Uncanny X-Men #221 Thought Experiment. Which would you rather have right now?

Given the hubbub around X-Men #221 since the casting announcement of Adam Driver, here's a question for you speculators:

Let's say both of these options below are on the table. If you had to choose only one option, which do you think is the better acquisition right now?

a) X-Men #221 CGC 9.8 Universal for $365
b) X-Men #221 CGC 9.6 Signature Series signed by Chris Claremont for $200

Some context.... this is a deal I considered today and did ultimately make my choice. My main objective is not just to see as large a return as possible (I mean, of course, that would be great), but to use the book as part of a deal to obtain a key or two in upper-mid grade that are still missing from the ASM run of #1 - 150 that I'm currently building. Most of what I need are early in the run.

I'm also open to alternative scenarios -- I defer to your knowledge and experience.

So which do you think is the better choice and why? And when would you deploy it as a sale or trade asset?

Just arrived…

Man, do I love that cover. Have a raw copy, but just had to upgrade. And it’s going to display well alongside another book I just landed, that one from the silver age…💚😁

The Dreamer’s Path

Very excited to receive my copy of The Dreamer’s Path by u/BrentRSimon! Can’t wait to dive in.

Bonus points if you can identify the two Lynch keepers in the background of this photo.

Past to Present

I’m in the middle of a pretty big project revisiting and cataloguing my entire collection, going through the long boxes that started to grow in high school.

Just pulled these today.

Man, am I glad I knew enough to put them in Mylites back in the day… nod of appreciation to my younger self.

Spare a grade?

Passed on this today, below my preferred grade band… or so I think. Slight foxing on the back cover; tanning cover interiors. OW pages. Where would you place it?

This one's on its way back from CGC...

Very happy with the result. Love the 6.0 OW/W result. For me, the sweet spot for a Silver/Bronze Age book is 6.5 W. I just love the look -- the fact that the book has been loved, read, has a ding or two, but presents beautifully.

What's your favorite grade and why?

Was inspired by AverageComicEnjoyer's post below

I'm building a run of ASM #1 - 150, and this is the most meaningful book in the collection. Not going to retire on it or anything, but I was in high school in the late 80's (yes, I'm that old) when I started collecting for real. Was always a huge Spider-Man fan. Still am. I broke the bank when I bought this back in the day... probably around 1988. It was on sale at an LCS 1/2 price event. Bought it for... $50. As in one half of $100. Was smart enough to put it in a mylar sleeve with a backing board. Kept it raw in a longbox until last year when I had it graded, and now it's framed on the wall (hence the glare from the UV coated glass frame). I'll never upgrade it. It's the keeper of all keepers.
