Fuck off

Fuck off

There is literally no reason to do this when Raven, Answer, Kum, Zappa, Fanny, and Paradigm are all yet to return. Not to mention that Chronus, Ariels, Vernon, Gabriel, and Crow still haven’t been playable whatsoever. Guilty Gear has far too many quality characters to be adding guests for the 2nd season in a row.

And I know this character won’t be interesting in the slightest. It’ll be the same situation as Lucy where you get excited for some cool thing from their series just to get a stupidly simple character. Seriously, why did they feel the need to give Lucy a DP and basic projectile rather than lean in to what makes her actually unique? Because guest characters are meant to appeal to people who don’t play these games, so they’re never allowed to have higher skill floors or gimmicks that affect non-special moves.

Thanks Arcsys

You really had to nerf those disgustingly overpowered Faust and Jack-O combos! So glad those characters have been put back in the dirt where they belong (and with no compensation!)

Hooray for Arcsys!!!

Beginner coming back to UNI2

It says it in the title. I’m a complete beginner with this game. I tried it several months back but gave up pretty quickly because I felt overwhelmed by how differently it played to Guilty Gear and BlazBlue.

Is there any kind of core advice you have for someone starting from scratch on this game? (Playing Merkava btw)

Looks like it's over (unless he's DLC)

RIP to all Moon Knight fans in this final base roster announcement

Definitely would've preferred MK over Deadpool or Blade (though, in my ideal world MK and Blade are both in the game), but I'm not mad at what we got. Loki looks awesome

Do we know this is Blade for sure?

I feel like it could just as easily be a Ronin design

Though, I don’t know if this being a Ronin would necessarily help or hurt Blade’s chances

Yet another prediction post for Ghost Rider's team but I read comics

This post is based entirely on the variant covers, so let's start with our only revealed one thus far:

Ghost Rider's Tokon variant cover is for Marc Spector: Moon Knight Issue 7. This one provides important context for the rest of these variant covers (and also what's leaving me so confused about Thor #801). The original cover (image 2) makes the intent of the issue clear: this is all about Ghost Rider. He's positioned closer to the front and while MK emenates a soft, blue-glow while Ghost Rider is surrounded by a striking orange one. It's an issue of Moon Knight, but Ghost Rider takes center stage, hence why he gets the cover. The same applies to X-Men #38 and Magneto.

Moving on to X-Men United, I think it's very likely that our variant cover will be Blade. There's just one problem, Image 3 is of X-Men United Issue 7, but 6 is the one getting the Tokon variant. X-Men United #6 has no Blade mentioned in its summary nor any of its several covers. So why would Blade be here at all? I think it comes down to the release date: Issue 7 doesn't release until September 30th! There's no way they want to release a variant cover nearly 2 months after release! They just moved him up an issue for convenience.

Going on to Marc Spector: Moon Knight #8, things get a lot more complicated. Issue 8 is where they're bringing all the new Midnight Sons together...and they're also all on the cover together...and Blade is there too. This is where I fall back on the logic of the Ghost Rider variant cover. Moon Knight is positioned front and center here, with his body and cape taking up almost the entire bottom corner. Furthermore, there's less attention given to Ghost Rider, with his flames not glowing nearly as much as #7. But let's not discount the possibility of this being the Blade cover either. Blade crosses over with MK in Issue 6 of Marc Spector: Moon Knight (img 5). But since Issue 6 releases in July, it would be a massive spoiler with them likely having to reveal what the variant cover looks like before EVO. It's always possible that they moved the Blade Cover to #8 to avoid this (though this calls into question the purpose of the X-Men United cover). And it could be Daredevil or Clea, too, I guess, but tbh: Daredevil is great for DLC (especially since he's already been teased in the NYC maps), and a Clea cover would be more reasonable if she was as prominent as MK, Ghost Rider, and Blade.

Punisher is on Wade Wilson: Deadpool #8. He's the only one on the cover. Frankly, consider him in the game already.

Now comes the big problem: what the hell is going on in Mortal Thor #15/Thor #801??? The summary tells you practically nothing, and the cover is just Thor! Seriously, this one cover throws off everything. So far, my best idea is that the cover is for The Champion or some cover with every character on it, but please someone provide an idea for this (that is, assuming that the other 3 covers I mentioned are for Ghost Rider teammates).

Also it would be really weird for them to do a 2nd all-male team after keeping it with at least one woman per team prior to Doom's.

TL;DR: the team is Ghost Rider, Blade, Moon Knight, and Punisher. No idea what's going on with Thor.

A hypothetical moveset for Moon Knight (with some visual aid)

shoutout to u/evening_produce4322 for the template

Starting with the Vengeance Unique mechanic. Upon pressing the Unique button, Marc enters a state in which he cannot move until he stops holding the button. During this time, he takes reduced damage, and all damage is grey health that can be healed as long as he's not hit until it finishes. Taking damage or just holding down the button increases his Vengeance meter, granting his specials and normals increased range and damage. After level 3, special moves will "cash-out" Vengeance, decreasing it and dealing extra damage. The Vengeance meter has 5 levels, with a level increasing every ~2 hits while in the Vengeance stance.

His quarter-circle forward special is Crescent Dart. Moon Knight throws a large moonarang toward the opponent, briefly stunning them on hit. The light version fires forward, the medium fires upward, and the heavy fires a larger projectile that boomerangs back to MK. When performed in the air, Moon Knight fires it down toward the opponent. The light air version travels down at heavy angle, the medium travels down at a wider angle, and the heavy fires in 3 directions down.

His Dragon Punch special is Moonlit Slash. Moon Knight calls upon Khonshu to empower him, releasing a powerful swipe across the screen. A decently fast (10-15 frames), far-reaching move that hits the opponent mid. On hit (up to level 3), Moonlit Slash will increase the Vengeance meter by a full level. The medium version is slower, but reaches even farther. The heavy version comes out faster and swipes twice, with Moon Knight being actionable after the first swipe.

His quarter-circle backward special is Embracer. Moon Knight dashes forward, hitting the opponent with his truncheon. By pressing the attack button again while holding forward, Moon Knight slams the truncheon down on the opponent's head, hitting high. By pressing the attack button again while holding down, Moon Knight crouches down and strikes the opponent's legs, hitting low. The light version is more plus on block, but doesn't travel very far, the medium travels farther, and the heavy performs a dashing command grab that can be severely punished on whiff.

His 22 special is Midnight Hook. Moon Knight opens his truncheon and fires his grappling hook. The light version pulls Moon Knight toward the opponent, the medium pulls the opponent toward Moon Knight, and the heavy performs a disjointed hitgrab to catch zoning opponents off-guard. The light air version will grapple Moon Knight down whether he hits the ground or the opponent. The medium and heavy do the same as before.

His 50 meter super is Phases of the Moon God. Moon Knight performs a launching uppercut on the opponent before launching them back down with a diving kick. Depending on how much Vengeance you have, Moon Knight will perform a number of hits before the dive kick. Using this move completely empties your Vengeance meter, so when used at max Vengeance, you can get all your meter's worth. This is a reversal.

His 100 meter super is Vengeance of the Moon Knight. Moon Knight performs a hit grab on the opponent, chaining them down with his truncheons before leaving the screen and returning to crash down on the opponent with his Mooncopter.

His Assemble Super has him call upon Khonshu, god of the Moon to attack the opponent for devastating damage.

Let me know what you think!

(Please excuse the lousy drawings, I had to whip up a visual aid really quick lol)

Hot take: I think Role Queue would solve most of Adam’s problems

The reason NetEase doesn’t buff Adam (nor Ultron and Mantis) is because they’re afraid of triple support comps being too good. If the game forced 2-2-2, these characters would be free to be buffed without making the competitive scene obnoxious

Adam’s soul bond got that 10 second cooldown increase because triple support rez comp was insanely busted with what was functionally a 2-3-3 comp with Adam and Mantis serving as extra DPS. They never buff Adam’s heals outside of cooldown reduction, because he’s legitimately too scary as a prescience in triple support.

If 2 supports was forced, they would be free to buff Adam’s damage or healing without it feeling too oppressive. They could reduce the cooldown of soul bond. Make the bonus health from his ult convert to health instead of completely decaying, etc

TL;DR: Adam and the other off supports are bad because of triple supp, role queue would let them get buffed

Determining a potential moveset for Daredevil

Day 6, The Man Without Fear (or woman if they decide to go with Elektra!)

I waited much longer to make this post compared to the other new Midnight Sons and to be honest, I still have no idea what he can do to make himself stand out. Using grapples or heightened senses are both already done by Ms. Marvel and Spidey and Moon Knight would probably use his clubs (though, I assume if Daredevil got in, Moon Knight wouldn't).

So far, my best idea is to just go standard with him and make him a regular mixup character. Either that or go all the way in on a powered-up version of him like Rivals did.

Please, does anyone have any unique ideas for Mr. Murdock?

Determining a potential moveset for The Punisher

Day 5, it's Frank Castle, I think you get the deal by now (unless you haven't seen the other posts)

I honestly wasn't too certain of him until this cover dropped and now I think he's almost guranteed on the same level as Blade for this game.

I think the best route they could take is making Frank a stance character, which his Unique button swapping between 2-3 stances with different gun types that affect his normals and at least one of his specials. You could also give him a system similar to Star-Lord's where he gets a single shot of a special weapon that he has to reload with the Unique button.

Just please, Arcsys, don't let this be Xrd Elphelt all over again

Determining a potential moveset for Scarlet Witch

Day 4 of potential Ghost Rider teammates, it's the leak queen herself: Scarlet Witch!

To be honest, I wouldn't have done her if it wasn't for that leak (which I honestly don't believe. There's no room for Krakoa as a base-game stage and the Sanctum Sanctorum would fit better as a Clea stage imo). In my heart, Scarlet Witch is an Avenger, not a Midnight Son.

Unlike Clea, Wanda doesn't really use regular, defined spells from a book, instead using Chaos Magic. I'd imagine her to have a Unique more like Ghost Rider's where she just does a move that ties into a meter. Only problem is, I have no idea what that meter would be

Please! Send your suggestions!

Determining a moveset for Clea Strange

Day 3 of figuring out movesets for potential Ghost Rider teammates. Today is Clea Strange, the Sorceress Supreme!

She's a driving force in the ongoing Midnight Sons storyline in Marc Spector: Moon Knight, and honestly, I just like her style of magic more than Scarlet Witch's.

Like the previous 2, this is mainly focusing on Clea's Unique system. You could seriously do ANYTHING, but if it were up to me, I'd like it if her Unique button changed which set of spells she's using (kind of like Star-Lord's element gun), changing all of her specials to fit the new spell type.

Leave your own ideas below, I'd love to hear them for her especially.

Determining a moveset for Blade

Part 2 of figuring out movesets for potential Ghost Rider teammates.

In my opinion, Blade is almost guaranteed for the team, Arcsys has a history of awesome black vampires with sick weapons.

Like with Moon Knight, this is mostly focusing on his Drive/Unique system.

While he is a Dhampir, Blade still has a need for blood, and I think that’s certain to carry over to his gameplay. I made comparisons to Nagoriyuki earlier, however, I think Blade may be slightly different, mainly because Ghost Rider’s heat gauge already mirrors Nagoriyuki’s blood meter.

I like the idea of Blade having a command or hitgrab that allows him to draw blood from the opponent. When enough blood is collected, Blade can use it to unleash extra powerful specials and supers.

But that’s just my idea, I’d love to hear yours!

Determining a potential Moon Knight moveset

In the lead up to Evo LAs Vegas, I want to run through movesets for potential Ghost Rider teammates. These will be mostly focusing on their Drive/Unique buttons rather than specials

There’s a lot of directions to take MK. You could make him a mixup stance character like Leo. A screen-controller in the same vein as Kimberly and C. Viper, etc

My personal favorite idea is a sort of Rage/Punishment meter where upon activating the Unique button, MK enters an idle state and intentionally takes damage to charge up the gauge (very much like Raven’s excitement meter). Depending on the level, his specials are powered up.

Feel free to leave your own ideas!

The most realistic Ghost Rider team prediction (to me)

The latest issue of Marc Spector: Moon Knight shows Clea Strange summoning the Midnight Sons: Moon Knight, Clea, Ghost Rider, Blade, and Daredevil. With Moon Knight teaming up with Blade in issue 6, Ghost Rider in issue 7, and the Tokon variant cover coming for issue 8, I think it's safe to say that this is some comic/game synergy (much like how the comics synergized with Rivals' Queen in Black storyline for Hela and Knull).

The reason I've excluded Daredevil from this team lineup is because I think Arcsys wants to save him for DLC. He's extremely popular, has a very dedicated fanbase (both MCU and comic), he has an actively running TV Show, and he's being teased in the background of stages. Furthermore, Moon Knight has more interesting angles to explore with Marc's fighting style and Khonshu-imbued abilities. No matter how much I hate it, I have to admit that the Age of Khonshu event provides a lot of material for a fighting game.

Next is Blade. Fairly self-explanatory. He's got swords, he's got guns (likely to be used like Elphelt's shotgun in Guilty Gear) and he's a vampire. So much room to do unique things with.

Then there's Clea. While Ghost Rider fulfills the Axl Low style zoning, we could expect Clea to play more like Asuka R. Kreutz or MvC Strange. There's also the option of Scarlet Witch but frankly, I don't believe in that leak nor does she fit in here. If she's going to be on a team, it would be an Avengers or mutant team, not Midnight Sons.

But there's an extra person here, isn't there? There's one big problem with this whole idea: the Deadpool variant cover. Now, this could just be an extra variant cover to feature someone from one of the other teams, but there is a strong chance that it's relevant to Ghost Rider's team. So I added Gwenpool just in case she subs in for Blade or Clea in this lineup.
