Redirecting a Class-I comet from an impact trajectory

Ellie, the Class-I comet on an impact trajectory with Kerbin, turned out to be an 800 kt monster. You can see the size of the Meer in comparison to it. I had to do a 9000 m/s burn to intercept it fifteen days before it reaches Kerbin SOI.

Project Ellie: Jeb, Bill, Bob, and Valentina embark on the Meer to save Kerbin from a Class-I comet impact

So I posted earlier about stopping a class I comet on an impact trajectory with Kerbin, and got some pretty good advice about it. This is the result. I'm playing with the Nertea mods, so my engine of choice for this is four 2.5 m nuclear engines running on liquid H2, which I've got in asparagus-like staging in the back there for the main transfer, which costs about 11,000 m/s of delta-v.

I've calculated that a 1,544,170 ton body - which is the apparently the upper limit of a Class-I comet - can be accelerated 0.0008 m/s^2 with my four 310 kN engines. Ten days out from Kerbin SOI, I need about 3 m/s of delta-v to shift the comet enough that it skims the atmosphere for an aerobreak, but I'm budgeting for 5 m/s just in case. Any leftover can be used to try and get me a better inclination. This is a 6250 second burn that will require 12,008,250 units of liquid hydrogen. I tested my ISRU rig on an asteroid and got about 132 units/sec, so the whole maneuver will take about 4.21 Kerbin days.

Getting an intercept doesn't seem to be that hard. I can get one a good 15 days before Ellie reaches Kerbin SOI, but the sooner I reach it, the greater the relative velocity is when I get there. Right now, it's about 9,000 m/s - which is the main problem. Honestly, if this were irl, you'd be tempted to just nuke the damn thing.

Our heroes are on an interplanetary trajectory now, and have about 10,800 m/s of delta-v left. Wish them luck.

If Global CO2t/kWh Values had Matched French CO2t/kWH Values, Atmospheric CO2 Concentration Would be at 1993 Levels

I was curious this evening and decided to measure how much the effectiveness of the French transition to cleaner energy sources. Taking energy consumption data and CO2 emission data, I did a crude calculation where I calculated French CO2t/kWh for each year between 1970 and 2024, then used it to predicted alternative annual global CO2 emissions numbers assuming equal energy consumption. The result was that following the French CO2t/kWH resulted in a cumulative 538 gigaton difference in CO2 emissions over this timescale. This corresponds to a ppm reduction of about 60, which would put present-day CO2 concentration at 1990s levels. We can therefore conclude that the world would be about 30 years further along decarbonisation if its emissions had matched those of France.

Meet Ellie, the Class-I comet on an impact trajectory with Kerbin. Any recommendations for when I should intercept this thing?

So I posted this a while ago, and got a lot of recommendations about intercepting, aerobrakes, and how I can keep this thing from making kerbals join the dinosaurs. That handles the how, but I'm still not sure about the where. I get that sooner is better, but where would I launch from to intercept this thing?

So what's the procedure for a Class-I comet on an impact trajectory with Kerbin?

Just unlocked the unknown object tracking feature on day 20 of my career mode playthrough and I find this thing. Any recommendations? I'd like to avoid wiping out a country.

So I've been trying to come up with some fanon lore to fill in the parts of the galaxy the game doesn't touch on. This here is pre-First Contact War lore detailing two regions of the galaxy, which are in turn split into 'sectors' - a group of one or more clusters connected by relays. It includes the location of capital worlds and a brief description of each region.

You can find additional information on the following.
Ielora Autonomous Zone, Iropti Administrate, Sesvin Commission: Here
Yenille Cooperative: Here
