Amar’e Stoudemire opens up about his 2007 suspension vs. the Spurs: “That was the year we definitely could have won a championship. We had the Spurs on the ropes, man. We had ’em… They could’ve given us a warning, but they wanted to make an example out of us… A little bit too harsh of a penalty.”
UWM stock was cut nearly in half today, while Mat Ishbia’s estimated net worth has fallen by more than $3B since March. Worth knowing as a Suns fan.
UWM Holdings Corp reported Q2 2026 earnings today and the stock is getting hammered, down 49% in a single day, the worst drop in the company’s history.
- Net loss of $451.9 million for the quarter.
- Board suspended the quarterly dividend for the first time in company history.
- Shares are down roughly 73% year to date.
Per Forbes, Mat Ishbia’s estimated net worth has fallen from $9.1 billion in March to $5.8 billion today, which is now only slightly above Sportico’s most recent $5.1 billion valuation of the Suns.
To stabilize the company, UWM announced a $2.05 billion capital raise, including a major investment from Oaktree Capital and the Ishbia family’s new investment vehicle, SFS Group Capital. The deal strengthens UWM’s balance sheet, but the dividend is gone, common shareholders face potential dilution, and Oaktree now receives governance rights and a meaningful voice in the company’s future.
Why this matters:
Ishbia’s business success and the Suns financial flexibility are more connected than most owners. Most of his wealth is tied to UWM, which just eliminated a major source of cash with the dividend suspension, and an outside investment firm now has influence over the business responsible for his fortune.
As one of the most aggressive owners in the league who’s willing to spend heavily on payroll, facilities, FO personnel, overall fan experience, etc., if his net worth and liquidity continue taking hits over the next few quarters, this can absolutely change the approach here with how much he’s willing (or able) to spend on the franchise.

Brian Gregory said Bridges accountability and remorse were critical factors in their evaluation. “We believe people need to be held accountable for their actions, but we also believe that over time there can be personal growth.”
Miles Bridges: “It's mixed feelings about me being here but I take full responsibility for my actions. I’ve been to counseling, I’ve been to therapy. Right now, I’m just prioritizing being better as a man everyday… being a great father, and earning the trust of this fanbase and community.”

I heard Brian Windhorst say he’s talked to league executives who think the Suns over performed last season and weren’t as good as their record indicated. Apparently Vegas agrees. With that being said, I’m hammering the Over on this.
How Miles Bridges Will UNLOCK Phoenix Suns Offense | Film Study
Stephen PridGeon-Garner:
Miles Bridges initiated 535 PnR's last season, which would've been 5th most on the Suns.
His points per chance (1.03) would've been 1st on the Suns.
This'll be a *very* important & unique trigger added to the Suns offensive process.
It won't be specific to the halfcourt, as it can be used in transition/flow too, but the brut of it will take place when the game slows down a bit.
They're multifunctional, in pairing his handle with the ability to "Barkley," his way into the post.
This all allows him to tug at coverages, like above. Pull 2 to the ball. & flatten a defense before stretching it with the pass.
Phoenix having a more diverse rolodex of ways they can put pressure on opponents & even poke at matchups, aligns perfectly with their offensive process taking next steps.
Not reinventing the wheel, but evolving the process.
