chakra to create the seal for the 100 healings. The first image is her punching a 10 tails spawn (ngl forgot the same, can't be asked) and she does minimal damage. Whereas right after the seal is complete she sends that 1 flying a good distance. A huge strength buff.

That's just something she was always able to do.
Not to mention what she'd be like if she actually could use the 100 healings at the start of Shippuden.

Which Genin would benefit the most from learning an A rank jutsu in part 1?

I mean Naruto learns Rasengan, Sasuke gets the Chidori, so aside from those 2.

But afaik, the gates and butterfly mode don't have explicit rankings (specifically the 5th gate or so, we know the 8th is S rank forbidden jutsu). So if you want you can consider stuff for everyone else.

But wild how Mr "I want to be Hokage" Kiba learns nothing even in part 2 lol.

What would you guys say the themes of Kagurabachi are?

Besides the glory of Toto ofc.

I mean sure revenge is one, righting the wrongs of the past, etc. But those just feel a bit too surface-level icl.

It's a lot harder to guess until we see the full story. But guessing is always fun lol. "Justice" would definitely be a good one to suggest.

WIP Curse Technique: Air Glitch.

The WIP parts are primarily the name and maybe a reversal.
No domains since I just like making those really rare personally.

Air Glitch is a CT primarily inspired by the punch Canti does in this scene of FLCL.

Summary:
When in the air the user can activate their CT to slow down and either alter their position in the air or pivot. The longer they're in the air the more force they build up, as if they were falling.

Overview:
It's a very basic CT, meant to land somewhere between Hakuna Laana (Prayer Song) and Strawdoll. The main purpose is to exploit the fact that air mobility is a very rare thing in JJK.

It doesn't require the user to be competely in the air. It can be used while standing too. And the place they pivot or move around from must be in a 2m radius originating from the user's center. So effectively anywhere the user can touch and any part of their body.

While I said they do infact build more force the longer they are in the air, they can not increase their speed. They simply act like they have more momentum while being seemingly the same. All speed they do gain must only ever be a product of the motions they make, not their air time.

Passive ability:
They can just act completely immune to fall damage.

Binding vow:
A minor binding vow is that the user can gain and alter their position, momentum, and fall rate if they hold their breath while doing so. So hitting them is going to be hard as they can alter their position freely and the amount/rules to do so change with every breath.

Extension CT:
If they glitch their position and build up enough momentum, they can effectively air jump. Though the process is slower.

Who would you say does manga action better: Toriyama or Gege?

  • Please keep it civil. I'm asking because these 2 are genuinely the undisuputed goats of panelling and coreography imo and I want to see what people think. Not that I'm trying to slander one or the other by asking the question.

These 2 are 100% the best when it comes to action coreography imo though.

Dragon Ball

I'll give some info on Toriyama first since this is a JJK sub. Toriyama for part of the manga was putting in insane work for references. He allegedly spent a lot of time watching martial art films and it shows.

Slide 3 is a good example. Freeza goes for a jab(?) with Goku dodging, which also doubles as him winding up a hook. Freeza ducks, which he uses to try land an upwards kick. Goku jumps back and flies away to gain distance, Freeza keeps pressure up by using his eye beams.
It's insanely fluid and every action has an immediate follow up and sense of consequence too. And at the end of the Freeza fight you see blood roll down Goku's face as he looks conflicted and almost saddened, with it looking like a tear.

Jujutsu Kaisen.

In contrast Gege's panelling is a lot more complex, gritty and often messy. Slide 4 and 5 are good examples. Prior to this Yuji dodged piercing blood, and was going to throw a punch with Choso defending himself, with Yuji realising too late that 3 supernovas were behind him. Yuji stumbles forward as Choso keeps an arm ahead with some guard remaining as he crouches down, making a knife to stab Yuji's feet while he's close. Yuji pushes through the pain, going for a kick as he spins on his hands, pushing Choso's hand and head down as he jumps up. Using the momentum of the kick to boost himself above Choso who's still turned a bit and kicks him with the other foot.

And at the middle of the fight were they're in the toilets, Gege references The Raid, but with Yuji replacing the antagonist's position.

It's a lot more cramped if that's the right word. Far more likely to include reaction panels, certain details often get missed in many fights (especially Naoya vs Maki) and exchanges carry out longer and are more complex than Toriyama's. So it all really depends on which one you prefer.

Just to make this clear.

Infintesimally close to zero doesn't mean he wastes 0.001% of the CE he puts in. Or he wastes 0.00000001%, or even 1x10^(-12) %.

It is effectively 0. Smaller than any number you can list. If you sit and list zero's all day long it would still be smaller than that. You can think of it as, 1/infinity. That's what it means to see CE on an atomic level.

Atomic simply means everything is as small and simple as it can get. You can't break things down anymore. On an atomic level things only operate in those individual units.

Even Sukuna who is described as "Godly" with CE manipulation by Kashimo (who is seething while he says that) still puts Gojo at an overall higher tier in terms of CE efficiency.

The only way Yuji can have better CE effiency is if he randomly created CE, not by naturally generating more as all living creatures do. No, he has to use 2 parts CE to do something and end the process with 3.

You can not manipulate CE on a level smaller than Gojo.

u/GonnaChiefYourNan — 2 months ago

Switch Meguna with Heian Sukuna if you want, they should have the same level of CE manipulation.

Note: Pure CE manipulation, no domains, rct skill, binding vow skill, etc.

You can use their "IQ" or "talent" to back your reasoning up, but it can't be the entire basis of your reasoning.

So something like just "Sukuna copies stuff very well" isn't enough.

All characters here have some insane talent. Gojo makes innovative stuff on the fly, Sukuna copies almost everything from a simple glance, Dabura awakened to a domain and high level RCT despite their complexity as soon as he learned of them, Yuji can sense a black flash far ahead of its usage + best soul stuff.

u/GonnaChiefYourNan — 2 months ago

I do not know any 2 people who have such a perfect pairing of abilities.

Resonance deals soul damage, high ap, but relies on a long range telegraphed attack, hitting nails. We see in Shibuya you don't need to actually need to use a strawdoll and an offering to hit your host. You can hit them directly. Something like an arm is already a fatal blow to most characters, using the target themselves as an offering would be op as hell.

There's also hairpin for surprise attacks at high ap.

Tool manipulation is held back by the tools you can get, along with the issue of a ranged ability that lacks high ap.

So while Tool Manipulation helps cover up the weakness of missing your attacks, allowing for attacks to change direction and land a resonance even after you miss.

Strawdoll means you've got as many tools as you desire with all of them having huge ap thanks to the nature of Strawdoll.
