Can we talk about the gatekeeping in this community?

I wanted to make a post about the overall vibe of this sub lately, especially regarding how new members and beginners are treated.
For a community that frequently talks about making this fashion style more inclusive and accessible, the reality feels a bit contradictory. It seems like if a beginner shares a post and doesn't meet the exact, flawless standards of a few long-time members, they get hit with unsolicited, harsh criticism rather than actual support.
Worse, if someone stands up for themselves or points out that they weren't looking for a critique, the comments quickly turn into a dogpile. People shouldn't have to walk on eggshells or brace themselves for negativity just to participate here.
Everyone starts somewhere, and nobody learns a style overnight. If we want this community to actually grow and stay alive, we should be uplifting people who are trying out the fashion instead of gatekeeping it and driving people away.
To the members who actually show kindness and support to beginners, thank you. For everyone else, I hope we can start making this a more welcoming space.
