Cabinetry plan feedback?

Cabinetry plan feedback?

Any ideas on how this kitchen design and cabinetry plan could be improved?

One change I'm planning is to replace the 36-inch range and oven with a 30-inch, which would give me the ability to do a pull-out drawer above a door on either side of the range.

Trying to make the most of limited space!

Shinnoki veneer slab door kitchen durability 10 years later?

We are deciding between a couple of cabinet manufacturers and whether we want to go with a custom cabinet shop's in-house rift white oak veneer or go for the Shinnoki pre-stained and finished white oak veneer in Infinite Ivory oak.

Are there any owners of Shinnoki veneer kitchens who have had them for 3, 5, 10 years and cook several times a day? If so, I would love to know how they hold up over time in a high use kitchen. Thanks in advance!

How to help U10 only-child girl improve

This is my daughter's second year playing on a club team, and she played rec a few years before that. She's in the ~80th percentile for height and has good muscle development, so she knows how to play a physical game. What she's missing is technique. Her previous club team practiced for two hours a week (mostly scrimmage and 1v1/1v2), and the new team, where she will be on the 2nd/3rd tier on the silver/bronze team, will be practicing for three hours a week.

What is a training program I can get her to do by herself in our backyard or in a local park to help her improve her ball-handling skills, technique, and soccer IQ?

I feel like if I'm not coaching her during games to take the ball/sprint/stick with it, she's not playing very actively or aggressively. I would love to hear tips and tricks of what you have done with your linked kid to help them develop a better intuition for the game, better stamina, better speed, and more hunger to succeed.

At the end of the day, this is great physical exercise, but she's not an inherently soccer-obsessed or talented kid. I'd like her to continue playing to develop even better teamwork, social skills, physical stamina, and enjoyment of the game, but as an only child living in a place that doesn't have kids playing soccer in the park, I wonder what I can do.

Thanks in advance!

Louder backsplash with quieter counter -- will I regret it?

We're thinking of doing a quieter, more peaceful countertop, perhaps a white quartzite or creamy quartz, and doing a more visually demanding and opinionated natural stone quartzite slab backsplash since that will be on display from the kitchen and dining room. A few options we're considering are seen here.

The thinking being that our countertops are typically cluttered with stuff (e.g. cutting boards, dishes, etc)-- having a loud pattern there will add to the clutter and cognitive load, hence the more minimal counters.

Have you done this? Did you regret going loud with the backsplash stone and not choosing something more understated? It looks great here in a minimal rendering, but what will it look like with all the appliances that I typically keep on the kitchen counter? Do people compliment the stone if you've gone with a louder selection? Would love to hear candid reflections on what you'd do if you were starting from scratch.

Update: 1) These renderings show a veined countertop -- imagine if it was a creamy solid-colored quartz instead. 2) The peninsula won't have a height dropoff -- it'll all be the same height as the counter.

How to gauge whether a fabricator is actually as good as they say

How do I find a high-quality stone fabricator/installer?

I'm going to be using a white quartzite and contrasting colored solid natural quartzite backsplash, so I want someone who really knows what they're doing. Notably, I'm concerned about seams being very obvious between pieces of white quartzite slab, so I need to know that they know how to place seams inconspicuously, how to prepare the two sides right before joining, and how to properly paint the glue to ensure as inconspicuous a seam as possible. I'm also considering doing a drop-in gas stove, and I want the seam between the stove and the countertop to be as flush as possible for ease of cleaning.

I'm also concerned that they're going to show me photos of other people's work that's not their own.

What are questions I should ask my stone fabricator to minimize risk, since I'm going to be spending so much on these natural materials that are irreplaceable?

Hoping to make a decision about our cabinets and would love your insight.

We know we want a medium toned rift white oak appearance, and this is our forever home so we are willing to pay more for great quality. One thing I'm not convinced of is whether I want to pay the premium for rift oak veneer versus laminate. Modern laminates are extremely high resolution so they oftentimes look like real wood, unless you know what you're looking for.

We were thinking of doing this harvest Oak veneer, but it seems the cabinet shop who did our renderings only use shinnoki, and shinnoki does mix and match veneer that's vertically sliced rather then a pencil shaving wide horizontal veneer from a single tree.

Am I overthinking this? Should I pay extra and go to a custom cabinet maker who will make me vertically grain matched veneers across multiple vertical doors? Or since the white oak rift grain is so consistent, essentially just vertical lines, should I just go with the shinnoki veneer?

In terms of durability, is veneer more likely to get stained and damaged relative to laminate? If I spray and rub cabinets down, will the veneer degrade more quickly than the laminate equivalent?

Photos of the harvest Oak shinnoki veneer provided here for context, as well as a rendering of the kitchen.

I'm looking to do cabinets that are vertically grain matched in veneer or solid oak or birch and would love to work with an ethical and detail-oriented cabinet maker who also charges reasonably. I'm in Western San Francisco.

Have you worked with anyone who fits this description? Would love to reward people who have treated others well in previous cabinetry projects rather than going by web reviews alone.

Thank you very much in advance!
