Is it a red flag if a guy completely leaves the rishta decision on his parents as a grown up adult?

The parents have asked that the girl and guy should talk and it's better to get to know each other. Girl's family hasnt met up with the guy cause he's abroad. They did take the girl's number so the guy can contact. Haven't had contact yet. But the girl got to know from the person who introduced the families that the guy is completely dependent on his parents to make this decision for him. Which feels weird to the girl as she'd like someone who is interested in her.
The guy's family seems to have a really good bond with each other and the parents, like friends.
What are the reasons someone wouldn't wanna choose for themselves in today day and age? And is it a bad thing?

This subreddit was created to be different.

We are not here for casual hangouts, ranting, low-effort posts, “m4f” or confession-style content that already floods other Pakistani subs. If you’re looking for that vibe, this is not the place.

• High-value discussions on building wealth, scaling businesses, career growth in Pakistan & abroad, real estate, stocks, entrepreneurship, and creating opportunities.

• Fitness, discipline & lifestyle – transformation journeys, routines, health optimization, and building an elite mindset.

• Networking & genuine connections – established professionals, entrepreneurs, and high-achievers sharing insights, mentorship, or collaboration opportunities.

• Practical advice that actually moves people forward no get-rich-quick schemes, no scams, no begging for contacts.

This is a subreddit for doers and builders people who have money, fitness, strong relationships, discipline, or are seriously working towards becoming elites in their field.

Rules (Strictly Enforced):

• No low-quality rants or victim mentality posts.

• No dating/flirting/“looking for” posts.

• No scams, investment schemes, or suspicious promotions.

How do guys manipulate innocent/shy girls on Reddit? How to spot the red flags early?

Hey everyone I wanted to start a discussion because I’ve noticed patterns where certain people (often guys) seem to target innocent, shy, or less experienced users on Reddit for manipulation or grooming. I want to learn how to identify and avoid them to protect myself and others.

Reddit can feel safe at first because it’s mostly text and anonymous, but that also makes it easy for manipulators to build false trust. What are some common tactics you’ve seen or experienced, especially in DMs, comments, or dating/meetups subreddits?

Common things I’ve heard about or noticed:

• Heavy love bombing with constant compliments and “you’re so special/different” talk very early

• Quickly pushing to move the conversation to Snapchat, Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, etc.

• Oversharing personal trauma or emotions to create instant deep trust

• Getting defensive, guilt-tripping, or turning things around when boundaries are set

• Asking for personal info, photos, voice notes, or nudes framed as “building a real connection”

• Acting like a super nice/understanding person while subtly isolating you from other opinions

• Future-faking with big promises or long-term talk to keep you hooked

How do you spot these manipulators early? What red flags do you look for in their comment/post history? Any practical tips for chatting with people here safely without getting emotionally played?

Would love to hear real experiences from anyone who’s dealt with this (victims or observers), and advice from people who stay safe while still being open to talking to others. No judgment — being trusting isn’t a crime, we just want to get wiser about it.

Thanks.
