My first purchase since joining this sub

I had a small Marshall’s gift card to use up and thanks to this sub I knew that I should check out the lip balm/oil/scrub/etc section. I had some brands in mind but was pretty open to just seeing what was there. After many rounds of eliminations I wound up with these two items.

This is my first Laniege product. I am nearing the end of a Milani rose lip mask and I’ve liked it. I knew I wanted another overnight mask and this one seems to be well-regarded so I’m giving it a try! There’s a huge amount of product in this tub lol, this will take a long time to pan. I just put a little swipe over the matte liquid lipstick I’m wearing and the taste/scent is alright, not unpleasant, subtle enough, and reminds me of something from childhood… is it those wax lips? I mean that in the best possible way lol. I picked Berry because it was a few bucks cheaper than the other options. The scent/flavor vanishes pretty quickly which is good because I don’t really need it to taste like anything and I’d rather not taint my water bottle with my lip products.

I wasn’t expecting to pick up a lip scrub but I’m almost done with my current L’Occitane scrub, which works well but overall I don’t enjoy. So I’m hopeful this one will be effective and pleasant enough to use.

I have a major problem with buying cosmetic lip products and I’m trying to pan them, but I have room for some good nourishing balms and scrubs to keep my lips in shape to use up all my assorted lipsticks/crayons/etc.

If I buy one polish this month, I’ve narrowed it down to these two. I’m kinda stuck between them.

I would love to redeem Midnight Drive as a reward, and since LE’s never go on sale, I may as well use this as a chance to pick up what would be my third Avatar polish (I own Bloodbender and Spirit Water).

The Avatar State - this is the one I’m a bit more drawn to overall, as a fan of sparkly shimmers. And of course the blue glow is just so cool and unique. I own Green Eyed Monster and Midnight Lullaby already, along with some other white shimmery or sheer polishes. So I don’t know if it’s a bit redundant despite the unique glow? The layering options are very appealing.

My Cabbages!- this one I’m a little less sure about, but it is so unique, I certainly don’t own a polish like it, and everyone has given rave reviews. It sounds like it’s glowy and beautiful and super unique. Green was never a big draw to me UNTIL I got into MC and now I own quite a few greens….but I still skip plenty of them, as I prioritize other colors (Serpents of Eden, Plankton, Ribbit Ribbit are all popular greens but I don’t think they’re meant for me). I love MC’s various flakie formulas (Spaceoddity, Maelstrom, Molten Lava, etc - all different flakie styles, all awesome). My Cabbages would stand out as very unique in the collection; there’s zero dupe risk here. Is it really that glowy and dazzling and special? Is the flakie type kinda like Spaceoddity?

I’m so stuck. Going by my tastes & insticts alone, I’d probably pick The Avatar State. But I have many similar polishes, just no blue glow. Green isn’t a favorite color, though I wear it sometimes (wearing Mutiny rn!), but Cabbages looks like a really special, unique polish.

If you have both, does one strike you as more special, unique, or worth buying? Both are very highly regarded so it’s kinda hard to make a wrong choice, but I’ll only be choosing one for now. 😬

MUTINY! ⚔️

There was only one choice for this week’s patriotic holiday.

I haven’t worn Mutiny in a really long time, not since first buying it. I forgot just how fantastic this polish is! It magnetizes like a dream, has great depth, and the color is just fantastic. The base color is very dark, but a little more green than an “almost black” like Access Denied, and is a great match for our reflecting pool. The shimmery magnetic particles really come alive when hit with direct light, they seem to have motion to them and it reminds me of The Matrix. I went with a guillotine-angled cat eye. MUTINY!

1x Hardcore base, 2x Mutiny, 1x Speed Demon

I hadn’t used Speed Demon for my past few manis, and returning to it reminds me just why I bother putting the effort forth to baby and maintain it. It’s sooo glossy. I’m curious to see how well it holds up because I remember it chipped pretty quickly the first time I wore it, but that may have been a fluke. The durability was my only small criticism the first time I wore it, so as long as this one holds up reasonably long I’d bump my rating up to 5*.

Do you think Triceratops would scratch the itch I have for Enchanted Mist? 🤔

I really try to avoid the DD fomo that creeps into our minds at times, but I’ve been unable to quite shake my curiosity for Enchanted Mist for the past few months. Something keeps holding me back from buying it (probably because even a reasonably priced DD + shipping is still a considerable amount to spend on a bottle I’m not even sure will look good on my hands).

Triceratops is one that I was never too interested in before, but I’ve seen some recent pics (matte esp) that are really beautiful and the flakes look quite glowy. I added it to my wishlist a few weeks ago, and now I’m wondering, are they similar enough that Triceratops could satisfy the “want” for Enchanted Mist? Of course they’re not exactly the same, different tones of gray, and the flakies are different colors, but I’m getting similar vibes. Maybe I’m off here, but to me there’s overlap.

If you happen to have both — what do you think of Enchanted Mist? Do you feel like having Triceratops covers the need for a gray flakie, or is it worth owning both? Of course I’m interested in knowing if either one is especially wonderful, disappointing, or just meh. Even if you don’t have both and can’t compare, I’m interested in your thoughts on either one! Enchanted Mist is a lighter gray, but in some swatch photos it appears a good deal darker than the website pics, bringing it closer to Triceratops’ gray. Still lighter, but not as far apart as the website indicates.

Please help me shake this stubborn “want.” lol.. I’ve been strong in the face of a lot of recent destashes (and weak with some others, ngl).. but this one polish is hard to shake for some reason. I’m open to finding out it’s either disappointing or everything you wished for. 😊

Bog Dweller (glass bead) and Mind the Thorns (velvet) Bee’s Knees Lacquer 🐝

This might be the summer of half-manis as I try to work my way through an extensive backlog of untried polishes (somewhere between 50 and 60 yet to be worn at all… 😔 well, now I can scratch two off that list!).

Bog Dweller lived up to the hype for me. It’s incredibly glassy, shiny, has great dimension, and the jade color is beautiful. It reminds me a lot of another magnetic polish I adore, Mooncat’s Devil’s Ivy. Not a dupe, as that one isn’t fine particle, but they’re similar. As far as which one I prefer, I guess it depends on whether I want that dimensional fine particle look or the more all-around sparkly shimmer look I get with Devil’s Ivy. I could add a photo of Devil’s Ivy in the comments in case anyone was curious about the similarities. Whereas Bog Dweller gets all the love, Devil’s Ivy is often overlooked and has received some unfavorable reviews, as it’s a more subtle magnetic, but I really do love it.

Mind the Thorns is a really beautiful color. I had a hard time when I was attempting glass bead with it, it kept just coming out looking like velvet, so I gave in and went with the easier option and let it be the velvet mani it wanted to be. Don’t mind the small chip on my index finger. That’s not the polish’s fault. That spot on my nail has some snags/uneveness that I cannot seem to file out. I’ve been trying to file it out for weeks and I’ll likely just have to take the length way down and start fresh to get rid of it.

I originally planned to hold the cute little Mexican sunflower behind my hands, but I was surprised by a very cute kinda large pale yellow spider who is living on it. He made it clear that the flower is his, so I just quickly took some pics in front of the flower and let him get back to enjoying the afternoon. ☺️ 🕷️

An orange that works for me?! What? I didn’t expect or even want to fall in love with Molten Lava (DD), but it’s amazing 🌋🌞🏵️🎃

I picked up Molten Lava a little while back, adding it last second to a bundle for a fair price. I had zero expectation that this color would work for me. I was curious but highly skeptical, and figured it would probably be a color I’d trade for a different DD. Even on a swatch stick I didn’t see how it could work.

Well I love it. The first and only orange that I enjoy. I love it so much that a potential dupe caught my eye recently, when normally I just scroll past anything even slightly orange (I dont remember what this potential dupe is though 🤦‍♀️).

It’s firey, glowy, mostly orange & gold, though sometimes I catch an almost reddish tone. I’m normally all about a glossy finish, even for the matte colors, but I just put Matte Made in Hell on one hand and it’s absolutely improved in the matte state. Kinda wish I had worn it matte for the week, rather than adding MMiH now, when I’ll be removing the mani tomorrow.

It’s held up very well to an especially tough work week (packing & moving tons of heavy boxes, lots of deep cleaning). I did chip my left index fingernail yesterday, so that finger is hiding in my matte photos, and trying to conceal some other slight wear spots. I should’ve added MMiH to the right hand which is still looking good, but lm tired and wasn’t thinking lol.

In the matte form it very much reminds me of a Jack-o-lantern 🎃 definitely revisiting this one in the fall!

The weather was all over the place this week, so I added stickers to try to convey the lighting situations. I noticed that my shirt one day matched Molten Lava pretty well, and took one pic of it in a pretty dark room both with and without flash.

All photos are semi-glossy, with one coat of Speed Demon, except the two photos where I’m holding the bottle. I say semi-glossy because I really should’ve added a second coat to make it fully glossy, but never got around to it (I can’t emphasize enough how exhausting work was this week lol)… it seemed to drink up some of the top coat and was only semi-glossy. It still had a slightly matte texture with one coat.

1x Hardcore base coat, 1x Getting Even primer, 2x Molten Lava, 1x Speed Demon. Added 1x Matte Made in Hell on one hand for the bottle photos.

A true Mooncat miracle. A bright orange that works on pale cool skin. 🥹

Such Sweet Sorrow - super sparkly in direct light, a muted dusty purple denim in dim light 💜

No opportunity to see how it looks outside in natural sunlight (🌧️), but I imagine it’ll be sparkly in the car tomorrow in the morning sun. I bought Such Sweet Sorrow quite a while ago but this is my first time wearing it. I wasn’t sure what mani to choose this weekend, and this time I was sold by the name above all else. Got some news that has me all full of wistful, longing, sentimental feelings with some tinges of sorrow, regret, and as always, a good stir of anxiety. Nothing tragic, but I’m going full dramatic with Such Sweet Sorrow.

The color reminds me of denim, if denim was more purple toned than blue. In person, I see some greenish shifts at some angles, but this one is simply a very sparkly muted purple for the most part. I can see why some people descibe it as foil-like. The formula is quite thin, so I needed three coats. It’s thin but packed with sparkly shimmer. It might be useful as a topper, as one coat was just a thin coat of shimmer, and I don’t think it would really block out what it goes over. The sparkly nature of it reminds me of The Stolen Kiss and Banquet of Breadcrumbs, so I see how they’re all related. Of the three, The Stolen Kiss remains my favorite (it’s just so sooo good), Such Sweet Sorrow would fall in the middle, and Banquet is such a lovely polish that I have little use for, unfortunately, since the color isn’t so flattering on me.

I’ll probably experiment with using something on top of this mani, just to see what happens. Maybe a magnetic. Maybe a layer of Supervilian, which I still need to try.

It’s a great shimmer, but when I’m less in my wistful feelings I’ll probably want to play with layering it over something to give the color a little more punch. Have you layered anything under or over Such Sweet Sorrow?

Excuse the single errant cat hair sticking off my pinky nail btw 🤦‍♀️ I was totally cat hair-free right before taking pics, and must’ve picked one up on the curtain lol. I’ll add a pic of the furry monster in comments, along with two pics of Such Sweet Sorrow without the flash.

The Ones Who Live - Emily de Molly

My first Emily de Molly polish! As someone who loves glowiness above all else in a polish, this color is knocking it out of the park.

I know we say it all the time, but, omg for real my crappy photos don’t even come CLOSE to capturing how this looks in person. I’m almost ashamed to share these pics because I know you’re not seeing what I’m seeing and it’s SO good. The glowiest of glows. I want to say it leans more purple than blue, but it’s really both. I don’t even know if it’s blurple … it just looks blue and it looks purple and it glows all day.

I chose this one because we’re having lots of overcast cloudy rainy weather and I know my other glowy shimmers seem to come alive in that setting. I don’t have any pics in bright direct light, but trust me it looks gorgeous everywhere. Way better than what you see here.

Oh no, I can’t afford to add another polish brand to my heart, though 😬 Emily de Molly has wowed me with this one and I’m looking forward to trying out the rest of my lil sales haul. I’m so glad to have found her, but grateful that there will be a long pause until the next sale!

Have you worn this one? I haven’t seen it posted much anywhere yet (unless I’m just missing it). I’m thinking of topping it with something in a day or two, just as an experiment … maybe something from my “meh” pile can be brought to life with this as a base.

Oh and please excuse any dings you may spot on the ring finger. The polish stayed a bit soft/squishy longer than expected and I dented it overnight. Then “fixed” the dent and dinged the very tip of the top coat almost immediately lol, so I stopped fixing things at that point.

1x Mooncat hardcore base, 1x Mooncat getting even primer, 2x Emily de Molly The Ones Who Live, 1x Sally Hansen insta-dri red bottle qdtc

Oh wait, maybe it stayed a little softer after application because I used primer this time? I rarely use primer but my nails needed some smoothing, so that may be the culprit responsible for the dent/wrinkle that happened.

First two photos indoors near a window on a dim cloudy rainy early evening with minimal indirect natural light. Second two pics outside on a mostly cloudy afternoon. Last pic inside my dark workspace with some indirect natural light coming from a distant window.

What do you like to use Aura on?

I have a bottle of Aura, and I’d love to hear of any great suggestions you may have! So far I’ve only used it on one swatch stick (Into the Abyss) and I really love the effect. I’m guessing it can work with most cremes… I’m thinking darker colors may be preferable?

Have you used it over any non-creme formulas? How did that look?

I’m now realizing this may be perfect for some of my thermals that always require a little boost .. Dark Omens jumps to mind first, Moral Decay, maybe Twilight Sonata, perhaps Queen of the Dead. I usually just use Moondust, but Aura could be more fun.

If you happen to have a photo of a mani or swatch stick using Aura, I’d love to see it. But even without photos, I’ll take your word for any pairings that worked for you, whether it’s specific colors or just formulas in general.

Flying Nimbus + Dewpearls is a very light and airy mani 🌬️ 🩵

Both were picked up as rewards a little while ago. I wasn’t sure about Flying Nimbus, at least on its own, plus I have more than enough thermals, but figured it would be worth trying for points. Being a big fan of MC shimmers, I was more interested in Dewpearls. Not sure if I’ll get around to wearing it on its own too often, but I’m glad it works as a beautiful shimmery blue topper! It makes sense that these came from the same collection as they compliment each other perfectly.

As expected, my Flying Nimbus was rather thick upon first use, so I gave it a squirt of thinner. I got better at using it as I progressed through the mani, learning that I needed a moderately thick coat and to use as few brush strokes as humanly possible while painting. Thin coats would not work here; even with thinner the formula is just kinda thick, chalky, and it seems to dry as you’re applying it. So just slap it on the nail fast and let it self-correct & level.

Dewpearls was lovely to work with, no thinner needed, it just applied a nice even sheer layer of shimmer perfectly. Easy to work with, great formula, gorgeous shimmery color. 😊 I really love MC shimmers. ♥️

Of course the addition of Dewpearls means that my mani’s warm state is now a pale blue rather than white, and that’s fine because I prefer this. It was really hard to photograph the transitional stage because it is quite hot today, but you can see that it works! In more moderate temperatures it’s more obvious, but Dewpearls has it looking nice whether fully hot, fully cold, or transitional.

1x Hardcore base, 2x Flying Nimbus, 1x Dewpearls, 1x Sally Hansen insta-dri red bottle qdtc

Photos taken next to a window with some indirect natural light

Sitting on my bed right now, looking at my very warm state nails, I’d describe the color as an icy pale silver with the slightest hint of light blue. It’s almost white, almost silver, but that pinch of pale blue is present and looks cool & icy. ❄️ I could see this being a good winter combo (though I can’t wear thermals in the colder months because I’ll never see the warm state, even in a heated environment lol).

What else have you topped Flying Nimbus with? I want to really get to using my thermals during these warmer months, before they start expiring, and all but two of my thermals really require a topper to look complete (the two exceptions being Imperial Stormtrooper & Spirit Water - the rest are the older flat creme thermals).

Blood Moon with Moondust - super sparkly in the sun, pics of it indoors in comments

I finally tried Blood Moon, which I grabbed during the special one-day-only blood moon rewards in early March. It was a “eh why not?” reward, simply because I know holos aren’t my jam in general. I just don’t spend enough time in the sun to get to enjoy their effect, which is why I added Moondust for this first wearing!

I kinda wish I had worn Blood Moon solo for at least one day, though, so I could more easily discern what it looks like without the Moondust adding some sparkle. But I knew right away I needed a pinch of something extra.

It was fully opaque in one generous coat. I usually paint two thinner coats, but it was going on rather thickly and I figured if I could get away with one coat for a mid-week mani change, all the better. It applied well to my left hand. On my right hand there were some tiny dot-shaped chunks that I’m thinking were some gloopy polish stuck to the brush. I didn’t fight it too hard or redo those two nails that now have a solidified dot in the center because I’ll be redoing my nails this weekend. The chunks remain. I’m not sure if they were in the bottle upon arrival or if the polish dried/thickened slightly in the short time it was open to paint the left hand. In any case, hopefully a little thinner will solve that.

I went back to read the description and I wouldn’t quite call this a black polish. It reads as a very dark brown to me. I don’t notice a red shimmer, but maybe the red mixed with black is making it look dark brown? Sitting in my bedroom right now, with just a little indirect natural light, it looks like a cola-colored polish. Very dark brown, almost black, but not.

Do you think your Blood Moon looks black on you? Or very dark brown? I think in some photos I get a hint, or just a vibe, of some red shimmer, but I don’t see it in-person.

I like it and could see myself wearing it in the fall (I was in the mood for something dark to end the week, wanted to try something new, and wanted to take advantage of the sunny days we’re having, so an untried holo was in order!). I’m glad that someone suggested adding Moondust to holos if they’re not usually a formula you go for! I feel like I’ll enjoy my small handful of holos way more with this addition.

I own and love Garden of Evil. Would I like Fields of Elysium?

I know they’re not the same, but there’s enough similarity that I consider them sisters. I love GoE. That shimmer is fantastic. Does FoE have a strong shimmer? The very muted color may not be ideal for me, but a great shimmer could make it worthwhile.

Clearly I’m toying with the idea of a tiny last minute sale order. The rewards are amazing but I already own all of them other than FoE.

I’ve searched for photos of FoE on this sub, and have been reading people’s reviews & thoughts … I’ve been reading conflicting things. Some say the shimmer is amazing, at least equal to GoE, at least one person saying it’s stronger than GoE… then others say it’s just flat, bland, and lacks the advertised shimmer.

What do you think about it? I’m perfectly ok being deinfluenced! This final order would be a gamble on muted colors; I’m strongly considering Lovebomb with Fields of Elysium as a reward. 😬 Not so sure I want to pay shipping a third time, so deinfluencing is very welcome here. I could also just put together a destash list at some point and seek trades, as these two colors are polarizing so I’m sure there’s plenty of bottles sitting unused out there.

Photo is Garden of Evil for tax. I never thought this color would be for me but I love this weirdo polish. The shimmer is what really makes it work, so I’m primarily wondering if Fields of Elysium also has a good shimmer.🤔

Spaceoddity- it took me so long to give this one the attention it deserves! I absolutely love it👾🛸

Spaceoddity has been sitting in my collection, overlooked month after month as I chose other colors (usually magnetics, I love a magnetic mani). It looks beautiful in the bottle, but it never felt like the right time to use it. Today I woke up thinking I wanted to do something colorful, perhaps rainbow or rainbow-inspired, for the kickoff of pride month, but nothing I was trying to pull together felt right. Choosing Spaceoddity was partially inspired by the magenta stripe in the bisexual flag, and I decided to just stick with one color rather than going for the whole flag.

It’s packed with flakies yet easy to use. The first coat was surprisingly opaque, the flakies went on evenly, it looked complete in two coats, smooth to the touch and glossy with the top coat added.

The color is the star here. I love love love this deep dark yet bright magenta color! It’s so vibrant and rich. There’s subtle little hints of orange that add to its depth. When I look closely I can see that some of the flakes are darker, perhaps a dark blue or very deep purple. In my dimly lit bedroom, my nails look red, and in a well-lit setting it’s the most vibrant magenta I’ve ever seen.

This is the polish that got my sister hooked on Mooncat. I took six colors home for Christmas, and she chose to use Spaceoddity. A few days later she texted me saying she wanted to start doing her nails regularly and was ready to make a MC order! She also just made her first MC sale order. The habit continues to spread. 💜

Some recent full pans! Plus I destashed two lip items (a major weakness for me) 💪

My focuses on PP are lip products (I love lip sticks/balms/etc but own WAY too many), foundation (got into a habit of buying too many and rotating them, never finishing any), and mascara (same as foundation, but I now only have two open and am focused on finishing them before starting the next). My other primary focus is L’Occitane products in general. I have a massive stash, built up over years of buying and receiving gifts. I’ve realized there’s only a small handful of items I love enough to rebuy as they run out, so I’m gradually making my way through using it up and not replacing anything.

Here’s my thoughts on these items:

  1. B&BW foaming hand soap - Marshmallow Fireside - included here because during Covid I aquired a stash of these soaps. I didn’t realize it at the time but it was clearly a stress/fear response. I’m down to about six or seven left in the cabinet, and this one was by far my favorite scent. I would absolutely rebuy when the time comes.

  2. e.l.f. Thirst Burst Drops - bought it as an attempt to replace a more pricey serum I love. It’s ok, didn’t do much for my skin, wouldn’t rebuy.

  3. Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin foundation - this took forever to finish. Very opaque & pigmented, a little goes a long way. Sometimes my face would look cakey by the end of the day. I know it looks like there’s some left, but no more comes out of the dispenser and I’m not cutting it open. I have plenty more to work on. Wouldn’t rebuy. The makeup you think you’re seeing is really just a thin coating. This stuff is opaque af.

  4. L’Occitane extra gentle milk soap mini- I enjoy their bars of soap, but they’re pretty pricey. Would rebuy only if there was a great deal, otherwise I’m happy with my other bath proceducts. I’m now down to my last small bar of L’Occitane soap!

  5. L’Occitane almond body milk mini - good, it’s a somewhat thin lotion. The scent is the star, but I don’t think it does much for my skin. The scent is great though. Not a rebuy.

  6. L’Occitane verbena body lotion - see above, smells great, not a rebuy. Both of these mini bottles can’t be scraped because the top is impossible to remove and I’m not trying to cut through the thick plastic.

  7. L’Occitane gentle & balance shampoo & conditioner minis - smells amazing to me, almost like a high end baby shampoo lol. Works fine. I don’t think it’s worth the price.

  8. O’Keefe’s Lip Repair - definitely would rebuy once I get through more of my other balms. I miss it though, it worked really well. When my partner has chapped dry lips he’ll ask “where’s the lip balm? That one that works?” and he means this. So worth buying.

  9. L’Occitane Immoetelle essential water mini spray bottle - wouldn’t buy. It’s pleasant but I don’t need it. I have one more that’s a slightly larger splash bottle. I use it as a toner when I think of it, but it’s not essential.

  10. L’Occitane mini 20% shea butter hand cream - classic, works well. But I’ve found other hand products, one serum in particular, that I enjoy for a much lower price. I still have plenty of these creams to use up, but I could see one day wanting one if my hands are extremely dry in the winter. It’s really good for extremely dry skin. Gentle, thick as can be. Would buy if I really needed it, but no plans to replace any time soon.

I also gave away two lip items to a friend! One was a deluxe sample size Tarte maracuja lip mask and the other was a full size unused Clinique Tenderheart lipstick. Nice items, I simply do not need to add more to my stash, and I have other items I prefer. I was surprised that it was slightly difficult to let them go without using them myself, but I do not need more lip products! It’s better that they have a chance to be used than to sit in my caboodle forever.

Curiosity’s Trap - I can now confirm that cell phones affect magnetics 🧲

A long weekend means a little extra time for manis and trying out some untried colors I’m not so sure about. Curiousity’s Trap is a color I grabbed as an “eh why not?” reward earlier this month when I needed more base coat. I’ve never been interested in it before, the color combo isn’t really my thing, and I’d probably experiment with layering it over something or topping it in the future. Maybe experiment with a glass bead topped by a thin coat of a complimentary flakie? We’ll see.

I usually take my time on magnetic manis but I knew this would only be on my hands for a short time, so I magnetized for 60 seconds max per nail. Despite that, the cat eye was super crisp when fresh and has only dispersed a little. Good formula! The blue is a deeper shade than I had expected, and I like the base color quite a bit. I was pleasantly surprised by the gold glitter subtly scattered throughout. The one thing holding me back from really liking it very much is simply the color combo of blue and gold. Like many of you, that was my school colors, and I just don’t need that.

I used two coats, but in some spots the blue is left slightly thin, so either three coats or a creme base would make it look fully complete.

The major takeaway is that I finally saw firsthand how much of an effect a cellphone can have on a fresh magnetic mani! I painted my left hand, occasionally using my right to scroll while waiting for coats to dry. I forgot to slide the phone to the other side of the counter when painting my right hand, and used my right index finger to scroll a bit before the polish had set. Very quickly I saw a lot of dispersion and realized my error. So be mindful of your electronics when you have a fresh magnetic mani! I didn’t bother redoing it since I knew I’d be taking it off soon. Photo 3 shows how severely the cellphone affected the cat eye.

I like it more than I expected to, but I can’t imagine I’ll ever wear it on its own. Maybe in a skittle or layered with other things. Or maybe it’s bound for that eventual destash/trade that I swear to god I will get rolling by summertime lol.

Considering making my first Emily de Molly order. Some items I’ve wishlisted are similar, but which ones should I cut?

Thank you for any guidance you have to offer!

I’ve been into nail polish for about 1.5 years, went hard on buying Mooncat, and have just recently dipped into other indies (thanks to this sub!). I love what I’ve ordered from Anlac and Bee’s Knees. I also have a couple of random indies I’ve picked up in destashes (1 each of a Femme Fatale, LynB, and Cirque).

This week is a major week in the lacquer market, with releases and sales. I’m surprised that I haven’t made a Mooncat sale order yet, but something is keeping me from pulling the trigger on it. After digging through other indie sites, I think I’ve landed on wanting to try some Emily de Molly next.

I’m quite sold on Sunset Over the Bay and Key Drama. I’m pretty sure Lament is a keeper too, but if you’ve used it, would you descibe it as chromey? I already have a lot of Mooncat pale pink shimmers, is it too similar to A Midsummer’s Dream or any of the others?

Is Disarm worth it? I love magnetics and pinks, but I’m undecided if it’s special enough to make the cut.

I’m attracted to The Ones Who Live because it looks super glowy. I have Mooncat’s To All Who Ghosted Me, which appears to be a similar color, but is lacking shimmer & glow. Would Key Drama over TAWGM create The Ones Who Live, or is this polish worth grabbing?

Waiting for the Sun looks like such a unique and cool topper. I’d probably get more use out of my cremes if I had it … but would I really use it that often? I’m now thinking I might not.

Now, the magnetics (photo 1) are where I’m sure I can cut one or two. I’ve already narrowed it down, cutting some others, and these are what remain. Once Forgotten looks really cool, and the other three are toppers. I think the first two are new, but has anyone used Catalyst before? I do love color in my magnetics, but would Knight in Armor be more versatile and useful since it’s silver? Should I be making a cut between Catalyst and Youtopia?

Have I missed anything you consider essential? I am a magnetics fiend with glowy shimmers being a close second. I love purples and pinks, but can enjoy most colors (I don’t do too well with orange or yellow, I think I own enough green and it’s not a priority, gold can be tricky but works as an accent).

I’ve added EdM to my Facebook, so I’ll have to remember to open that app and find out about the sale. If you’ve bought from an EdM sale before, is there a mad rush to submit orders before items sell out? Depending on timing I may be at work when it starts, so I’m hoping there’s a little time to finalize the cart and submit the order without panicking lol (BKL was a little stressful the one time I ordered! Even Anlac was tricky, as Fuyu was in my cart, then wasn’t available, then returned again 🙃)

🙏 thank you for your wisdom and sage lacquer advice!

Are we gonna have to wait until Tuesday for new rewards? 😬

Fleur Sauvage & Moral Decay are sold out. It’s a federal holiday three day weekend.

Are we thinking we won’t see new rewards until Tuesday? I haven’t placed an order yet, but would if I could grab some rewards that I don’t yet own (and think could work for me). I’ve spent a lot on polish in the past year, so a few freebies is really what would sway me into spending a little money this week. My cart is ready, I’d just love to know what the next rewards will be first!

Also, MC… your sales are only twice per year. Couldn’t someone be paid to update the site over the weekend? I think the holiday pay would be worth it because I’m sure I’m not the only one waiting to order. id imagine this is a task that could even be completed in a work from home situation.

Be wary of DD sales on resale platforms, there’s a known counterfeiter back at it

If you’re seeking any of the very pricey rare bottles, please be on alert as there is a known counterfeiter back in business. Please check labels and images carefully. Check other prior listings to see if the seller you’re thinking of buying from stole images. Do as much research as possible to know what labels should look like. Look at past sales and ask yourself, “how many of these bottles could one person have?”

Just be careful if you’re a serious collector willing to drop serious money. Inspect all packages carefully prior to rating the sale and accepting the bottle you’ve been sent.

I hate to see anyone get ripped off. 99.9% of destashers are legit and trustworthy, but it only takes one to ruin it. I’m not in this market but I can’t help but notice these patterns and some egregious labels here and there.

Trying to decide what to use next. I have way too many untrieds. Any suggestions from this list? Looking for some inspiration to push me in the right direction. 💕

I’m not even sure I should be buying anything in the upcoming sale because my list of untried bottles has gotten far too long. Between trades and some luckily reasonable destashes, I picked up some DD’s between sales, and I also have a good number of rewards I picked up in the past few months through tiny purchases of staples like base coat.

The weather will be grey, cloudy, on-and-off stormy for the next few days, so I’d want to avoid colors that only look good in bright sunlight. ⛈️ I know this weather is actually ideal for certain formulas (love my glowy shimmers!). But I’m pretty open to almost anything.

Here’s what I have yet to try. I probably won’t wear a creme solo, but if it makes a good base for something, I’m always up for that!
