(In Hand Review) Air Jordan 4 “Toro Bravo” 2026 (LJR) from TMF (with GX Comparison)

As always, this is for informational purposes only and not an ad or endorsement. This is just my personal opinion based on my pair and experience, not meant to sway anyone. I’m not a professional authenticator, just a sneakerhead who pays attention to details.

The Sneakers:

The suede color looks really close to what we’ve been seeing so far online, and the overall shape feels refined from pretty much every angle. The toe box is slim without looking collapsed, the cages are evenly placed, and the wings sit at a nice angle without looking oversized or bulky. One of the biggest things that stood out to me in hand was the edging around the suede cuts, where LJR has more of that subtle white piping around leather panels, while still keeping clean craftsmanship and sharp cuts throughout the shoe. The suede itself feels soft with a little movement, and the black midsole paint has smooth transitions into the white with no sloppy edges. Heel tabs, tongue patch placement, and overall proportions all look really solid this early. Comparing these to early images online of the upcoming 2026 pair, LJR honestly came out swinging.

GX vs LJR:

Now having both GX and LJR side by side, I honestly think both factories did a good job, just in slightly different ways. LJR feels a little more focused on matching some of the finer details we’ve been seeing in early photos and videos online, especially around the piping effect and toe shape, while GX feels slightly more uniform and cleaner in overall panel consistency. This can be due to the QC between pairs. GX is a bit more of a rich red, while LJR is slightly dull like the 2026 is noted to have. GX also has a natural raw leather piping compared to the white piping on LJR. From a distance both look very good, and once they’re on foot most people probably wouldn’t notice a difference unless they’re really studying the shoe. It honestly starts becoming preference territory depending on what details stand out most to you.

TMF came through. Had a logistics issue with my first parcel and after TMF confirmed the situation (and I was patient as they did), TMF got these to me fast, in about a week from GL to doorstep. At this point their shipping speed is honestly hard to beat and still one of the quickest I’ve dealt with. Communication stayed simple and smooth the whole way through. They’ve been around forever for a reason and still move like vets in this space. TMF really hasn’t turned the bass down yet.

In hand, these honestly feel really good. I have to say this is my favorite retro Jordan 8 colorway. The black suede has a soft buttery feel to it and gives the pair that premium vibe the Playoff 8s are supposed to have. Comparing my pair to retail photos online, the overall shape looks solid, especially around the side panels, cross straps, and heel structure. The colors on the midsole graphics and outsole pop nicely without looking too bright, there are glitter bits on the midsole and the chenille tongue patch looks clean too. The toe shape is smooth and not bulky, which is something I always pay attention to on 8s. Only thing I caught after the fact is the left heel pull tab is slightly longer than the right, which I overlooked during QC, but on foot it’s not something anyone is realistically going to notice. Overall, DG2.0 did these justice IMO 🔥🔥.
