Best story arcs across comics?

I often see people post about their favourite runs & characters, but rarely do I see specific storylines / arcs called out.

An example for me would be cataclysm for Batman, as it runs across several books, but was an arc (some would call it an event)

So what would you say are you favourite story arcs of all time, regardless of Big 2, Indie or anything else?

A few from me

- Cataclysm
- The Origin of Hob Goblin
- Welcome back Frank

Trying to get platinum should I save before or after Dragon Emperor?

So I’m in the final stretch of the journey with just two of the endings left (I have the Bo Magus one and the Bad Ending).

The video guide I have been watching to get 100% is really vague though on when to save.

It has told me to manually save/backup before the Dragon Emperor but then the next step after I finished the Bad Ending, was to talk to the NPC present after you beat the Emperor Dragon in Chapter 5

While I’ve beaten the Emperor Dragon, I barely did it, so I could see it being annoying if I need to beat them another two times for the final two endings.

So my question is, should the backup be before or after the Dragon, as if it’s after it’ll likely save me an hour on backtracking, but obviously if that’s required happy to do it

Bo Magus is awful

I’ve been stuck on this boss for over 2hours now 🤣🤣

I wouldn’t mind but I don’t feel I’m getting any closer

Any recommended builds as I’ve watched a few YouTube videos and I’m actually further away when using theirs 🤣🤣

Comics where nobody is safe

I’ve been reading through a lot of historic stories recently (I even did a post on it yesterday) but as I read through some comics last I realised that even when there are deaths, for the most part, a resurrection is not long behind in modern comics.

So I’m looking for series where dead means dead & when there’s a battle/fight, you always know that your favourite character could be one panel from disappearing

The Walking Dead & Invincible were great at this (I’ve read all of Kirkmans comics btw, but I wouldn’t say any of them have the same feeling IMO)

Any recommendations?

Flamebringer Sword Didn’t Appear

So I’m going for the platinum, and have been beating anyone I needed to & collecting all the pendants.

However, as I got to the Tiger, who I was struggling on, all the guides said about the Flamebringer sword.

So having beaten that required boss, I thought “oh great” then going through the lockbox and my inventory I see in fact I don’t have it 🫠🫠

Any other place it could be? It doesn’t appear from searching that it’s a known glitch

Asking here, as if it has failed to appear, even ng+ I doubt will make it appear, so I’ll just write off the platinum in the first run, as I don’t intend to do several runs of this game without the platinum on the table

Timeless/Essential Reads

After clearing up my backlog, I want to go through some essential storylines across the big 2

Looking to cover as many characters as possible, so would love a diverse list

When they were written doesn’t matter, but I’m aiming for comics which still hold up/are easy reads for someone who only started reading comics around 2010.

I’m looking for storylines not runs too.

So what would you guys recommend

Recommended Grind Location (At Bo Sorcerer)

So I just beat Bo Sorcerer which was easily my first skill check of the run.

So I’ve just looked at the recommended level to beat her and I’ve seen several posts on here saying 70-80 is the right type of level.

While I suspect this is vastly inflated, being at level 48, I now suspect I might need to level before the final 3rd of the game, to avoid banging my head against the wall on a skillcheck boss whose name I’ve seen a lot, but I’m yet to reach.

At this point in the story, what location would you say is a good place to get myself to around level 60?

How are Injustice Year 4 + 5?

Having found the whole Injustice series (including 2) on sale a couple of months ago, I’ve finally been getting through it.

During Injustice Year 3 though, I felt like there was a dip in quality. Still very engaging because of its pace but I felt the ability to put my iPad down between issues, whereas the first 2 years I read in maybe 4 days.

At first I thought it was because this year was based on the magical side of DC, and area I’ve just never vibed with (I know a lot of people love Constantine I’m sorry(, but as I opened the final issue of the year, I saw Tom Taylor is no longer the writer…having checked the dip in quality (in my opinion) coincided perfectly with the change.

So my question is, is the period between Taylor leaving and returning in Injustice 2, mainly an OK story but not the same highs as before?

Power Fantasy Issue 16 - I have questions

So I just finished issue 16, and I want to check I’ve understood everything right

  1. Lux is dead? I expected him to have a backup despite being sent to space
  2. Why did some people get turned to crystals? I thought maybe they were in the wrong location but it seemed random
  3. Was Masumis distress what brought out the monster from the sea?
  4. Did it kill everyone and only then did Valentina act?
  5. How did Valentina go back in time? She’s an angel, but as far as I know that’s not an ability she’s used before

And finally more of a general question about the series…why was it set in the past? Doesn’t matter but odd they did it that way, but didn’t really call on specific events from those years

Hickman X-Men Omnibus - What’s Missing?

I brought the two Hickman Omnibus’s this week, and they arrive tomorrow.

I’m unsure what is missing to take you through to Inferno though, does anyone have any guidance?

I know Inferno is, but anything else?

Bendis Era Marvel - What to Read

I’ve decided, my next big read, is the one which originally got me into this great hobby, Bendis Era Marvel

What I want to do though, is read not just Bendis books, but any where at the time, they were as impactful as the Bendis written ones in driving the world forward. What I mean by this is, Civil Wars Frontline, everyone says is actually better than the Civil War event.

I know not all the big events were Bendis, but I will read all those alongside New Avengers, Mighty Avengers etc.

Does any one know of a great Reading Order, the ones I’ve found are basically specific to just those books written by Bendis, whereas I want one that says “read IronMan issues X to Y, as this effects Z”?

My employer has changed my job without any approval. This new job title could be detrimental to my career (England)

My employer has this month changed the job titles of my entire department, essentially to a title, which would be considered “Support” when our previous role is more aligned to Commercial or Sales.

While my LinkedIn and CV will remain the same, as they cannot influence that, I have concerns how many people in my industry would see this change through others across my function updating their LinkedIn or it being seen in Slack as we work with 10’s of 1000’s of companies worldwide.

From doing some research, it seems like they are able to do this, without my approval under certain conditions, but I’d argue, that the C-Suite is doing this, to actively try to get people to quit, without having to make redundancies for two reasons

  1. They wouldn’t need to pay us severance
  2. They pride themselves on saying they’ve never made a single redundancy, which is a line they often spout online.

Keen to get any guidance, as it feels like constructive dismissal (could be wrong), as this new job title, is forcing me to go look for a new job, as in 6-9 months time, I could see my job prospects worsening.

Is there any basis to me saying, I refuse for my job title to be updated internally including through Slack, and my role responsibilities cannot be changed without my approval.

I’ve been at the company 3 years; I’m based in England, and my contract states my job title.

X-O Manowar 2012 - Does it continue being this good?

So I’m close to finishing Planet Death, and wow what a 14 issues

However…I kind of feel like in a couple more issues, it could come to a natural end, however I’m aware I’m barely 1/3 through.

There is said to be a dip in quality at around the mid 20’s but the series ends well.

However, my question, the series has made the main antagonists clearly not strong enough to be credible threats. So do they bring in enemies who can bring a bit of jeopardy or is the series just going to be us watching him mow down anyone in his path for another 20-25 issues?

Tattoo Artists - Epsom (or close towns to Tadworth)

Looking for help, as I’ve put in a few enquiries to tattoo shops in Epsom online and not heard back.

Would any recommend tattoo artists, I’m in Tadworth, so Epsom seems logical, but anyone within a reasonable distance is fine.

Nothing too fancy, but me and my partner want to get tattoos for our kids (and I want a second if Arsenal close out the title 👀👀)

Is there anyone who’s recommended?

Which SoulsLike on Ps Plus?

So I go through stages of watching films a lot, then smashing out some games. It feels games time again, but looking at ps plus right now there seems A LOT of options.

Only one I’ve beaten is Lies of P.

I do like trophies so while I would say game play is the most important thing, I would like one where I can get the platinum as I have across all the Soulsbourne and Lies of P

Which would you personally recommend?
